Great walk!.. I did it myself. There's a boules area in the garden at the Angel, Grosmont that's great fun. I did have trouble with cattle between Skenfrith to Grosmont. I recommend a walk from Monmouth to the Kymin lookout circular walk. Information is available at the tourist information in Agincourt Square.

The more Eagle eyed viewers will have noticed that the Dryad's Saddle was actually attached to an Ash tree not an Oak as I originally said. I also descibed a 'bough' a couple of times when I should have said trunk! I can only surmise that the sun was getting to me at that stage... 😂

There are so many ways to listen to bats now...even through your phone using an EMT (Echo Meter Touch). That'll not only allow you to listen to the bats but also identify the species. Aside from that, you can get basic bat detectors pretty cheap nowadays. Listening to their ultrasonic calls is a great way to spend an evening :-)

When Proff passes on, i hope it does not put you off from getting another owl! It is hard losing an owl and getting another never replaces the ones we bond with. Its about seeing the quality of life Proff has had. He is living a life where he is safe, loved and cared for with constant food and companionship. He gets to live a life no wild owl would get. Stay strong. ❤

Thank you so much for your lovely message 😊 it's very kind of you! I have always said that i won't get another owl once Prof is gone but I guess I need to see how I feel once time passes. I won't be looking for a quick replacment but if I'm in a position where it naturally happens then so be it... Even after all these years I still feel conflict regarding his life in captivity so thank you for your words regarding that. He has certainly had a long life full of companionship & love ❤

Do you have an old photo of how your grandparents' house used to look for comparison with how it looks now? Any idea what the stone structure with four wooden posts just in front of the house is? Really interesting to hear about the old ways!
@gerrytheranger2324 ай бұрын
Hi Rob...unfortunately we don't have a photo but my mothers cousin completed a drawing of it from memory. I'll attach it below. I asked my dad about the posts in front and he said that over the years after the house fell into ruin, it was used for housing cows and this was a holding pen that was put in front for cattle inspections etc. Also my mum said that my Great Grandparents lived there too and interestingly my Great Grandmother Ellen moved to America for a few years in her youth and ended up working in the White House...!! She had to come home due to her sisters ill health & lived in this house down the lane. Wish i knew that story before I did the video 😊
