Viva did refund me for the contaminated food, but not for the entire purchase of the bad food, refund was only for the remaining uneaten food. Is this common practice in the raw pet food industry? Doesn’t make sense to but maybe it’s just me?

Just can't stand people who go raw for their pets but are afraid of some bacteria. The whole point of going raw in the first place is to give our pets the natural nutrients the protein provides. Companies that process their raw foods through HPP or radiation pretty much sterilized the meat from all forms of bacteria including the good ones! Viva Raw please don't go this route and stay as is. Thanks!

I have been feeding my two dogs VIVA raw for a number of months now. Given the recent pathogen recall, I decided to lightly cook the raw food in hopes of eliminating any potential problem. I checked their website and they state that their food can be lightly cooked for 3-5 minutes without a problem to the quality of the food. I feel a little safer now that I am doing this step in feeding the food to them. I started feeding VIVA because Dr. Judy Morgan is on their website endorsing it for healthy pets.

I have been feeding Honest Kitchen Cat food. Second ingredient is dehydrated sweet potato, and dehydrated potatoes. Now I am questioning this diet, it doesn’t seem right I have a Mama cat who is have problems nursing her kittens.Do you have a cat food recipe for lactating cats, and also for kittens as they are weaned in a few weeks. Kittens are 1 week old. Only 2 kittens survived out of 5. Could it have been from the mama cats diet. It said for all stages of life. Crude Protein min 42 % crude fat 28% crude fiber 2.5%. How do I figure how much carbohydrate is in it?

@@amandajackson668 They tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria. I wonder why Viva Raw issued a letter of compensation offer if, like you said, Hera did not die from eating the recalled batch of Viva Raw. Based on the letter (posted on Hera_her_story on Instagram), the letter stated if Hera's owner were to accept the money, then she can no longer speak publicly about the brand and she has to delete all previous posts. From what I know, others have also spoken up about their dogs getting sick after consuming recalled products issued by the brand. Is 2 recalls within 6 months usual when it comes to commercial raw food? I am genuinely trying to learn.

I know the owner didn't take the money because she wanted to spread awareness.

If they did offer her money it’s because she lost a pet and has vet bills the ND agreement part is to prevent harassment when she knew what she was getting herself into. You should always get your pet a thorough exam involving blood, urine and fecal testing before switching to raw especially when it’s a young animal.

Love Viva! ❤️ They do much more than other companies and truly care for our pets. They helped me figure out what my cat was allergic to and refunded me for all the packs he couldn't eat. That's amazing of them, especially since they are a small company. Also I believe they did everything right during BOTH recalls. 👏🏽 I could go on about why I believe this, but I know everyone has their own opinions. I only ask people do research! Don't just trust what you read on social media. Read actual reports by the FDA and UC Davis. And the fact that Dr Judy still recommends them speaks volumes! Notice how she doesn't recommend We Fed Raw. 😉

Really appreciate the questions asked. Thinking of switching to raw/gently cooked & is very concerning the fact that doing so could harm my cats/dogs. Explanations cleared up a few questions. Because of horrific practices in traditional harvesting of rabbits for pet food, skinning them Alive, what is Viva's harvesting practice concerning rabbits, hopefully onky "meat" rabbits?

I think transparency is # 1 , and I feel like this company stands by there food even though some things are uncharted. Where as no pet owner trust the big pet food company's because they don't care about our pets . We need to show the FDA and bad pet food company's that aren't transparent that we will stand behind company's like viva that are very transparent. I think all pet food company's need to take a hard look at themselves and see it can be done if you put an effort rather that be raw or kibble . Thanks doctor judy and viva raw , I always learn so much

Thank you for making this video. I was surprised by the recall, and was questioning whether or not to purchase their dog foods. We lost our sweet Boxer girl a few months ago 😢, due to contaminated (poisoned?) dog food. It was a nightmare. We are now VERY cautious about everything we feed our other pets. We have NOT fed Viva yet, but they are on our list of "good" foods. We are in the process of learning to make our own whole/real food dog meals, but want pre-made backups in case of emergency/illness/travel/vacation.

Although I no longer feed Viva Raw since I am complete DIY RAW for the last ten months, I feed my German Shepherd Viva Raw Puppy for the first four months of her puppy hood and I know the following: it’s clearly human food grade ready to eat/feed and every time I opened a package, I was overwhelmed by the fresh smell, and delicious aroma and honestly knowing it was for my puppy, didn’t change how delicious, appetizing and tempting it was for me !!!! Its shipped frozen and it’s timed to arrive during the week, never being stuck sitting somewhere on non delivery or work days and they instruct you to determine a shaded place for it be left at your home and for you to note those delivery instructions on the package itself with shipper once you receive the tracking number for your shipment The shipment packaging is above and beyond, the box is 100% insulated and inside that is your frozen food. There are instructions for storage and thawing Mine took more than two days in the fridge to thaw for feeding and this was after the two days of transportation delivery to me. EVERY BIT OF WHAT I SHARED IS OUTSTANDING QUALITY IN THEIR PRODUCT, DELIVERY AND FEEDING TO YOUR DOG I used other similarly sourced products from other similar small national and local companies and many work many were similar but nothing but nothing not one ever beat it in the freshness of the food the quality of the delivery the quality of the customer service or anything else so whatever it is that they’re doing I know that they’re doing it right and you know I get it and I’m so sorry they’ve had this bump in the road, but I hope people don’t give up on them because they’re the best as far as I’m concerned I do DY DIY now because I have the time I’ve since I’m downsized and moved and being retired. I now have the time to do just that for my dog and I enjoy it, but there were such an important link for me getting her from puppyhood to adults and I’m very grateful for viva raw and I was just thrilled that you’re showcasing them

Hi Dr. Judy, I don't know if you will see this, I searched out this video. I have been following you, making your recipes and buying some of your supplements. My 8 year old has had allergies and I got those somewhat managed through your food protocols, thank you so much! However, I just took her in for a check because she seemed to be peeing occasionally and it appeared that she was doing it in response to stress, only occasionally, and only if I put an ecollar on her or she has a conflict with the other dog. The vet confirmed it is probably submissive peeing, but then she x rayed tested the urine and the dog has struvite stones. She wants me to use Hills or Royal prescription diet, but I'm worried about going back to kibble and my Circe is also allergic to chicken. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I would try your courses, but I just spent lots on a vet and cannot afford it at this time. I'm surviving on SSDI in California soo...Thank you again Gretchen

My 12 years old husky is on Apoquil over 5 years, only in the winter months he gets a break from it. Thousands of dollar spend And it didn’t help him 100% . Lately I hear so many bad reviews about Apoquil that I got panicked so I stopped giving him the Apoquil, instead I give him turmeric and fish oil capsules every day. I also sprinkle some ground flax seeds in his food, with blueberries. I rotate the fresh cooked protein to beef pork turkey and salmon ( his favorite is chicken) and he gets 3 times a week sardines and twice a week a small amount of beef hearts and liver. I always gave probiotic with prebiotic no matter what. So far my dog is healthy thank goodness, but I truly worried 😢 I rub his skin with coconut oil and it helped him tremendously with the itching and I moved to a natural approach with quercetin , colostrum and blends of mushrooms. it seems to help him. So far so good.🙏 never Apoquil again.
