Aquafarm Equipment AS was founded in 2004 and revitalized in 2010 by a new group if owners. Since 2012 the idea of making an affordable and light weight design for a closed fish cage has evolved and is now documented by the Norwegian expertise both on the structural and environmental issues.
Aquafarm Equipment AS is currently owned by different 6 companies:
The general manager Atle Presthaug has during many years built barges and sold equipment to the fish farming marked. PDS Protek AS have through the last decade developed, detailed, fabricated and delivered steel feed barges.
The owners and project group are a constellation of personnel from engineering, management, project control and finance.
Through the signed agreement with Marine Harvest, cooperation with Uni Miljø and Norsk Forskningsråd the personell involved covers all the activities required in the project test phase.
The second generation was launched in 2016 - called Neptun 3

Where does the toxicity come from? Is it the Ocean water that is polluted? If so, I wonder what the cost would be to clean up the water being pumped in. The idea is to take water from very deep below the surface, 60 meters usually, to get cleaner water. Would the water be cleaner farther out into open water? The waste should be collected, fish waste makes fantastic fertilizer. I also wonder what they use for food, could a complete food chain be developed so brine or something could be raised from natural foods in the Ocean water, then fed to small feed stock to be fed to the Salmon? Can ultraviolet lights be used on intake and exhaust pipes to kill viruses and bacteria? And if Salmon is selling for 70kr per kilo, what do they get wholesale and what does it cost them to produce?

The larvae lives mainly in the upper parts of the water. The water intake is in the deep, and there has been no need to treat for lice so far this year. Also, this tank collects the sewage, which is a major pollutant. As to viruses... I suppose they are still a risk. Are you suggesting closed tanks should somehow sterilize the water both in an out? This is a major improvement to open tanks, and hopefully it will prove to be both an ecological and economic improvement.
