Boomerangs Toronto

Boomerangs Toronto

Created a group as an option to do something fun outdoors here in the Toronto region in Canada. Trying to give back to the community :) so it is absolutely free. The most important goal is to spread the word and practice of this amazing sport.
I try to host at least 2 practices per week in different locations between St. Catharines, ON (recently moved), Mississauga (Centennial Park) and Etobicoke (several locations) after work hours and on weekends. I usually bring my whole collection, from beginner to advanced levels so if it's your first time, I can teach you and if you already have experience, I am happy to share what I have.
***Strongly recommended to see my videos in max resolution 4k as sometimes the boomerangs go too far and it's hard to see them. Especially in mobile devices.

See you around and "many happy returns"!!

    Hello my friend, I have a question. Do you throw the marathon wing of James Hoy? Hiw far does it fly when you throw it? My problem is, I can't throw it very far, 79 meters... if I tune it it flys only 40 meters by tuning the trailer wing... Serge Paulin throws it very far, i m afraid if I bend the wings to much it will go way too high....maybe you have some advice. Thanks.

    First time I threw it it flew so high but hit a tree and is stuck for all eternity

  • @boomerangstoronto
    @boomerangstoronto7 ай бұрын

    Oh no!!. What I guess it happened, to fly that high, is that the throw was more horizontal than vertical, in that case, it's very unpredictable. Also, this boomerang is VERY light so even in a big field, if not thrown very accurately or modifying it first with flaps or rubber bands, it can go out of the planned course very easily and get lost... If you are in Canada, I recommend you trying the triangle boomerang they sell on Canadian Tire. it way more forgiving to winds than this one. Also, check more videos about tuning and mods, like rubber bands or flaps, that helps a lot. Don't forget always to try throwing vertically, then you can increase the layover until you get the desired effect. If done the opposite way, it can break, hurt someone or get lost!. Good luck and let me know how it went. Cheers!

    Please can you tell me something about the tuning of your phenolic version of my Point Off II? I am rather curious!!!!

  • @boomerangstoronto
    @boomerangstoronto8 ай бұрын

    My pleasure! for the point off: lifting arm=flat angle of attack, 2mm positive dihedral only at the very tip. Dingle arm: Very slightly negative angle of attack, 1mm positive dihedral at the very tip. The arms should be flat. tuning only on the tips. You did an amazing job on that design, Winfried. Thank you for your work. This one, the Orbiter, in fiberglass, is my favorite for long distance ones. 100m+ !! Measured with a golf laser tool.

  • @Bumerang-Papst_WinfriedGorny

    Almost unbelievable! - That is really great man!!!! Congratulations! And thank you for the promotion! 🙂 A long time ago I tried to build a version from 2 mm glass fiber (G12). After 3 attempts I gave up. On the one hand, G12 seems to have too high a specific weight and on the other hand, 2 mm material thickness seems to generate too little resistance (= too little lift) for the boomerang to return. I have built 3 wonderful kylies. 🙂- The maximum flight range of the best one was just under 130 m..... But unfortunately: Kylies don't come back.... 😞

  • @boomerangstoronto
    @boomerangstoronto8 ай бұрын

    Thank you Winfried!, all the merit is yours my friend for this amazing design. Glass fiber I guess it can be a little tricky indeed but for this model, phenolic was excellent, this one I believe is the 3mm one. As you can see, way over 80m, effortless. I have one kylie, but Gary Broadbent told me to not throw it as (lucky me) it was a historic piece. I am really looking forward to get established here soon in my new city to get more from you, you have great designs and including the original Sledgehammer II in plywood that I already have, your mix of airfoils, edges and undercuts is something that I vastely discussed with other throwers as they have an excellent performance. Thanks!

    Thanks!, it is in Niagara on the Lake, a tourist district close to Niagara Falls, like 20 min. driving from home. very nice place but as it has a tree wall everywhere, then the wind compromises the throw as it can be erratically or just none. But, perfect size for longer distance ones :)

    I didn't even know about Dollarama bringing a 2 wing one, interesting. I will check local stores around here and if I find one, for sure! I will try to make it work.
