Started watching your videos, great explanations of everything I’m trying to get to the point where I can seamlessly insert a pointcloud, a revit model and an infraworks model into twin motion, using the same coordinate system With infraworks I will ultimately build the contours in revit but thinking some info from infraworks might still be helpful for visuals Is Infraworks best option to insert context? It seems As far as the pointcloud I can set 0,0,0 in my software, (I’m using register 360/leica) I guess what is the location system twin motion uses, I haven’t figured that out yet
@ModenaTechnologies5 күн бұрын
Thanks very much, glad you are finding the videos helpful! I use infraworks because of how quick and easy it is to produce the context and surroundings. I'm often not too concerned with the accuracy of the contour's or landscape, because that isn't the focal point of the images or videos we produce. Perhaps something like Civil 3D might be the best to insert contours? The best context would probably come from an HDR or physical photo that you have taken yourself. As for the coordinate system, Twinmotion just has a "Local" and "World" coordinate system. How they link to softwares like Revit or infra I'm not quite sure. I usually export all my models from the various softwares, then position them correctly in Twinmotion. After that I make sure to set my location on the map for accurate solar representations, and set my north direction to further increase accuracy of shadows. Hope this helps!

Thanks! Does tgus have any affect on performance? If your coping something complex like trees, will it save ram using instances vs copies or does that have no effect?
@ModenaTechnologies5 күн бұрын
Hi there, The choice here impacts performance substantially the more items you array. Use the "Instance" method wherever you can.

thank you for the video, not sure if you mentioned buy I also always pin the cloud because it flickers as im using it. once you pin, then click on button bottom right in revit to toggle on off ability to pick pinned objects. Unless there is an easier way to get rid of flickering?

Hi there, Yes I do mention a similar topic in the video at the 5:08 minute mark. Switching off the ability to select links achieves the same result that you are describing.

Is there an easy way to do this with the x or y axis instead?
@ModenaTechnologies7 ай бұрын
Hi there, This is not as easy and really depends on what type of family you are using and what issue you are trying to solve. Revit is set up in such a way that most families can only be rotated along Z-Axis (At least reference-based families). So the columns above cannot be rotated either along the X or Y Axis as they are reference based. Unfortunately there is no single, simple answer to this question.

i think exporting IMX file to Civil 3d, while using correct geolocation, and linking dwg file in Revit is better option, because: 1) you can copy geolocation from Civil 3d and Infraworks 2) you can format surface in Civil 3d by adding more countorus (just by editing surface properities), so easily adding more points to surface 3) there's still some work to do in Revit, but it's simpler than in this video - that's just my opinion

Is it possible in to animate your own 3D CAD models in Twinmotion? I have a few vehicles that I modeled in a another software package and I have successfully imported them into Twinmotion however, I can't figure out how to make them move with the path tool.
@ModenaTechnologies4 жыл бұрын
Hi Quran Are you importing your CAD models as an FBX file? This is something I am not too certain about, what I do know is that if you are able to use the "Custom Path" tool on your imported model, you will not be able to supply it with realistic animation. For example, you may be able to get the car to move along the path, but you won't be able to get the wheels to turn. You would need something like 3ds max to achieve that. Hope this helps!
