100% agree with you. Every dog owner should be responsible enough to train their dog, whatever the breed or size, or keep it on a lead. Well done you and beautiful Lucy. ❤

I just got a German shepherd puppy at about 4 months so far she’s learned commands sit, paw, and down ,& go to your bed. As for potty training , she won’t potty or pee on the potty pads nor outside I’ve tried showing her the potty pads I’ve bought attractant potty pads but still she pees and potty’s only on the floor inside outside well take her for walks but she waits till we get back right as soon as we get back inside she goes . Also she listens to me but she bites my wife even though my wife Spoils her and lets her come on our bed what do I do??

I love German Shepards but the show line ones just don’t appeal to me. Czech/DDR working lines are just so awesome and like owning a Dire Wolf that is insanely trainable. Most families can’t handle them though. They have the same drive as a Belgian malonios.

German practice is to keep them intact until age two. I have had only German GSDs. My dogs are all healthy, except one who was poisoned. My dogs live to about 13. None of my dogs had hip problem, but their sires and dams had their hips certified at age 2. I have had males and females. They all loved me but I was the trainer and took them places. They loved my husband but relied on me.

I've witnessed many dogs being attacked at dog parks. I generally stay away from them now. My shepherd is an old man now, nearly 13. I keep him away from that nonsense. Though in his prime one dog did attack him. Put a hole in his fluffy neck area. Was Small I think his collar blocked most of the bite. I used one of those massive jugs of water that was near frozen to break up the fight. (In the summer) I just tossed the ice water onto the two of them. When the cold water splashed on their faces, they both freaked out a bit. My pup was fine, I didn't even notice the little puncture wound. I'm just happy I had that massive bottle of cold water for him. My pup didn't start the fight he was sniffing bench we were about to leave and s new dog showed up and went right for him. I have no idea why but it was unfortunate. I've heard of people doing water with pepper in it or pepper spray if you are allowed to have it.

Hey boy don't say these things because I already have a female German shepherd and no need to select this because it will hurt a dog's feeling and my female dog was abandoned in the street and we help her so do not say anything

Lucy's like, don't get a male hooman😂, I love this breed and have had both male and female dogs, I find males cleaner but, for temprement and loyalty a bitch is much better, and I find them more intelligent and interactive, had an ex police dog as a kid gs, that dog was my brother ❤

I've walked my gsd puppy around plenty of small dog owners who have aggressive small dogs. At least the ones with aggressive small dogs realize thier dogs are doing something embarrassing, ie barking and snarling and lunging, and try to walk quickly past. It's the ones who have friendly but untrained small dogs I get more irritated at to be honest. They constantly act like thier small dog is just super friendly and sweet and just wants to play. But here's the thing...MY dog plays pretty rough, and has NO problems disciplining another dog if she feels her personal space has been violated. And that's a real problem with two dogs with such a size discrepancy. There's a reason we segregate kids in sports by age and weight, if we didn't, we'd see small children being injured just because they got knocked over by large ones. It's the same with dogs. Just because your small dog is friendly and wants to play, doesn't mean it SHOULD play with my gsd.

Pinch colors are for training only. Some people leave the pinch collar on the dog which is a mistake. Dogs have a high pain threshold. They can get use to the pain and make training much more difficult.

In my humble opinion there is only one dog, and that's German Shepherds, they are beautiful, however your camp fire cooking leaves a lot to be desired, lol, try waiting till you just have hot coals in future, unless you prefer the taste of charcoal lol.

I believe one of the other major benefits of crate training is that you control, to a large degree, the level and intensity of external, mind stimuli. If left to their own, they may develop, potentially, bad habits and other related bad behaviors. Gives the trainer a tremendous advantage in shaping behaviors. It takes a lot of work however because you have to engage your dog outside the crate, at a high level and frequency to see optimal training results.
