Hosted Mike and the band (this line up and later) many times in Leicester, Loughborough and Leicestershire (UK) at numerous venues. Spent many weekends in London with him, stayng with him in Battledean Rd, off the Holloway Rd. After one particularly inebriated evening where I moaned at length about not seeing my kids ( I was recently separated and subsequently divorced) the next time i saw him he handed me a cassette with the achingly poignant 'Lullaby' on it - he'd only written a song for me !! Such a great man , miss him always, listen to his music often. SteveB

Players here are: lead vocals Mike Khan , guitarists Gerald McCammick & David Watson, bassist Lofty Whitaker, and drummer Dave LaMora. I think this is at the Dublin Pub, around 1991-ish. Mike sure could spin the tale, couldn't he?

A bit rough considering, one rehearsal with this line up (Chris Cuthbert drums) since opening for melvins @musicfestNW (Roseland theater) in 2006. Setlist is Shake E. Lee, Dank Hangar, Derailer, Lotus, and Thy Bowl Runneth Over.

From Mick from North London: Well done Eric, a greatly appreciated contributionon as to Mike Khan/'The Khan Band on the web, allowing current and following generations an excellent taster of just what a fabulous experience it was to have seen Mike and his band perform live. I first saw Mike Khan perform in the 70's in a North London pub called 'The Kings Head' (Islington High Street - so many fabulous nights listening to his and other fabulous bands and musicians there - at the time as young punters we simply had no idea just how incredibly priviliged we were to see so many great performers in that and other local venues regularly). I then lost track of Mike until long after his ''Young love'' major single success but was fortunate enough to have come across him again at the end of the 80's in another pub in the same road (the Hare & Hounds') run by Scottish Joe and English Marie, both RIP - abley assisted in their later years by Scottish Arthur to whom Mick & Grace send their very best regards. Joe & Marie lived and breathed live acts/music and staged only top quality bands. We would not miss in particular a Saturday night when 'The Khan band' were on. So sad to have heard of Mike also passing-on several years back. Our sincerest condolences to Mike's family. Such a very deep sad blow in addition to North London. It wasn't where Mike came from, but it was where he and others of like mind of the time seemed to have made it their 'home from home' and very welcome he/they were. Until the 1970's lslington in particular was what those of us who were born there, would frankly then call a 'shit-hole', Mike Khan and others of his ilk laid the foundations to make it somewhat a different place (just wish in 2018 I could still afford to live there! - such is life - but what memories Mike et-al have provided to console me in my economic exile). Mike Khan is sorely also missed by everyone who had the good fortune in life to have seen him/the Khan band perform live. It appears to occasional outsiders to his life that Mr Mike Khan had been 'knocking on heavens door' for many years - wonder if he made it?

I too used to see Mike at Angie's in Wokingham and hare and hounds, wonderful nights. I last saw the band at Lark in the Park in Camberwell when he had an Irish girl guitarist with him and she did a duet on Knocking on heaven's door with Mike which was absolutely amazing and caused me to miss last train to Bristol! Such a shame he left us before the days of social media when so many more people could have heard and enjoyed his music. Mike Khan rip.
