  Do that as Big Mario. You'll start the next stage as Big Mario but picking up a Mushroom will make you small, then it gets weird when you get a Fire flower.

  Awesome list. All of them nostalgic for me too. For me, other memorable moments are 7-1 in SMB 3, which stood out as a whole new kind of level design... and 7-1 in SMB 1, when I wandered into the 1-UP mushroom. It was so unexpected! I've always liked the SMB1 green mushroom system. To this day, I enjoy playing runs of SMB1 where I collect all 10 of them.

  Not to be confused with Big Bertha, who is the fish of the same sprite but is in normal eater levels and has baby fish come out of mouth until Bertha chases it down.

  Back in ancient times, in the early 90's, everyone I knew called that fish Big Bertha. I might have jumped timelines at some point because I swear I read that in a Nintendo Power.

  boss bass straight up ate Tanooki Mario in his stone statue form...that is straight up bad bass! it was always disappointing that boss bass only gives you 100 pts for killing him...and you better move quick, because he respawns in a few seconds!
