  congratulations! never seen a run of this game before, it's fascinating. do you play the norwegian version because of faster dialogue/text, or just for fun? and what are you doing when you open the menu and make yourself moon jump? i've never seen that glitch before

  Hey, thanks for the kind words :) We do indeed play on Norwegian because it's the fastest language ^^ the trick in the menu is called "Brightness Boosting" - whenever Harry is in a ledgegrab or damage animation, and you change your brightness, he gets slightly boosted in the air in a specific direction (based on the ledgegrab and timing of the animation). We basically glitch the menu at the beginning so the sliders always appear once we pause. We also bind a shortcut key to the game, which when we hit, we perform what's known as a 'reload'. It unpauses the game while you're in the pause menu, allowing you to mash on the brightness slider for faster overall boosting method (instead of just pausing, changing brightness and unpausing for each boost). The boosting is a result of a unique quirk of Unreal Engine 1 :)

  Was just gonna sit down and experience a speedrun of a game I loved as a child, can't begin to describe the face and feeling I got when I heard Norwegian voices (My main language). It totally freaked me out! Thanks for this, really!

  Heyy, very happy you enjoyed it <3 this game is a great speedrun, widely known within the community to be the hardest. Norwegian happens to be the fastest language :D I also played and loved it as a child ^^ my main game is hp2, currently focusing on grinding the first 3 games individually, to then do a "Trifecta" speedrun, which is a single speedrun of the first 3 games in a row :)

  I cant bring this game to run. Got the originam pc game. I destroyef my first mouse on the end boss. After that i startet all over again...mixed more potions and got better. I will never forget my grandpa said to my father "What is wrong with your son". Took me 20 more years to figure out that destroying out of frustration wont make me better.

  Haha, that's relatable, the snake is truly hell, even in the speedrun :D in regards to getting the game to work - I recommend joining the HP speedrunning discord.   It's norwegian :D good catch, we do indeed play in Norwegian because it's the fastest language ^^ saves quite a bit over English, especially during the earlygame. Evens out later on, but is overall faster :) The EU version of the game also has a few differences in strats, but those are mostly useful in the regular Any%

  Haha, I know it looks odd - "willow skip" is allowed in glitchless, since this game has no functional out of bounds - this is all collision you can stand on, and get there naturally. It is in fact an exploit to get there and a major skip, however - not a glitch. When it comes to glitchless speedruns, pretty much any trick is debatable, as not all "speed strats" will be utilised in ways the developers intended. However, "Glitchless" does not necessarily mean "intended%". There will still be sequence breaks when possible, jumping over triggers and cutscenes, manipulating AI in games, etc. None of which are intended mechanics. A speedrunning community usually decides what is or what is not allowed in a glitchless category, based on the game's mechanics, levels, engine and functionality (for example, if you look up a glitched run of this particular game, you'll notice it's quite different). This game's community happens to be very active, and the Glitchless category - one of the most popular, so there have been many rule discussions when it comes to the category. (I do agree it looks bs th, especially on a first watch xdd)

  While I rewatch I your video I see you save an entire minute at Aragog so maybe It a really good thing you use the pause menu trick to shoot Aragog 🤔👍

  Yeah, we call that "pausecasting". It basically cancels Harry's animation so he can cast again instantly. Tricky, but worth learning as it saves time throughout the run in many areas

  I'm a little curious I don't understand why you don't touch any little stars but you always touch the save book in your runs (The save book dont make you lose some time In your speedrun?)

  Eyo! The little freeze we get from a savebook does not count for the "loadless" time, as the loadless timer in livesplit considers it as a mini loading screen :D it's also worth picking them up during difficult runs like this because you never know what might happen - some of the strategies can result in a death, and the savebooks are pretty close, so they're worth picking up. As for the stars - in this particular category, there's indeed no reason to skip them (unless they're not in your way), however in most categories, they provide additional house points upon picking up the completion star - which results in additional time spent in the bean bonus room. You can see me intentionally skipping some stars to prevent even the small chance of that happening, though it very likely will not. In terms of movement lines, it didn't really affect the run :)
