    You should have just scrapped that hangar and got a new core and drilled two small holes and threaded in two new bolts directly into the flat surface of the hangar as new contact points this way you don’t have to worry about that epoxy ever breaking loose and leaking pressure

    Man, I’m on the fence of selling my e36 to get a 335i. It’s a sedan 6 speed and basically completely new because everything has been replaced. Rebuilt motor, mmp turbos, m3 body kit, all new suspension. It’s an epic car for a really cheap price and overall the car is an 8/10. I have a feeling I’d hate myself if I get rid of my e36. I regret each one I’ve gotten rid of so far. Maybe I just need to stick with the og plan and turbo my e36. The e90 is a great car but man I love classic bmw’s. I feel like my brain is trying to chase easy power but my heart is saying turbo the e36. First world problems man lol. Love your e36 btw!

    Thanks man, definitely got a smokin deal with the prices of S54’s in general. I did spend a lot of time studying what to do and what not to do. The swap took me about 35 days. looking good you went way farther into clean! I am not going to get as clean as this is a track car but I am going to clean things up, over time I should be near your level. Plus I made some different end solutions from yours. I like your setup as well. I thought the euro rad res is hard to find. I guess not. I do have a Polish friend now that I could source things different if needed. but i have what i have. I think I need something other than a 3.23 rear tho as the 3.62? factory e46 might be the best haven't decided. I at least want a 3.4x

  • @MotorsportThrottle
    @MotorsportThrottle3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks man! I heard the euro stuff was hard to source but found a lot of it on ECS and Bimmerworld, the only constraint was the bracket which I had to order from Europe, took about 3-4 weeks for it to arrive. I used my stock E36 rad and hoses just had to improvise a bit for the other stuff. I’m running the 3.23 now too but thinking I’ll upgrade at some point.

    @@MotorsportThrottle cool I didn't look to hard for it, I asked my local dealer using PN and most of the time they cannot get it. You have to provide a euro vin for a dealer to give you euro parts in the USA, at least that's what they said. I am not completely sure on diff, my Barber times were not significantly different but there are alot of caveats. I will have those worked out, and may even have gone to bigger injectors and started to tune before my next event. That will be NCM and it has 3 long straights. I will get in 4th gear for quite a long time there unimpeded.

  • @MotorsportThrottle

    Yeah bmw is requiring VIN’s now to look up parts! Annoying. If you go with a tune, id recommend HTE.

  • @samthing4thetrack806

    @@MotorsportThrottle I did a tune on my S52 that was pretty good with RomRaider. I think I have heard good things about HTE. I talked to Renovelo and they seemed to have all the tools I need to do similar to RomRaider, which is not robust for S54 now, altho they have most of the stuff. I tuned on the street with a logger. Still up in the air that path find a tuner or do it myself

    I am just now getting to the removal process and will post those later. I did not use the front method because I have access to a lift. A good friend was encouraging me to do it this way for time purposes and "relaxation" of the effort but I wanted the experience of the bottom drop and I can use a lift. It took approximately 6.5 hours to get to all but, AC compressor, steering linkage, subframe bolts and tranny bolts. The motor needed to be shifted forward for the actual drop and in my ignorance I did not consider the compressor to be in the way and it wedged for a little while but, we went up and down with the lift and it freed. The motor also did torque a little to the right but all that is peculiar to how I had it cribbed. Anyway I didn't try to learn the front method.

  • @MotorsportThrottle
    @MotorsportThrottle3 жыл бұрын

    The front method wasn’t bad but I also don’t have access to a lift but it should make getting everything installed how I’m planning on dropping the S54 much easier. I forgot to keep my power steering pump so I’ll need to use the E46 pump and get a chase bays kit, just due go my ignorance lol.

    Yes, you can order one through msportparts.con for $600 or find one and have someone code it to work on the swap. Mine should be here in a few days and I’ll talk a bit about that otherwise ac won’t work. Good news is mileage and vin transfer over!

  • @samthing4thetrack806
    @samthing4thetrack8063 жыл бұрын

    You are correct. After I bought my motor I watched a bunch of stuff while I was tearing things down. Most that I have watched are not DIY but businesses. In terms of tune and power available. While in the modern day 340WHP seems not significant, it is when the e36 can be lightened. I have pulled off around 200 pounds from my track toy. This car has been very fast for what it was with the stock motor and my tune using RomRaider at road courses I have been. I have not been running in advance groups simply because of the 250-60 crank I am getting it seems I would be in the way. That is about to change. I expect to get 380+ crank. I also plan to be able to go full E85. Nevertheless I should be around 8lb/hp and I will be 6-7 seconds faster per lap estimated. Plus a lighter car will be faster than a heavier say new M4 at the same or slightly better lb/hp. Cant' fight the physics. I do run Pirelli castoffs too tho, so those help alot.

    Feedback, if you have pictures of various dual disc clutches people are assuming to hear differences of them. For me this video was disappointment in that sense.
