I don't understand why anyone would be surprised. Unlike like the vast majority of modelled devices, it only has to nail the sound of one thing- a classic low-gain Fender circuit, trem and reverb. It would be more shocking to me if it wasn't a good pedal platform!

Nice playing! How is the amp holding up. I'm getting one. I'm going to hook it up to my Boss gt100. Pedalboard in a box. I miss a real amp. The amp emulations are OK, but....I'm almost 60 and have had tube amps and pedals my whole life. Wanted to simplify, because of all the weight. What are your thoughts. Thanks!

Great video, great story, great point. Thanks for this one. Some comments below: Robben story: I was in one of the first GIT classes and got to spend some time learning from Robben, along with a number of other amazing musicians. At the time, 1978, Robben was endorsed by Yamaha, who had come out with some solid state amps and their version of a Gibson 335. I remember seeing him play a gig with his Gibson and whatever tube amp he was using at the time, then a few days later, seeing him at another gig playing the Yamaha versions of the guitar and amp. His tone? Fantastic both times. I remember thinking that I couldn't tell the difference. Of course it wasn't an A/B comparison, but as a "critical listener" audience member it was eye opening. Similar, but different: I've spent most of my life also involved in the whitewater world, often in a professional capacity. I see the same thing there: all of us pretty good kayakers can't wait to get the latest new boat because it will somehow take us to the next level. Funny thing is, the next level athletes perform at the next level no matter what they're paddling. Of course a good boat makes it easier, but in the end it really isn't the boat. My favorite cartoon that says it all: Wish I had a copy but I'll just have to describe it. There's an old fashioned walk up box office with two ticket windows. One of them has a sign above that reads "New Pedals". There are about 50 people in line. The other one says "Guitar Lessons". There are three people in line. All that said, I still love gear and find myself having to cull the herd way more often that I should. As a full time working guitarist these days, you'd think I would know better. Call me a happy hypocrite! Life is fun when you take your craft seriously but can still laugh at your "sapien-ness". Cheers, and thanks again for the great videos!

Robben's got endorsement deals 😝 so he probably didn't want to jump out there , plus he's playing $50,000 to $100,000 dollar Dumble amps 😳or some custom built/tweaked boutique amps and he doesn't want to tell you that a $150 dollar pedal will never get his tone 😜.. in addition Some musicians try to be too deep.. He's reading a book that's supposed to help him understand how GOD created the universe 😂 good luck with that... cuz the author of the book doesn't even know ... smh

The DUDE has a bit more treble than the Zen drive.. The Zen sounds warmer ! BTW "Warm Audio" has their version of the "D" style pedal that's real good ! The best YT demo of a "Dumble" in a box that I've heard was the "Van Weelden Royal Overdrive" ! Don't know what they sound like in person but sounded crazy on one KZread demo.. - I have personal experience with the "Custom Tones Ethos" overdrive pedal... It's by far my favorite drive pedal ! It sounds good with any amp.. Don't know if the "Van Weelden" sounds good with affordable amps but the demo of the thing was outrageous .. think they used a "Two Rock" or some nice boutique amp for that demo ! Don't always trust demos done with amps that'll make anything sound good !

The main thing I love about these amps is you don’t get the ice pick and background noise of a conventional tube fender. It does enough of a convincing job without all the added mess. That and you save your back. :)

That entire rig. Id settle for and never want for anything more other than keeping it up. I have a black Strat MIM Gilmour FSR. It is awesome but coming from CV and Fusion T i also use i notice the fender medium jumbo frets are a bit low in comparison to the medium Tall on CV squier which i prefer. I feel a bit too much fret board for my taste but i love the guitar and it is my best one. Excellent.

I have a tone master super reverb now. It’s great. The twin is great. The only thing that I wish was better was the slight high end weirdness with the digital quality of the amp. It’s the AD DA. If you’re an infinite tweaker you may want to stick to tubes. If you don’t care, this is a perfect working man’s amp

  • @imanalien2222

@@JayRutherford1 I’m a major tweaker. If an amp doesn’t feel right to me I move on. I was gonna ask how ge based pedals like fuzz face and old style distortion circuits sound, but with the high end weirdness I’d imagine too fizzy.

You can get a way with either in a home setting. I own both of the Blonde versions of these amps. Even the Twin can be dialed back enough to play it in a home. They both sound fantastic, especially with pedals, but the Twin is a little more open sounding, bigger in the room, if you will.

Nice playing man! Very Jerry-like vibe! You clearly enjoy the amp and that comes across from your anecdotes about your live gigs, and I like the way you also objectively present the arguments for using the TM too. I play in a couple of covers bands (electro-acoustic Americana/50's/country stuff - so a Boss ACL takes care of that) and a 60's/70's blues rock/pop band for which I use a 30W valve amp - it's getting too heavy to lug around with all the PA gear too, so I think you might have converted me. Was initially looking at the TM Blonde Deluxe but think the Twin would better suit the small live events/pubs we play. I do like to have enough headroom (and using pedals). These amps seem to be out of stock most places here in the UK, but will try and score one on Reverb or similar. Cheers!
