    Careful folks. I had a juvenile male in a tank with 13 other juvenile haps. Four turned up dead, laying on the substrate, eyes gone, and you could see through their heads where the eyes used to be. No, I didn't see this fish murder his tank mates. But, c'mon, they're called Eye Biters! Plus, I removed him to an isolation tank, and haven't had a problem since.

  • @cichlidspecies

    The thumb rule says you pick one family if you want to keep the bloodline clean. Meaning Duboisi is one, and Bemba is the other or Ikola. Ikola and Bemba are the same so they shouldn't be mixed. I personally didn't want to breed and sell them so I mixed them. I can say that Duboisi were the most chill of tropheus species I ever had and you can mix those with bembas with success.

    These fish spawn like rabbits! I started with 5 now I have 40+ , 3 tanks & more mommas holding. I given so many away but they just keep coming. Is there any way to prevent this?? I don't want them to be eaten but I can't keep anymore

  • @cichlidspecies

    This is a hard one. I would say the best thing to do is not to do stripping and let the females have the fry in the aquarium. If you have a big enough aquarium, they will be like in nature, and only the strongest will survive. Eventually, the aquarium will balance itself out and you will have new fries only when older fish die.

    How often should they be fed with spirulina Tabs?

  • @cichlidspecies
    @cichlidspecies4 жыл бұрын

    I usually feed them spirulina tabs 2 times per week. This is done to stimulate activity more. Normal spirulina flakes each day, with 1 day per week pause time so they don't get to fat and comfy.

    Do you ever have issues w bloat using this food. I just bought it and how often would you recommend feeding them

  • @cichlidspecies
    @cichlidspecies4 жыл бұрын

    The best tip I can give when it comes to African Cichlids is not to change their died at all. Start with one food (maximum of 3 types) and keep feeding that. Do not change it and you will not have problems as long as the water quality is good. I feed my fish NLS the new type probiotics and never had problems with bloat.
