  Co-authored by Holly Knight, Gene Black (both members of the band Device) and the Wilson sisters, “Never” (1985) is AN EMPOWERMENT PIECE with a very vague storyline, but AN OH-SO CATCHY CHORUS❗️ This song is built on a refrain that repeats the title 4 times : “Never, never, never Never run away” Holly Knight considers this part the beginning of the chorus : “We can’t go on Just running away If we stay any longer We will surely never get away” Dixit Knight : “I write a lot of songs where there is a chorus and then I have the refrain, and for me, the refrain is sometimes the hook of the song and the part that people really latch on to. THAT’S THE PART THAT EVERYBODY RALLIES TO.” 💙🎶💜
