I’ve never understood why OCD isn’t classified as an anxiety disorder anymore. But your description at the beginning made me realize. I’m a person who gets angry really easy… looking back… that anger is a lot from my OCD!

I have this type of ocd regarding what is pure and impure in islaam. Since i live in Europe things that are impure like alcohol, pork related things are very common. I cannot touch almost nothing anymore, as praying with impurity would be not valid.

Never realized a guy like Luke Combs could be dealing with something so similar, he does a fantastic job describing the disorder on Joe Rogan's podcast, it is one of the best descriptions I have heard and very relatable.

Recogizing the pattern of the thought from ocd rather than its meaning helps us to discern its lies. Adequate sleep, proper stress management and avoiding substance abuse goes a long way strengthen ourselves against battle with ocd. Like in a battle, we win because we are aware of every strategy of the opponent to achieve this victory. I'm very thankful to my family for finally understanding what is ocd and being compassionate and loving during my darkest hours.

It resonates so much which what I've experience with ocd. Thank you for sharing in such great depth and the reality that it's a life long fight because those nasty thoughts will not go away till we give it ZERO value. And this process requires education, community support and personal hard work. Thank you Cami, Dr Patrick & NOCD

Thank you Dr Patrick 😊Health anxiety is the pits when you have real chronic medical conditions/ drug side effects like myself. My respiratory consultant has started me on a nightly dose of 15 mg of Mirtazapine. I'm currently on day 7. Could we access your therapy team via the UK 🇬🇧 , time zones taken into consideration? 😊

It’s wild to me how complex and intricate OCD is, and can be. Prior to my diagnosis, I never knew how deeply rooted OCD can be into your life and have no idea, especially if you don’t present with the typical “OCD” symptoms like ‘being a germaphobe’ or ‘I love cleaning”

Thank you so much, for this podcast. I'm learning so much from the guests and their own experiences with anxiety and ocd. I feel so good listening to them, it's like someone giving you a hug. And telling you that it's all okay, I understand all the crazy mess you are going through. As you said , hearing it from someone who knows it feels just so different than listening to therapists talking of their own knowledge. Thank you for creating this very informative and powerful space. I liked all the interviews that have been posted so far. You guys give information , paid therapists couldn't give me. Can't wait for the next episode ❤

These conversations are really good, only recently been learning about OCD and piecing together stuff I've experienced. The stuff about being nice to yourself is also very true, this stuff makes you feel responsible for the dumbest most ridiculously unrealistic stuff.

There are "negative thoughts" so that we can also express "negative things" in our world. how else would you express these? (We also express "positive things" with "positive thoughts") The point is that you have to deal with them in the right place, so there is no way to stop them. You can disable these, it works by saying: "I have nothing to do with this because:.....(reasons)"

Sometimes the only thing that helps deal with a particularly horrible intrusive thought is hearing other OCD sufferers talk about it like this . Its like being hit by a giant wave and drowning for a while. And hearing this is like coming back to the surface and feeling okay. I can't afford therapy so this is all I have. It feels so alienating and causes me to feel like a monster, even makes me afraid of God and God's judgement. So I can watch videos like this and feel like I'm not alone. I really abhor to wonder how OCD sufferers dealt with this before the Internet. I don't even want to think about that...
