Eat And Be Eaten HAWAII

Eat And Be Eaten HAWAII

Food channel from Hawai‘i

In the islands the word for food is ‘ai. Plural it's ‘āina, the word for land. So the land is the food, ALL the food. What distinction is there between life and food and the world? Food is the word, and the living food is the world itself.

Pele, akua of volcanoes, is "ka wahine ‘ai honua"-- the earth-eating woman. She is the mouth that swallows and speaks, both devours the land and births it. Our bodies, too, living on the larger body that is the island, are consumed in the endless process to create new bodies.

And so... the world is eating itself, nourishing itself with itself. ‘Ohana, meaning family, comes from ‘oha, the young shoots of the kalo plant-- the staple of Hawai‘i. When you harvest the body of the plant, its shoots grow into the next mother. Likewise our human families and their genealogies.

New Videos. Weekends. From Hawai‘i island, we will eat… and be eaten.

Chinese rose beetles are responsible for all the mottled holes on the leaves. Huge pest here in Hawaii gardens. I may devote a video to that issue.

E.B. Stone makes a Sulfer, Potassium, Magnesium product. It's pre-mixed. Since my citrus (lemon, lime and orange) trees are small but in raised, open bottom beds. I use this stuff reggularly. Any time I see some yellowing of the leaves I spread this stuff in the top 1-2 inches of dirt. Seems to do the trick. Thanks for posting this. Maybe I'll start using my wood ashes instead.

@EatandBeEatenHAWAII Great video. It makes me miss home so much. I appreciate the translation too. Do you have somewhere I can look up the details of this video, for example I would like to know what kind of rock did you use? How many pounds was the pig? My son is getting married and he wants Kailua Pork to serve at his wedding.

Mahalo for your comment! We used porous rocks from the valley- hold in the heat better. Pig can be any size, just got to dig a big enough hole for what you got. Congrats on the wedding 🤙🤙

Hello sir, How are you ? Sir I want to give some tips about your youtube channel. Your video content is really good. But views and subscriptions are very less. You need to do channel SEO to increase subscribers and views, meaning your video is not full SEO. Your SEO score is too low, your SEO score needs to be over 90. Video SEO and organic promotion are the main reasons why videos go viral. If you do SEO and promotion then your channel will get lots of subscribers and views. For now you can do channel SEO or video and organic promotion. Your channel will grow very fast. Because your video content ideas are very good. But, your youtube video is not SEO opportunely.

Never heard it referred to as "black sooty citrus mold" before. Black sooty mold appears on many fruit trees due to the causes explained in this video. One indicator of sooty mold or the danger of its onset is ants crawling on your trees. Ants "farm" aphids to consume the honeydew that they excrete and will defend them from predator insects like ladybugs.
