Food channel from Hawai‘i
In the islands the word for food is ‘ai. Plural it's ‘āina, the word for land. So the land is the food, ALL the food. What distinction is there between life and food and the world? Food is the word, and the living food is the world itself.
Pele, akua of volcanoes, is "ka wahine ‘ai honua"-- the earth-eating woman. She is the mouth that swallows and speaks, both devours the land and births it. Our bodies, too, living on the larger body that is the island, are consumed in the endless process to create new bodies.
And so... the world is eating itself, nourishing itself with itself. ‘Ohana, meaning family, comes from ‘oha, the young shoots of the kalo plant-- the staple of Hawai‘i. When you harvest the body of the plant, its shoots grow into the next mother. Likewise our human families and their genealogies.
New Videos. Weekends. From Hawai‘i island, we will eat… and be eaten.

How do you choose a porous rock? What do you look for
Stones with little holes in them. Best to get from river.
My Uncle Mark grew up in San Francisco and he turned me on to the Lee Hing movie. I just visited there and bought a big bag of them so good.
Right on thanks for watching!
Chinese rose beetles are responsible for all the mottled holes on the leaves. Huge pest here in Hawaii gardens. I may devote a video to that issue.
E.B. Stone makes a Sulfer, Potassium, Magnesium product. It's pre-mixed. Since my citrus (lemon, lime and orange) trees are small but in raised, open bottom beds. I use this stuff reggularly. Any time I see some yellowing of the leaves I spread this stuff in the top 1-2 inches of dirt. Seems to do the trick. Thanks for posting this. Maybe I'll start using my wood ashes instead.
Thanks for your comment and the info.
That's a long time to smoke your meat. Mines takes 3 1/2 hours maybe 4. Once the 2nd sweat starts it's done I take em out. I run heavy smoke for an hour. Than heat till pau
Mahalo for your comment. Sometimes I go shorter too and just finish cooking the meat through later in the pan.
Pono!
Mahalo!
Why don’t you just smoke some Chicken? Or make Huli Huli Chicken ! Your recipe for smoked Pork has No ! History in Hawai’i
Not true, this smoke pork recipe is classic in Hawaii. But good idea I will do chicken too

Next video series: Saimin.
Thanks and subscribed.
Appreciate it!
@EatandBeEatenHAWAII Great video. It makes me miss home so much. I appreciate the translation too. Do you have somewhere I can look up the details of this video, for example I would like to know what kind of rock did you use? How many pounds was the pig? My son is getting married and he wants Kailua Pork to serve at his wedding.
Mahalo for your comment! We used porous rocks from the valley- hold in the heat better. Pig can be any size, just got to dig a big enough hole for what you got. Congrats on the wedding 🤙🤙
Spicy ahi!
A video may be in order
what style is your favorite?
Hello sir, How are you ? Sir I want to give some tips about your youtube channel. Your video content is really good. But views and subscriptions are very less. You need to do channel SEO to increase subscribers and views, meaning your video is not full SEO. Your SEO score is too low, your SEO score needs to be over 90. Video SEO and organic promotion are the main reasons why videos go viral. If you do SEO and promotion then your channel will get lots of subscribers and views. For now you can do channel SEO or video and organic promotion. Your channel will grow very fast. Because your video content ideas are very good. But, your youtube video is not SEO opportunely.
Way too long video for 1 min worth of content.
It was soooo ʻono!
As a born and raised Hawaii transplant now living in NYC I'm glad I happened across your channel. I'm loving your videos and enjoying the laid back Hawaiian style good vibes I'm getting from them. Mahalo 🤙
Appreciate it, mahalo!!
Next we making kitchen stock with this chicken vs a huli huli chicken.
All countries use the ground to cook the food is taste same or smell Steam but the Samoan style, they use the rocks to go on top of food to get the taste of hot rocks from fire , then cover by leaves of banana or breadfruit leaves.once you cover by madd fro ground thats the steam, not nice smell land .
Samoan style seems good I would like to try it
The festival didnʻt have all that much going on but it was their first year so hopefully they will expand in the future. We will visit again next year to eat more lychee. Maybe I will join the eating contest.
COMBINE ALL THE RECIPES
Not a bad idea
Pls detailed video on glicidiya plants from scratch, getting seeds from plant....
I will give it a shot
I was thinking of making this video as well. I also found out KTA makes their own mountain apple brand Portuguese sausages as well.
O nice I donʻt think Iʻve tried those
Forgot to show the kaffir lime!
I never even heard of Frank's before but there it was hiding next to Purity, Redondo's, and Gouvea. Omg it's my new favorite brand now, previously it was Purity. I like Frank's for all the reasons you mentioned, it just seems the ingredients are higher grade. I wouldn't have looked for it had it not been for your review. Mahalo bruddah!
Cool. Three in one week. Obvious it’s successful. Do you have a video on building one of these?
Shoyu or spicy mayo?
You should look at asprin as a plant protector, mainly for mildew. It has also been shown to produce more harvest. As always epsom salts for citrus is highly important
Thanks for the aspirin tip
Never heard it referred to as "black sooty citrus mold" before. Black sooty mold appears on many fruit trees due to the causes explained in this video. One indicator of sooty mold or the danger of its onset is ants crawling on your trees. Ants "farm" aphids to consume the honeydew that they excrete and will defend them from predator insects like ladybugs.
Thanks for saying so, I forgot to mention about the ants
Do you have a different treatment for this?
Kami dari Indonesia, dan bagaimanakah agar kami dapat mendapatkan bibit dan benih dari tanaman itu??? Kami ingin membudidayakan.
