- If you’re tired of desperately trying to do enough
- If you believe memory work is valuable, but lists of facts seem boring
- If you want a true, good, & beautiful education, but don’t want to squeeze into a one-size-fits-all model

Thanks for this!
Thanks for watching!
We love MWC and the games they include! Currently have 3 kids using the program right now - Math level 3, 2, and 1. We've also done level K. We’ve tried other math programs but this one seems to be the best fit for our family.
That is great to hear!
We have used most of K, 1st, and now just got 2nd grade. I tried to move my little guy to other math programs but he loves MWC. He told me when we returned to it that this math is what he calls fun. Hard to fight that 😂 Excited to hear your thoughts.
oh that is great to hear! Isn't it wonderful to see our children loving what they're learning?!
@@HumilityandDoxology Yeah it’s nice! Makes me job easier.
Thank you for this, it was very helpful!
thanks for watching!
I am a busy mom of five soon six kids and used MWC K last year with one of my kids and while it was great and my child learned a lot I always felt so overwhelmed by it as the teacher with prepping all the things for the hands on teaching. I even had made the math kit she recommended and still felt overwhelmed gathering extra supplies and making the props needed. I love how it teaches but not sure if I can keep up with it with soon six kids and a newborn. Any suggestions??? Was considering trying Apologia math as it looks similar but less for teacher possibly…?
I completely understand this predicament. There were many years where I had 5 kids who all needed my hands-on help, and it was quite frankly overwhelming at times. I had to pick and choose what things I was going to do hands-on with each kid individually, which things as a group, and which things were going to be a good-enough-for now. And that is TOTALLY ok. One year or one season doesn't define your homeschool. Thankfully so, because this past year my youngest son has been undergoing treatment for Leukemia and it has most definitely not been our most academic of years. lol In fact, MWC was the only official "textbook" I kept up with this year with him. So, here's the thing. Your youngest children will by definition need more hand-holding. They haven't learned to read yet and you're setting up a foundation for them. That being said, I do not know your older children, your family structure, or the strengths/challenges you and your kids face. I have prioritized math and phonics instruction with my younger kids when it comes to mom-involvement in the midst of busy life with older kids. So it may be a question of deciding which kid needs to be independent at which level in which subject. And only you will know the right answer for that for your unique kids. You certainly cannot have 6 kids (with a newborn) and try to be super hands on with all the subjects with all the kids. It's just not realistic. And that's OK! It doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. :) In fact, I'm going to veer from math advice and post a blog postthat may help you... it is from a mama with a million and one littles (ok, not really lol) and is one of my favorite guest posts. It may give some helpful perspective: www.humilityanddoxology.com/messy-mangers/ Oh, and practically speaking, I always like to start my day with my youngest student (so hands-on mom learning time for 15-45 minutes) and move from youngest to oldest. I think that can help a lot! Have your older kids start with independent work and prioritize the little ones first.
Glad to know I am not alone in my feelings of overwhelmingness! My older two have special needs so still needs hands on teaching from me. Thank you for sharing all this!!! Loved that blog post!!!🫶 I am so sorry to hear about your son. I can’t imagine the challenges that come in dealing with leukemia. Sending big hugs and prayers your way!❤️
I guess my biggest question about MWC is does it become more independent for the child in the older grades?
@@HumilityandDoxology Praying for your son and your family as you walk thru this challenging season. 🙏
@@terrisimpson8925 thank you so much. God is with us each moment.
We loved MWC last year (K) and are continuing this year. Wondering what you plan to move to after 6th, when Kate will stop making them? Or which have you liked with your older kids?
Some of my kids have moved straight into Algebra after elementary math. Some.werent ready for the abstract thinking and we took a few years to work on problem solving and to review topics that were trickier. In my opinion middle school math is just deepening/practicing elementary math and giving all the tweens time to have brains that aren't too crazified. 😉 So it will really depend so much on the individual student for what comes in 7th grade.
@@HumilityandDoxology thanks for the reply! I get hurried trying to find the right thing waaay before we’re there. I need to slow down and see where each kid is once we’re there.
@@JessicaJosie I totally get it! It's exciting to think ahead. :) But you're right...so much of homeschooling is taking it step by step and being willing to pivot as you go! Enjoy these days with your young learner. They are such a very sweet time!
Love that it can be easily adapted
I love the two part student book
it really helps it seem less intimidating to kids!
Love the checkpoints that would is so helpful
Me too. I also love that is is written to the homeschool parent.
We love math with confidence I’m excited to see in the older levels as I’ve only used kindergarten
It's been awesome to see each book deepening and following up on past knowledge! And to see how the math foundation laid in the early levels plays out as the math concepts get trickier.
I just released a comparison of Apologia and Generations math today. This has so many great similarities to those. I can see why people like it.
There really are so many wonderful options available!
also, for moms trying to figure out how to choose the best math curriculum for their own children, this post is a great place to start: www.humilityanddoxology.com/homeschool-math-curriculum/

Thanks for watching!
Hilarious and true thanks!
Is home school fun?
We love homeschooling!

thanks for watching :)
I’m loving your channel! Do you know how I found you? You will laugh…the Bone Song brought me here😂, but I’m staying for the like minded content.
That's awesome. 😆😆 I'm so glad you found me! If I had known that Bone Song was going to be so popular I would have taken it a little more seriously. lol I hope you find lots more homeschool encouragement here. 💗💗
I had settled on Mr D math and then KZread’s algorithm showed me you had a math curriculum review so with apprehension I clicked and then you said your curriculum of choice was Mr D. 🎉 Thanks for the interview and the review on the math
That's too funny. 😆😆 I hope Mr. D Math works out well for your family! It's definitely been an important part of our high school math toolbox. 😍😍
Awesome
thanks for watching!
This was great and so fun to watch! I’m excited to dive into some Shakespeare with my 7th and 10th grader this fall. 😀
Yay, thanks for watching! I'm so excited for the adventure you have to look forward to with your teens this fall!
I need audio book and video recommendations for each one! I want to get into Shakespeare!
We used this all-in-one Shakespeare audio this past year which was *mostly* perfect except for a couple plays where the audio got edited funky: amzn.to/4cuZ0gb For individual plays, the Arkangel audio recordings are *fabulous* amzn.to/4cgwy1r For videos, I do have comparative Shakespeare playlists available here on my channel.
I always enjoy hearing from Emma on the show. How fun that you can share interests!
Thanks for watching. ❤ I always love having Emma with me. Generally my favorite episodes. 😀
Friends dont let ... what???!!! Loved the video, but i was trying to figure out the shirt the whole time. 😅
Hahaha haha! It says Friends Don't Let Friends Read Alone. Lol It's one of the Schole Sisters shirts. I wore it because it felt relevant to our discussion, but I didn't think about how the whole bottom half would be invisible. 😉
❤❤❤ Fun. Insightful. Charming. Plus, I learned quite a bit! You two make a great *Team Shakespeare*👏👏👏
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching ❤
This is wonderful!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad my brainwashing in the early years blessed me with such a wonderful partner in Shakespeare nerdom. 😀
Great video!! My kids are not quite ready for Shakespeare yet, but I love the idea of your challenge. Loved seeing your daughter here with you as well, she did a great job!
I'm so glad we started when they were young with Shakespeare retellings and short pieces of memory work so that by the time they were old enough to dive more deeply Emma WANTED to do this with me. It was such a treasure to have this shared experience together this year.
I love this! Especially the insights. As we approach high school year this is a video I'll save and revisit often. Thank you for sharing.
It is SUCH a joy to homeschool teens and share a love of learning together!
Have you read Five Children and It by E. Nesbit yet? Edward Eager was very inspired by Nesbit’s books and the kids in Half Magic even start out saying they wish they could have an adventure like in Nesbit’s books. 🙂
Yes, my kids love E. Nesbit! It's really fun to see how Eager incorporates different book references to Nesbit's books in each of his titles.
Good stuff 😊❤
Thanks for watching! :)
This is so encouraging!!
I'm so glad it encouraged you! Thanks for watching. :)
I love book recommendations! Thanks! ❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Do you have any book titles you'd recommend?
One of my favorite homeschool books for highly creative homeschoolers is Creativity Inc. By Ed Catmull. I also love Bandersnatch & Lifelong Kindergarten.
oh, thank you for these suggestions!
Lovely chat, ladies🥰
thanks so much for listening and watching 💗💗
Hey ladies🤗🤗Excited to listen into your chat❤
That was such an inspirational chit chat. ❤
Thank you so much for watching!
Good morning 😊❤
Glad you're watching ❤
I really enjoyed this interview. I’m going to incorporate this annotated version in our rotation of classics.
Thank you for watching ❤
We loved Little House and Caddie Woodlawn but I have to say Caddie was more exciting
The mischievous fun of the Woodlawn siblings is hard to beat. 😊
❤ I really enjoyed your recommendations. I look forward to checking out Little Pilgrims Progess and Half Magic books 😊 My boys have been enjoying focus on the family imagination station books 🎉 Also, praying for your son as I’ve followed that journey on some of your postings.
Let me know what you think after you read them! ❤ And thank you so much for your prayers. God is faithful.
Love these recommendations! Can't wait to check them out!
💗📚💗
I’m going to have to try the Patty Woodlawn books, because the Little House scenario you described is exactly what happened at my house. My boys enjoyed farmer boy, but I cld not keep their attention with Little House in the Big Woods, and my daughter would probably love it now that she is old enough, but I will have to probably do that with just her and not our family time.
Let me know what they think! We all loved Caddy and her brothers' adventures!
We are in The Silver Chair right now, and my boys get annoyed at me when I choke/tear up. C. S. Lewis really did layer so much in these books and you are so right that the series grows with you.
❤
I love the idea of adding the Christian Almanac! Thank you for sharing!
It's a fun, quick read and always brings fascinating discussions to our Morning Time
Little Pilgrims Progress is one of our favorites as well, Lily calls it "The Rabbit book."
Love that 🐇🐰
The Half Magic series is on my list for our summer reads! I've heard great things!
SO good!!
I'm so excited to hear what you said about The Silver Chair. I just started it yesterday with my kiddos (1st time through for them, 2nd? or maybe 3rd for me?)... we also have been listening to focus on the family's version of the books (after we read them). It's been wonderful!
Oh I love reading a personal favorite for the first time with my kids! It gives me a chance to revisit it almost for the first time. :) I hope you all enjoy the Silver Chair together! ❤
