Tool Reviews And Restorations
Tool Reviews And Restorations
Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Andrew and I am a farmer in northwestern France.
All of my videos are of things that interest me and I try to make them interesting and useful.
Most of my content is about power tools, I like to review and repair them. I do a fair amount of woodworking so there’s also the odd video about that. I do some metal working although I don’t really film my metal working (at least for the moment).
Antique tractors and farm equipment are one of my favorite things so you can expect to see a lot about them on my channel; repairs, restorations and the machines at work. Pretty much anything that’s simple and has a lot of steel on it interests me, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, even cars.
I hope you enjoy my videos!

This is a long video. What was the cause of the wobble? Which part of the clutch failed?
It’s the clutch housing that failed
I’ve just bought one of these so this was really useful. My blade is about half a degree off however, try as I might I can’t find any video on KZread that gives a good explanation how to adjust the blade. Any clues would be really helpful.
How do you mean half a degree off?
Apparently the charger is not working well, since when you measured it before charging it it was at 12.13 and after taking it out of the charger it measured 12.03. In addition, lithium batteries differ from nickel batteries by their voltage of 1.2 to 3.7 so it is impossible for the original charger to give you the full voltage value of a lithium because it was designed to charge only nickel cadmium batteries and not lithium. The value at full load should be approximately 12.60v.
Yes, I know that the original charger didn’t work that well but I didn’t want to have to spend more money on a charger
Eu sou o comentário brasileiro que vc estava esperando.... Vídeo muito útil e didático!!!! Greetings from Brazil
I snapped my only 3.3mm drill bit for drilling holes for M4 tapping due to chuck wobble. I can't just run out and buy one because they are not a common hardware store item over here. So cranky with Dewalt man.
How well did the superglue hold up? I need to repair a KA200, and the whole base is unglued. So I'm wondering if superglue would be enough, or I need to use some other, stronger adhesive.
The superglue did an ok job but I would suggest finding a better adhesive if you want a more lasting job. The part I glued on with the superglue started to come off again after about five sheets of sandpaper.
@@toolreviewsandrestorations Thank you! That confirms my initial suspicions, and will save me some trial and error. I'm planning to try with some JB Weld I have at home. Not too sure, but I understand that it could be more sturdy and durable.
@MayecRancel let me know how it goes. I’ve given up on this sander because the switch gave out and I have a nicer sander but I might need to glue a base back on at some point in the future
Good
So the 20v are not backward compatible with the 18v?
20v max are compatible with the 18v xr
@@toolreviewsandrestorations Ideal, thanks 👍.
Just got mine delivered today. Looking at reviews as I do haha. Good tip on the chuck for the 1st 20 times. I've read it's an issue but maybe just needs to be used a few times :) Thanks for the review!
Seems to be the only source addressing this matter still in 2024. Guess I _can_ buy cheaper NA tools online and ship to NZ.
Great video. Exact question I needed answered
Thank you
Quick question I know you mentioned not putting it too close to the end or it will break, makes sense. I noticed the bottom half of the bit is round and not spiraled, is that the only place you should set the countersink set screws on?
Yes, you should only set the screws onto the rounded part but I wouldn’t sweat putting the screws on the spiraled part as long as you don’t force the countersink into the wood too hard. Thank you for watching
directions unclear. I couldn't turn off the mute button.
There was no talking in this video
Dude nailed it 🎉
i have a dcd776 drill, what the max size battery i can use in it, it came with x2 dcb181's and they don't last long on the job...uk
no chuck wobble but it slips when under pressure
Of you don’t tighten it enough it sometimes does that but it’s never been a problem for me. Thanks for watching!
@@toolreviewsandrestorations I don’t think it’s the chuck that’s slipping I think it’s inside the drill. A clutch of some sort?
@gregroth4696 yes, there is a clutch, make sure that the black collar on the front of the drill is turned so that the little drill symbol is lined up with the arrow on top of the drill just in front of the speed selector switch
@@toolreviewsandrestorations Yep, still slips. Thank you for responding. It works pretty well as a drill not so much as an impact wrench. Thanks again.
I just picked up a Makita 6270D 12V with the Battery pack from a thrift store today for 3 bucks. I’m going to be Upgrading it soon!
Hi. Thanks for the review. Do you know if these can take pinless blades?
I’ve used pinless blades and they do work but they have a tendency to slip out of the jaws so I think it’s worth the extra cost to just get the proper blades
@@toolreviewsandrestorations thanks. The only issue with the pinned blades is that I want to make small pilot holes and they don’t fit through
@jasmindrace The pinless blades will work as long as you don’t put a lot of pressure on the blade whilst cutting
@@toolreviewsandrestorations thanks so much. I love your videos and it gives me hope that one day I can create beautiful wooden pieces like you. ❤️
personally learn how to use power tools properly before make a video 😂
For me one of the most informative videos on this particular subject, thanks
Thank you for watching
You can tell he never used this before. He is forcing the saw to do extra work. Too bad a good tool a bad operator
I used a jigsaw many times before I made this video
Great video!! Thanks..
Thanks!
Hello. Maybe someone know? Can i use dewalt dcf630b 20v with 18v battery ??
Yes, you can
Veri nice ❤
Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome
Helpful! Thanks. 😊
Thanks!
Thanks for this video.👍
You’re welcome, thank you for watching
Thanks for the video, you helped me to decide to buy a new one. Probably Makita! LOL!
Спасибо за видео. Все очень информативно!
the old cork gaskets 😮😮 aren't much because they leak they draw up and won't hold 2 the surface U are better off 2 use the paper gaskets still use gasket sealer on both sides U would think 🤔😮 by now there would better gaskets 4 that the rubber gaskets W the metal tabs are better U have 2 find a bearing company that carry them and match them up 😊😊OMG 2 14 2O24
Your fucked do a normal review
Thanks for the content...
i can only start my tractor with an 12 volt battery
Yes, the later tractors came with 12v electrical equipment and over time a lot of them got converted to 12v. However if your starter motor is indeed a 6v than you need to clean all the connections and get the motor rebuilt because a 6v starter that is almost dead or with poor connection to the battery will still start on 12v
ok my starter motor runs with an 12v battery better than with an 6v battery, i cleaned it und repair ist und test it lot times@@toolreviewsandrestorations
my MH Pony 812 is from 1957
can i send you an video from my MH?
There’s an email address in my profile
wow very cool, i am hyped at my pony 812, i have it with the peugot engine and with rear hydrolic
I’m pretty sure that the Peugeot engine was only mounted on the later Pony 820 tractors. Does your tractor have the 5 speed gearbox or the three speed gearbox?
@@toolreviewsandrestorations three gear gearbox, but i dont have the simca engine or a have an other type of the simca engine, because some things are completely different a my engine
@Lindino M-H mounted a different version of the Simca engine on the first 1800 tractors and on some of the later 812s the engine had an incorporated governor. Over the production run they mounted many different parts on the same engine. If your tractor has the 3 speed gearbox than it has to be an 812 because I’m pretty sure that the 820s had five speed gearboxes. The easiest way to tell between the two models at a glance is the sheet metal over the battery behind the gas tank. If it’s long like mine than it’s an 812. On the 820s the steering column is much closer to the tank and the sheet metal covers over the battery are much shorter.
most old tractors 😊😊 do sound like its the way the transmission gears are in them when they were made and most of the time U can push the clucth all the way in and let half way back out 2 if it will go in gear like that a another thing did U replace the throw out bearing some of them are just like they will make that noise they will go in gear the O RING was bad and leaking the tractor was run w out no oil and the bearing got 2 hot and locked up and there shouldnt be no metal in the case most of the time U have 2 take them 2 a shop that does that can of work 4 brake linings they can do this while U are there and it should take long 2 do most pkaces 😊😊 OMG 1 2O 2O24
I have the Same tractor and i have an question. Ist there oil in the rear Portal axles ?
What do you mean by rear portal axels? There should be oil in the main gear box and oil in both final drives
ok, i mean in the rear axles @@toolreviewsandrestorations
Yes, there should be oil in the final drives/rear axels on both sides. There is a plug at the top of the pan to check the level and fill them up but to change the oil you have to take the pans right off and dump the oil out
@@toolreviewsandrestorations yea, i have found it, thank you for Help, nice Videos
Thank you! I got the video you sent me by the way. Your pony 812 looks great!
NO. in comparison it is far better get the equivalent Skil Masters 4950MA 1050W and spare around 50€. In the end you have a better tool. Spare part brushes are equally not available, perhaps for some reasons in UK paying an arm and a leg. This model has a progressive trigger and a second contact noisy safety. Skil has an rpm wheel selector and a simple trigger way more practical to use especially with gloves. About intensive users booth fatigue severely hand with their high recoil vibrations, but between the two Bosch blue is the worst and also uncomfortable because the safety is not easy to maneuver wearing gloves. About metal stamped soles they are equal and must be booth modified with a pass through bolt and nut because factory rivets went loose and useless. About the blade attachment clamp on bosch the little axe coiling the spring of the release lever broke and also the coil spring modified again with a little bolt and nut... and a new DIY made spring.
Greetings. How did DeWALT batteries perform after a long time?
I’ve been using them over eight years now, they’re pretty good
Do they share same charger?
Yes, they do

I will do the similar thing as you did. You video really helps. Thanks a lot.
Thank you, good luck with your battery rebuild!
But if you're arms were thicker than my pecker😂
6mm Collet…but will 1/4 in shanks (6.35mm) also fit?
Yes, both six mm and 1/4 inch fit
can confirm palm sanders are slow - make me fall asleep slow. I just bought this a few hours ago to use during my 250 year old Japanese Samurai house reform. Looking forward to less time wasted sanding!
Excellent review and information thank. Well done.
Thank you
