    I had a green Z250a from new, FRY750V, great bike, only let me down twice. First time the crank bearings went but got me home, was a fault on the A models and done under warranty at Russels in Loughborough. Second time in Belgium at a rally and was towed by Terry Snelling form motorcycle news back to Callis, then RAC home. Found a spilt cab diaphragm. Other than that went all over Europe and Britain on it. In 3 years did over 100.000 miles. Do wish I kept it. Still have the Kawasaki service , Manual for it.

    Looks like you have some lovely ride options around there. I had a Drift back in the day, but quite quickly was seduced by the quality and features of GoPros. Having tried videoing rides for many years, as you say, the stabilisation on recent tech is an absolute game changer making just about any mounting viable. Now I attach a GoPro 10 to my chin guard with a short linkage. As for battery life, if I want to go further than an hour or so I run a USB lead to a battery in a jacket pocket. They do have their overheating issues, etc, though the recent Hero 12 is better, but The DJI Osmo Action 4 is a good modern option too that doesn't overheat and has longer-lasting batteries. A recent discovery I made is a foam wind jammer that goes around the GoPro and makes the sound of engine/exhaust actually usable up to 50-60mph. I made a YT on it (and a few other ways of capturing audio) if you're interested in getting your bike audio in your YTs.

  • @martynpriddy1006
    @martynpriddy1006Ай бұрын

    Yes although Reading area is very urban we can be in countryside in a very few miles, I agree the chin mount is probably optimal but the Drift works for me and gives audio - may yet invest in the media/chin mount Go Pro set up though!

    @@martynpriddy1006 FYI the foam windjammer I speak of isn't the GoPro MediaMod, it's a foam housing that goes around the whole GoPro. About £6 on Amazon!

    Interesting to hear your views on mounting the GoPro, I tried handlebar and chest mounts but gave in to the helmet mount, mounted on the chin. Reasons for the helmet mount, the higher view point can see over hedges etc...I can also look around a little bit if there's something of interest at the side of me as I ride. Also less vibration, my go to ride is a BMW G310R, it's a single cylinder and vibrates quite a lot. When my camera was mounted to the handlebar I could run a USB lead to the camera so I didn't have to worry about battery life but luckily with my helmet mount camera I found some 2000mAh batteries that gives me a much longer video time. At the moment I'm also experimenting with the Insta360 ONE X2, image quality isn't as good in my opinion but the camera does give you more options. Ps. another good reason for the helmet mount is I also have an old BMW R100RS, so I don't have to worry about mounting the camera on that bike when I go for a ride, the camera goes where the helmet goes. Hope you find a satisfactory mount for your camera and thanks for sharing. 🙂

    Good review. Thank you. I am now looking at the NXR 2, coming from a GT Air and then a GT Air 2 - both of which have leaked quite badly around the visor seals - to the point of being dangerous in my opinion. Two years on, I am wondering if the seal on the NXR 2 is still as good as it was during your review? The background to this is I am reluctant to spend more money to fix the seal problem after the GT Air 2 problems. Thanks.

  • @martynpriddy1006
    @martynpriddy10063 ай бұрын

    Hmm not had a problem but the seal has to be maintained with a moisturiser! I notice the aerodynamics of the lid do make the lifting of the visor in rain an issue as it instantly pull rain droplets inside, the GT air is a far better helmet in my opinion but then a greater expense! You will notice a 'nuisance value' to having to remove the lid when stopping ( I have an old flip myself - AGV noisy but I love the convenience! ).

  • @neilm58
    @neilm583 ай бұрын

    @@martynpriddy1006 Thank you for your response. The GT AIr is definitely a 'better' specified helmet, but for me, the leaking around the visor is a deal breaker, I can't justify throwing another £500+ on the GT Air 3 in the hope that it is better.

    Had mine for about 9 months. My god it is a heavy bike. Iv had a few CBR 1100 blackbirds though so used to the weight. My last bike was a 2018 z1000 which in my opinion was a lot easier to ride however was cramped on the back for my pillion. I find on the GT that the front feels like its got the rake of a cruiser when turning. Bit odd really. I also find it feels quite “vibraty” 😂. It does the job i need it for but I’m still trying to figure out if i like it or not haha

  • @martynpriddy1006
    @martynpriddy10064 ай бұрын

    Yep not an 'easy' bike to manoeuvre around. It does not turn easily (although a lot of owners say it does!) but you have to ride it the way it wants to be ridden - slow in fast out and a lot of back brake for really slow stuff. In my opinion it manages to feel heavier than it is due to a high centre of gravity!

As you say, the design is supposed to allow the bags to move a bit in wind etc. to avoid that force being applied to the bike. Top box jiggles side to side too.

    Mate, I saw something, can't remember where now but it described that mechanism exactly as you showed it, to balance out panniers and have them "lean" with the bike. Not the sharpest razor in the pack but can't visualise it myself, you get a very small additional lean of the panniers into the corner you are taking not much more than if they were fixed 🤔 Superb bike though, only thing I don't like is the wieight but getting used to it, and if Triumph put this feature in I'm happy to accept it must be useful 😁👌👍

I always used to run a spare cable next to the cable in use, following the same route by attaching the spare cable to the existing one and then wrapping the ends to protect them. In the event that a cable snaps or fails, you merely disconnect the old one at the ends and connect up the new one and adjust to suit. Haven't seen anyone do this for years, it used to be the done thing for serious riders. The alternative was to find a cycle shop and get yer new nipples brazed on to repair the cable😂😂😂 Bloody hell I'm showing my age now eh?
