According to Brian, Freddie did the looping all by himself. Brian said he didn't know that it could be done without the proper equipment. He said Freddie was like a living metronome.

Death gets better and better. It's dark and heavy as hell. It really creates an eerie atmosphere. It's one of the best songs here.

I dont know dude, you percieved Death like "rob not sounding good" while its one of his best vocal deliveries in the last 30 years and said "sands of time/pestilence and plague" is "ok", while its one of the best Priest songs ever. Dont know, you seem very off with this specific reaction, and i mean you never di, but that's just my opinion.

Rob's vocals sounded great as I stated, except for 2 particular screams. Just because a song doesn't do it for me doesn't mean I'm "off on my reaction" lol its just my opinion on the track. I'm not going to like everything I hear and I'm gonna be honest about it. Plus remember this is a first time listen. I might fall in love with it over time

Dude, listening Pestilence and plague without Sands of time or "cutting it" is a total blasphemy.

Italian. And the songs they played live sounded awesome! They were not symphonic and sounded heavier. Death sounds like a Black Sabbath song, they played it on every show on the tour.

Think allegorically. They're painting a series of pictures, and each leads to the next. When you're wondering about the butchering, it's right after the battle of good and evil. edit PS: the Apocalypse in 9/8 is bar of 5/4 and then 4/4, rather that the traditional "triple" waltz time. It's the 5 against 4 tension that underpins the selection.

Rob Halford hired an Italian tutor to ensure he pronounced the words correctly. "Nella tentazione, cercando la Gloria, il prezzota pagare, Ella caduta del huomo." It translates to: Into temptation, in search of glory, the price we pay, the fall of man.

I'm Italian and "cercando" sounds pretty weird cause the word finishes with a different "ó", but incredible song. It's "Il prezzo da pagare è la caduta dell'uomo" btw

I think it is Italian, not a bad song. Death is great, they played it live a couple times. As far as not playing the album though, it totally works as background music to working around the house, yard or garage. Priest!!!

You are somewhat right about the parts, but that is part of the genius of Voivod. They weave all these seemingly disparate parts together into something cohesive. It's a rhythm inside of a rhythm. When you listen to it more it makes more sense. Plus the 80s stuff can sound dated at times now.

Stained Class, this album was introduced to me by an older party friend while I was a sophomore in High School in 1977. This album forever changed me. Even though I didn't have a lot of money I HAD to buy it and it became a staple in my rotation ever since. I never had a favorite song from it back then because I absolutely loved every song, but I think today it would be Saints In Hell.

Unlike Maiden Priest take chances and try different things. Their only flop for me was Turbo . Nostradamus is a great effort.Almost no fillers.war is not the greatest track , I agree.

This album is a musical masterpiece. Many people can't get it from the first listening. It takes time in one's head and several relistening. And the whole album is A WHOLE. Imho the best one's can listen to it is to lay down, close your eyes and listen the whole album from beginning to the end. It has little meaning to separate it to songs.

Was soll das?

Basically, in the previous track Revelations, Nostradamus is discovering his gift and becoming more and more accepting towards it until embracing it completely during the last section, and now War is the vision of apocalypse he had. The whole album really has to be taken from the perspective of Nostradamus speaking, it's all bound either to visions he wrote about, or bound to what actually happened in his life in a chronological order. I might comment a bit about what I know in future videos, if I find anything interesting to say, it's really cool. By the way, I'm french and Nostradamus lived not very far from where I live ! This guy had some serious stuff happen in his life, even if I don't believe he actually was a prophet. Great video as always ! Looking forward to the next ones !

I have never seen that video before - I was sure it was fan-made until you commented about it appears to be "official" LOL. I am totally down with long songs / albums telling a big sweeping story as long as it stays interesting. To me this album struggles to hold my interest for the whole thing. These are 2 of the songs that don't do it for me. Some others coming up are EPIC though.

I am totally on board with your review. I've been listening to Judas Priest for 44 years and remember when "Point of Entry" was released. I was blown away. I love so much of their entire catalog. But all these years later, I still find myself going back to this album more than any other. "You Say Yes" is a killer track! And when I saw them live in 1981, they opened the show with "Solar Angels." So cool.
