Also don’t be afraid to drop in when YOU KNOW you are on the peak and have priority. Some dbags will try to cross-peak the wave on you where they try to call that they are going right when they are on the far left shoulder of the wave. This is total BS and a bully tactic so don’t let people do this to you. If you are on the peak then YOU get to decide what happens and which way you go. Also don’t put up with people that paddle straight in front of you when a set wave is coming your way. This is still snaking so just turn and paddle for it anyways if you see them do that crap. Cheers

The one who has been there the longest should have first option when close to each other, inside heroes and snakes are both snakes. The WSL even woke up to the idea, inside priority creates a shit vibe, if a 60 year old person is sitting in the spot he needs and has been there the longest, he has every right to the wave or at least the option to give you the nod to go - Even if I catch the wave and they paddle in I get out. I rarely walk away angry and catch just as many waves.

Treat surf etiquette the same as driving etiquette than you would be ok.

I can’t even say how much this has happened it’s also dangerous cause the find of the surfboard can easily cut your face up it almost happened to someone who cut me off and luckily he only needed a few stitches and only needed a couple weeks

The thing is, the kooks saw surfing was cool online, they don’t know shit, and they don’t care to learn rules. They demonstrate this over and over. It’s always the same dumbasses doing the same thing, over and over, and sometimes even after they’re run over to even told! Bring back fist fights to surfing. Locals should gang up on jackasses that paddle out with no conception and not only disrespect the local order but get locals hurt by doing ignorant thing in the ocean. It’s no different than when a pitcher intentionally throws a ball at a batters head and everyone knows it’s intentional and thus the dugouts clear for a brawl. Those guys know the rules and know violating them comes without consequences. In surfing, in the age of the internet, if you paddle out ignoring the rules, consequences should be even more harsh for you.

All beginner surfers need to look around before attempting. I was guilty of dropping in when I was learning. I think some lineups surfers might even call-communicate this- state which direction the surfer is going. A frames have 2 faces. I agree, newbies should observe from beach 1st. i think Indonesia now even has hand signals.

a beginner can’t even steer their board; hell they’re lucky if they can even catch a wave. you’re telling a beginner to do all these shit when they can barely breathe after paddling
