Ocean Hops

Hi - we are Lyndon & Sian and come from South Wales in the UK. We both love visiting the south-eastern USA. We love Orlando and the parks (big kids), and the Deep South.

We also love travelling the UK when pandemics strike!

We are hoping to get back across the pond in 2022 and see more Elvis sites, tourist spots and music-related places so subscribe to keep up to date and leave a like and a comment - it'll be much appreciated!

    1960 i was in the audience ( age18) to see Gene vincent ,but Eddie was not on the show that sat night. I was with my girl and a few friend's. One of my buddies who was there with me lives in California and is famous .He sent me a clip pic taken from his car as he drove into Albert Lea to give a guitar seminar. The owner of the motel was amazed when he booked in and took him on a tour of the town visiting many of Eddies fav spots. The reason for his amazement is because my buddy ( he is 80 now ) His name is Albert Lee.😊

    I was also a big fan of EC and Gene Vincent. I am 78 now and so fortunate to have been present with the birth of rock 'n roll. I got Be Bop a Lula on a 78 rpm record for Christmas. What a time for real music. Buddy Holly with Peggy Sue was incredible. Bill Haley, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, I could go on for hours. Thank you for this video as I knew how EC died but I was not aware of his popularity in England. I am a native Texan from Houston, hello to England. My deceased wife's parents were from England and as nice a pair of in-laws as you could imagine.

    Modernisation took over ... sad 😢 TBH ... Ibelieve Tommy's story as didn't Tommy join the Merchant Navy and had ended up in New York possibly around the time that Elvis was there in his early career. Seeing as Tommy was into music too, he may have had an opportunity to meet him, before the hordes took over, so to speak.

  • @OceanHops
    @OceanHops3 ай бұрын

    Hi June. Yes, sad these old buldings have gone. With regards Tommy, he supposedly took him around London in a taxi while Elvis was serving in Germany. Elvis had more 'privileges' than other soldiers but even if he did manage to swing it with a trip to the UK, I believe there's no way that it could have been kept a secret all these years. Red West and Lamar Fike were with him in Germany, and over the years they've told of 'secrets' like the drugs etc , so I'm sure they would have mentioned a sneaky trip to London over the years if it actually happened. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

    Hi Gary. I think that Parker was at his marketing best around this time. All those TV appearances in 56, so the nation could see him on their TV at home and wanting more, then cutting TV after the 3rd Sullivan show - so fans then either had to spend on concerts or spend at the cinema to see him. Course this completely back fired in the 60s when Parker went too far and the concerts stopped as well. Thanks for watching 👍
