TortugaPower

TortugaPower

I tend towards optimization in the variety of strategy games that I play, especially those that reward deep analysis. I tend to play complex strategy and wargames, predominantly turn-based or pausable -- I need time to over-analyze, of course!

Categories: turn-based strategy, real-time strategy, wargames, grand strategy, tycoon, geopolitical simulation, 4X, management

"TortugaPower" comes from my nickname "Tortuga" while I lived in Spain, combined with "Turtle Power" from my favorite childhood TV show.

    If you want more transport-focused titles, Transport Fever and openTTD (free game). Otherwise this is similar to the old Industry Giant 2. Wish I knew more games with the factory focus -- there's Factorio.

    In case it wasn't obvious, let's be clear that this isn't how scientists work. The moment scientist 2 deviated from testing protocol without writing down exactly what he did, the data would have been contaminated and lose a lot of it's use. That guy is the type of person who can derail multi-year collaborative research projects for their own ego. Don't be that guy.

    I'm eager to see Random Pete n°3. To be honest, I had dropped n°2. Don't think I watched the previous episode and skimmed this one. Crafting was cool but fights were formalities and we missed on the whole squad system. So I want to see that and also an agility build maybe. (Heck, I think I miss the actual random approach.) On a more subjective note, I don't think this series is worth it but, remember Barbarossa? You would pause and plan how to handle a given front. Maybe doing that each time you go back to camp could help. I don't remember instances but there are times where it felt like you were stumbling blind in a porcelain shop. But generally I think my expectations are not the ones to follow. Clearly there is a meta I am willfully ignorant of and that seems to be what people want to see, whereas I'm still stuck looking at this game like a roguelite.

    Yeah, I at times was pained by the planning thing in post and editing. Most of my trimming comes at the strategy screen when I'm a bit lost. That's fine for me when I'm on my own, but the people demand entertainment...

    14:30 The monstrous reward is the bear claw becomes permantly unlocked as a starter item. This means that 2H man now has 83% strength ratio on overhead strike and can now often punch through 50 points of armour late game and still deal damage. Which, with the stronger poisons, is all the damage you need to start applying toxic and injuries which are very severe in a strength build. Sure strength build is weak in mercenary and civil life, but there are dozens of people with heavy armour in noble and 1 tapling them through armour ranges from merely "satisfying" to "utterly needed to counter BS crossbow"

    Seems insane for game purposes only. Like we know a full ass brigandine, jewelry etc is worth 100-300. Or that the monthly pay for soldier on campaign is 55 florins-110 ish. So 300florins for room and board is pretty much... dumb. Unless of course that is'nt the weekly fee but downpayment for the house that is paid off at spolier alert 3rd week in maidstone where you get the decision to begin a civilian life or go to war. Making the house worth about 900, similar to plate armour which makes actually pretty logical sense.

  • @toastedsnow7982
    @toastedsnow798211 күн бұрын

    Never done this route, but my theory would be that since the club's "ability" can only target the limbs, it can only inflict limb injuries (legs & arms). If that's the case, then it basically caps out at giving you two "free" injuries right off the rip, with you needing to "naturally" generate the 3rd injury (head -> concussion would probably be the easiest, since none had helmets)

    Hi! EDIT I see what you mean: the payment is a flat 75 weekly, not 300. 300 is a flat one-time fee. You are correct, thanks! Its interest rate effectively decreases with time. EDIT 2 The effective rate extrapolated from one year of payments is still absurd: 1200% interest, and higher if you pay it off before a year.

    I get the impression that the game is trying to punish you for breaking the french merc narrative it usually places you in. add to that the simply unfair economy it imposed, it seems like there's an obvious "correct" choice with duncan. It also makes me wonder what it could possibly have you do if you decline. Like, what could the game possibly be if you refuse an offer you can't refuse? To that end I'm much more interested in the refusal route than taking what seems the "easy out" route

    Just did the Duncan plotline in my own run but sadly died neared the end of it. I won't spoil it but if you expect a more robin hood plotline that doesn't last long. The Duncan plot is built for a run that left Cambri with no skills outside fighting and would rapidly become broke in the main return to England as a peasant plot. The Duncan run is something I recommend you do in you free time off-screen or on a stream as it is mainly fights with trash foes and quite a bit of heavy crossbow enemies that can pierce plate. Lastly there is very little choices and interesting characters in the plotline, It is mainly filled with callbacks to other england stories I'm not sure you have seen yet. So accept the offer at your own peril.

    Highly unlikely that the scale armour can be stacked. If you *read the item card,* you'll notice that all the armours you can stack - in other words, use in the crafting system - have the line right under their item name in the top left corner, "Usable in Crafting." Scale armor does not have this line. Thus, I'd hazard that you cannot use it in crafting and thus, cannot stack it with other armour.

So for, say, mail and fauld, the generic conclusion would be "both are armor, so you can't put one over the other" (even though, historically, it was very common to have additional armour over mail). I'd be willing to bet that almost all metal body armour falls under the same layer - at least, I haven't found any exceptions so far
