This has potential to be a great tutorial but to be honest there is way to much bouncing around with “you can do it this way or you can do it this way”. Just keep it simple

Two of my buddies and I did this song at our University, back in 1972, when SWOSU, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, had a Follies Competition. Did down by the River & Southern Man. I had only begin playing guitar a couple of months before and it was quite the experience for me, but we played nothing in the league you do back then. Love your version. Thank you for posting!

Great lesson, thank you. I noticed that some of that riff is what SRV uses in his song Pride and Joy.

Wow man your teaching style is incredible. Some may find it slow and a bit drawn out but some of us beginners REALLY appreciate the thoroughness. Thank you for this lesson!

Thank you for these lessons. I’m a beginner and having a lot of fun with these. Are you using a pick? It doesn’t look like it when you’re strumming, but it sounds like it on the lead notes. I’m really having trouble strumming up strokes with the pick; I do much better strumming with my thumb and fingers. But then my lead notes sound dead when I use my thumb and no pick. Any tips?

Love your vibe. Created an environment for creation and a kinda “chillin and playin around” vibe and I love it. Going to be playin around with this tune tonight!
