Thanks for the Review. I have a canon R3, and im debating whether to go to a more video capable canon when I jump into Film. You are right about customers, that love seeing huge and expensive looking equipment, so I usually ask my customers do they prefer the look of my iPhone cinematic mode which looks really good when creating content for people. Also, I really want to know, what makes cameras, look more like cinema. I owned a Nikon d7000 which was like valued at $350 when I owned it, it took video that looked like professional commercials and people would wow the out comes.. Also, w photography, Ive taken images w Sony a7II that would look more amazing than the images taken on a $2000 more expensive Sony a7rIII so I guess my question to you is... Do you think I should go to B&H to try on the lens you reviewed on my canon r3, or get a more movie style camera like the canon you own?

I’ve had similar experiences. I shot on my R5 for years before getting the c70 cinema camera. At first I was disappointed bc my R5 looked better. Same as when I got my first dslr. My iPhone took better photos. But once I started learning the camera and its features then I realized why I was paying the extra money. The C70 has better video features than the R5 in the practical sense. The r5 can shoot 8k raw but over heats making it unreliable, plus the codec and the files are massive. The C70 won’t over heat and has much more manageable files while delivering industry standard 4k DCi with higher mbp and 10bit color. I’d say your r3 would be ideal as is. I don’t know I’d recommend a cinema lens. I love mine for interviews and static shots, and I’m getting better at focus pulling on the go, but I shoulda got the 24-105 f2 for my workflow.

Just a small critique: you should have shot the interior of you talking using a higher slightly higher T stop. Your lens is so wide open and the depth of field so shallow that most of the time your face is out of focus. A little higher T stop would have given you more more depth of field so that your face was always in focus, but still allowed for the nice bokeh and soft out-of-focus for your background. A little distracting when you're talking about the importance of focus and you're out of focus. Probably not noticeable on small screens, but I'm watching on a 50" monitor. Keep up the good work, though and good luck!

Great video! It's easy to tell the difference, the shots with the C70 are the ones with the thicker color, and the brittle, thin color ones with pink skin tones are FX6. The FX6 is a great news and documentary camera, but for commercials and narrative work, the image looks thin and video-like. I own both the FX6 and the FX3, and the FX3 has much better color and smoother skin tones than FX6. I know some people will say the image is the same but it's not. One other thing I noticed is that the FX6's electronic ND robs the image of color and make the skin tones more pink and weird lobster color. I don't use the VND anymore and only use fixed Schneider ND filters. When Sony was asked why they didn't have the VND in the Venice, they said the electronic VND was not suitable for high end cinema. I wonder if the VND in the new Burano is the same as FX6 or it's improved. We shall see.
