A man on a mission. Break the 30knot barrier on a WindFoil. I know its a long shot but a man without a plan achieves nothing. Here’s a Video diary of my progress.

Great video. When you say long lines, how long? I’m using a Starboard Freeride 150 with their Freeride foil, and a Severne FG 6, 7 or 8m. Still working on consistent, stable ride height!

38cm lines and back in a seat harness too for that extra sit down feel. Finding it makes a big difference in the gusts to hold the nose down.

Nice video! Would recommend a race foil under that board/sail. The redwing is for small sails/boards. Bit of a mismatch. You use a v8 engine in a (non modified) fiat panda.

100%, I’ve got a Startboard SLR 560 but cause the lake is so shallow I don’t like using it here as it always comes back scratched and dented.

Thanks! No using a soft wave sail on this session (5.3 Goya Fringe). I’ve switched more towards the race foil setup now using HyperGlides on foil slalom boards. The Alien is such a great all purpose foil board, I learnt to gybe on this board and as soon as I started sailing it my gybes improved a heap. It works with more race focused sails too. The redwing is amazing. Best foil in my opinion to learn to foil. Good Luck you’re gonna love it.

I had that foil. Very nice. feels so low drag. I wish more people would try the high performance gear. The sport would grow. I have Phantom now.

When I can get wife approval to upgrade it ;-) Right now its my go-to on the lake, with all the stuff you end up hitting there, my race foil always gets wrecked and the redwing comes off unhurt. Having both the 1400 and 1000 front wings gives it loads of wind range and quick and easy to change up or down on beach. Highly recommended. Got some board upgrades to make before getting to the red wing but will keep you in mind if I ever do sell.

Yep one on my favourite, its the harbour side of Palm Beach in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Only drama on foil is how far you have to wade out before clearing the foil mast height at low tide. Best at high tide for foil.

Hi Jimmy, love the videos. I’m currently riding a fanatic blast 130L with a starboard supercruiser. Similar to your old set up. I’m considering buying an Alien 125 and redwing set up. Do you think the difference in performance is worth it? Cheers, Jack

If you are focused on foil the Alien is a great choice IMHO. I have a Starboard X-15 on order it should be here by September to try and push it further but I cant fault the Alien. It’s mega user friendly.

I have an AHD Compact 83 and AFS Wind 85 from 2018 with 2 front wings. Sails Severne Foil Glide 2 in 6m and 7m, just got a brand new Severne Foil Glide 2 8m. I look for slalom windfoiling and speed in medium to high winds and not the light wind experience. All you need is speed and close the gap!

@@JimmyLtdProductions Not to Old for youth it is just a smaller board than the adult. adult is 95 wide and youth is 85 wide. youth uses a 8 Meter sail with 900 front wing and adult men use 9M sail with same foil.

I have a 1400 gong foil and top is 26km/h before I have too much front foot pressure. 30 is fast. I beleive that the rear stabilisator could be tweaked to help trim at high speed at the expense of pitch stability.

Wasn’t the best conditions to test. Very gusty but about half a knot faster. It feels like it has a lot more left in it unlike the 1400. Looking forward to the winter Southern Winds to come to test it properly.

Good to know there is probably more potential to be gained with a smaller frontwing. I’m about to purchase a redwing 1400 with a rrd pocket rocket to learn foiling. But i want to be able to progress when i get the hang of it.

@@nswart2093 You can’t go wrong with the redwing 1400. I’ve now got 4 different foil setups now. Naish HA, Slingshot Infinity, Starboard Slalom (yet to get wet) and the redwing. The Redwing is the most forgiving and easy to ride out of all of them. IMHO its the best foil to transition from windsurf fin to foil. Have fun!

I struggle to duck gybe on fin. I have tried it on the slingshot a few times, never pulled it off yet. But yep agree 100% need to start falling off more and trying new stuff. Getting lazy in my old age.

Yep, it was a bit shit, started on my new 114 slingshot but far too many gaps in the wind the blast handled this a heap better (at least at my skill Level it did)
