Innovative Journaling

Innovative Journaling

Welcome to the Innovative Journaling channel. We do a variety of things here... everything from posting our weekly drawings for the weekly giveaway to DIY lessons and demos about how to make things with leather.
We are the premier leather studio in the state of New Mexico and our studio is open to the public for workshops and just drop ins to see how we make the stuff we do.

We also use our channel to post product videos and videos of our UNIQUES, something we do every Tuesday.

We are working on.

In time I will create some links below to the tools and equipment we use.
Stay tuned.

    I don't want the string in the center of the notebook. And I have two or three notebooks to put in. How does it all work?

  • @InnovativeJournaling
    @InnovativeJournaling2 ай бұрын

    The string in the center of the notebook is what holds the refills inside of the cover. For each knot there should be 2 strings inside. Each string holds 1 refill per the video. Hope that helps.

    use silicon oil to lubricate yarn cone so thread wont burn or break

  • @InnovativeJournaling
    @InnovativeJournaling4 ай бұрын

    The thread is #92 polyester bonded thread with a right twist. It's not yarn and, it has a lubricant already impregnated into the thread. The smoke comes from the friction that builds up when sewing 3000 stitches per minute into an oil tanned leather. Actually, if you use too lightweight of thread and sew at that speed and then just suddenly stop, the heat from the needle will melt and break the thread. Hope that makes sense.

    Thank you so very much for this! I had the blade totally wrong. What might be common sense to one, is not common for all and you cleared my issue up quick, precise easy to understand directions with a tip of turning the blade around for more use out of it. Now I am cutting laces and have leather laces available quick when I need them! Thanks a bunch!

    I watched video again. If you add belt loops to the snap out pocket someone could attach to belt or use one of the bottom web straps as a belt. I made something like that from 200 mens ties someone gave me when I asked for mask material? Not good for masks! Made mini tie messenger bags! Added a loop and button closure. Added the belt loops when a guy asked for them. Especially when moving around men liked the abiltiy to put on belt because fishing etc if you sit or lounge phone can come out of pocket. I keep saying very cool. But I like when people can make a bussiness from their own wants that the industry doesnt provide!

    Very cool! I have 11 vintage sewing machines now. I like the space on yours. Some of my mid century sew very well. I make townie backpacks, totes, small messenger bags from jeans and tshirts too. Or use the tshirt graphics as our town is high tourist and events and globally known to put on sleeveless flannels. Use the sleeves to make extra hidden pockets inside. This is very hands free town. Women rarely carry purses to go to dinner! I love your backpack. Since I upcyle I keep searching videos for ideas to not have to buy hardware and still have it convertible. Worked out one idea of a circle strap to convert shoulder to cross body on a small bag. Again very cool you made what you needed and make it for others!

    Alright.. just ordered a 10.lb box of scraps to get me started in Leather Crafting.... P.S. the link above doesnt take you to a scrap page anymore, so just search for "scraps" at the top of their home page. PPS, at the bottom of their home page is a form to get an instant 10% off code... even better... "update".... I just received my box of leather and I'm Blown away by the quality, colors, size of pieces etc.. couldn't be happier.. and can't wait to get Crafting

    Could easily add "thousands of hours of practice and experience" to that materials list. Everyone who does a thing well, quickly, has done it badly, slowly, a million times. This is expertise in action.
