  Users should have turned their backs on Adobe already when the company switched to the totally ridiculous and over priced subscription model. Not being an artist myself but but a software developer for more than 30 years, I can clearly say that in my field no company could ever afford to pull off something like this without a massive exodus to alternatives - most of them even from open source. It is about time that the case of Adobe is a warning to all companys who think their customers are only there to nod to every business decision that is being made. The current case of 'Stable Diffusion' is similar in this regard.

  Yes I know 😅 I was praising affinity for not taking our card info when you do their free trial. I was not saying affinity is another subscription service, rather I was mocking other companies for always asking for card info when doing free trials.

  I knew when I was in college using adobe that I was gonna have to find a replacement once I finished, found affinity and bought the bundle it took some getting used to but it was worth it then wasting my money to the adobe subscriptions.

  I bought the suite for a cheap $82. kicked Adobe to the curb, and it felt great. Up and running in a couple of hours, small learning curve. Everything makes sense, fast, streamlined, excellent!

  Cara hasn't exactly expanded to all forms of art quite yet. Not sure if they ever will at this time.

  Adobe is no longer a software for creatives. Those who are there are clearly dependent on the "AI" tools. No creative is like "yea, you can just have my work" lol. Insta and meta is just a bunch of bots. Even the humans on it act like algorithm chasing robots. If the audience/client wants real art? Then they will go to Cara and other future platforms that stand for artists as those will be the links on artist portfolios. They want AI and egotistical "creators" faking every image? They have Instagram, meta, microsoft, adobe and everyone else chasing write off investment millionaire garbage.

  My view on this and this entire world, from my observation, is very pessimistic. Basically everything is getting worse and worse. I even think that we live in end times. I'm just curious what kind of end it'll be. Society collapse? Nuclear war? Total control over population by governments? I'm waiting to see which it'll be. I'm no longer waiting for good, because I don't think it'll happen

  the last few years has pretty much killed me creatively. ontop of losing access to proper art programs, ai art just has started to completely overshadow artists in my experience. I closed commissions, I barely got any as it is. depression from the current state of the world including the art world has just made me lose my drive for it. I draw for myself, but thats it.

  Sometimes I really wonder if millennials are just under attack. Our generation has not been able to make money, fall in love, get married, have kids, own a home or use their degrees. Most of us wanted to pursue creative careers and it feels like even this is just being taken from us. All we get is a degree, debt, living with our parents in our 30s, singleness, broken dreams and the potential of the death of our country, and endless politics and war.

  I can get my rough stuff bashed out in Photopea, I do use Krita and have used Gimp but its interface is horrible.

  Here's what's happened. "AI," because for marketing purposes everything is "AI" these days, has hit a wall that we don't have the resources or technology to overcome. (There literally is not enough training data left on the entire internet, it's all been used.) and because the CEOs of these companies are in denial about wasting billions of dollars on what is essentially a pseudotechnology, they are now attempting to brute force the training data by forcing users to train their "AI" for them around the clock, whether they like it or not, even at an OS level as Microsoft (one of Open AI's biggest investors) has recently tried to do with Copilot. To be honest I wouldn't worry too much about "AI," it is going to fizzle out over the next few years, (as in you wont hear about it anymore) but there are a lot of people who invested money into this, truly believing in what they were told and are going to continue to drum-up noise until they eventually accept that they were had. TL;DR: Companies wont admit that they wasted all of their resources chasing an unobtainable technology out of greed, and now you're going to pay for it.

  I think Cara is really geared towards concept artists and very well established illustrators. The best use case being those who already have a great degree of notoriety already, and don't really need to advertise themselves except to potential employers. Not that it isn't great for other types of artists too, but you are right in that the audience is going to be mostly artists there. I think of it as the next incarnation of Artstation.
