  Have you ever wondered how people got all the way to Oregon, California, and Oklahoma🌎? Well that is what you will learn in this essay [unless you don’t pay attention] this movement was known as the westward expansion parts of it include, the Oregan trail where people moved to Oregan for a better life, the California gold rush where people hoped to strike it rich with gold, and the Indian removal act that forced native Americans off their land. The Oregan trail The Oregan trail started in the mid-1800s, but it wasn’t until the early 1840s that the number of people began to pick up and by the 1850s there were hundreds of thousands leaving Missouri to find a better life in Oregan and 80% of these wagons are pulled by ox teams because the oxen are stronger and more threatening making them less likely to be stolen. But in the 1860s the first transcontinental railroad was built, and people stopped taking the Oregan trail but, those already in Oregan needed a place to stay which affected... The trail of tears The trail of tears is a web of different trails that mark the path of the native American tribes that were pushed off their own land by being forced to sign unfair treaties in the 1830’s, and so the Choctaw, Muscogee, Chickasaw, Cherokee and after failing to fight back the Seminole as well, were moved to what was called Indian territory (modern day Oklahoma) but because of the people coming to Oregan for a better life, the land was sectioned off and sold to the pioneers and travelers until some native Americans simply left the area in search of a reserve with better conditions. But another reason that people were coming to Oregan is... The California gold rush The California gold rush started when gold was discovered in 1848 by James Marshall in a farm south of the American river but James didn't own the farm, a man named John Sutter did, and when he saw the gold, he swore James to secrecy even though they failed to remember that the other workers could still find the gold in the water so word got out and the gold rush began. But the most iconic year for the gold rush is thought to be 1849 where 80,000 people (about the seating capacity of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum🏟) came to California with the hopes to strike it rich, these people are known as the 49er’s. But did you know that the government estimated that around 12,000,000 ounces (about 340194 kg) of gold was dug up in the first five years of the gold rush, this much gold is estimated to be worth 16,000,000,000 dollars (about $49 per person in the US) in today's money.

  I scrolled through the edits of people using my audio and I’m frightened at about how many people I saw that actually used themselves on camera, AND HOW MANY OF THEM LOOKED LIKE UNDER 10 YEAR OLDS.
