    if you using it for just ac this is okay, but if you wanna use it for heat in winter, you want the low ambient temp that goes to -13f or -22f the reason this has high seer rating because its only rated to 5f heating in heating mode, might be enough for your climate tho, also if you running new wire why not just go with 240 volt version it uses way less amps, the whole point of 120 volt ones it a drop in solution for people that already have existing line near by or old window unit built in..

    Great video. Did you ever have the car engine shut down on you while driving? My 2001 Z06 is doing that and sometimes it doesn’t want to start up until the next day. I did get a P0335 code the very first time it did that but have not since. And I did get the Charge System Fault on the DIC once also. But since then no codes or messages. It just randomly dies. I do have a new Crank Shaft Position Sensor, OEM , but I don’t have a lift and the starter needs to come out to replace it. And the mid H section of the exhaust needs to come off to get the starter out. I just don’t trust it anymore after getting stuck twice. Once having to have it flatbedded home and the second time being close enough to push it 1/4 mile or less. And it only has 35,335 miles on it. I’ve owned it since March 8th, 2002. Thanks for any thoughts and replies. Steve.

    If you only had to replace the mid-shaft coupler… 1) how would you remove just the coupler & 2) you think only shifting the engine forward would give you enough room to replace it?

  • @mrnobodysgarage
    @mrnobodysgarage27 күн бұрын

    Doubt it. No safe way to keep it from spinning. Everything on the SJ is actually pretty easy to remove so just yank the gas tank, slide the motor forward, remove the whole midshaft so you can work on it on a bench. You’ll have to use a prop tool on the backside to keep it from spinning while you remove the coupler. Depending on how tight it was on, you might have to heat it a bit to break it loose.

    @@mrnobodysgarage T.Y.🍻 seems like pulling the mid-shaft out is the easiest option as I read more about it. Big thanks.

    If that is a 1983 model it wouldn't have the black headlight surrounds; they would be silver. The black didn't come until later. The 3.3 liter (200 c.i.d.) Thriftpower "Falcon-six" was standard on the wagons that year and it was no stormer. My 1981 Ford Thunderbird had a dashboard like that. IIRC Ford never offered a V-8 in the wagon; they did in the sedan in 1984-85 and called it the LTD LX. It was basically a Fairmont with a facelifted nose. The straight-six cars didn't have overdrive; they had the C-5. GREAT VIDEO!

    Found your video by being in the middle of a midshaft rebuild but I typically adjust that coupler gap by sliding the motor forward and back on the rubber mounts. Much easier than removing the midshaft, which I just did without removing the engine. Just remove battery, slide motor forward to the gas tank, and then twist it trade’s the starboard to make room to pull the midshaft out. I use a 4mm Allen bit as a gap gauge to measure on 4 sides of the couplers.

  • @mrnobodysgarage

    I always try sliding the motor first but when the mid shaft was rebuilt, it wasn’t pressed in as far as it should have been unfortunately.

    Notes for next time amigo. The driver side, you have to align the door the actuator attaches to with a 1/4 inch socket to match the position of the new actuator. New actuator should come with the tool for the socket. And when mine failed it was the teeth on the wheel under the circuit. Just got brittle and popped one off.

  • @twnable

  • @twnable

    @mrnobodysgarage dang lucky you! That was the most frustrating part for me. The gapped side just wouldn't line up with the door and you can't spin the actuator obviously. But yeah mine came with a little tool for it. Otherwise I probably would have made it worse 🙃

  • @freddozer1399

    @@twnable Yes you are right. The exposed gear on actuator has a keyway and must be aligned with blend door keyway. The Dorman comes with the alignment tool not the Motorcraft. I was able to cut down a plastic knife to align the parts.(fits inside the the blend door female gear to turn and align with new actuator. New actuator has a alignment arrow at keyway) I was laying face up and kind of difficult to get the prospective of what your seeing. If I was more flexible I would start face down and look up. LOL
