    Thank you!! I can perhaps swing by if / when I'm in the Tahoe area for vacations, but I don't see a great reason to drive up there just for the sake of a single flyover.

    Why did they remove the stocks from the steering column? Why did they replace the steering wheel with a steering yoke? When the FSD is engaged in the future, what will happen to the steering column and yoke? Auto-Retraction. In the event of a manual takeover due to FSD failure, the yoke will reappear for the driver. It has been mentioned, the Model 3 & Model Y may also be getting the steering yoke in the near future. This is only my opinion.

    I went in that building wayyyyyyyyy back in 1968 when I was in the Cub Scouts. Back then it was General Motors, and my den mother was the wife of a GM manager. It became NUMMI MOTORS some time after than before Tesla bought or leased the place.

    I watch this often since I have a Model S on order since 14 Jan and no news on expected date. But I struggle spotting differences between the model 3 and the S other than the front...you guys must have a trained eye...I keep looking for the red arrows going "Model S here" :)

  • @buckymoto
    @buckymoto3 жыл бұрын

    Go to the Tesla website. Look at the front bumper/hood of the S/X and the 3/Y. Notice how there is a black line with the T emblem? The 3 and the Y don't have that gap/black mark. The refreshed X and S are also noticeably different than previous model years and they don't even look similar to the 3/Y. The Y is just a scaled up version of the 3 in many regards.

    So you can see they're stockpiling front and rear one piece structural castings. But are those useless until they get 4680 production ramped and reliable for the structural battery pack? Or is there a mid section that can use the old batteries and be welded/joined to these single piece casts front and rear units?

  • @nycandre
    @nycandre3 жыл бұрын

    You're probably right - waiting for 4680 cell pack to be available. Making an intermediate temporary solution for 2170's if even possible would be wasteful and not in Elon's style. Remember, the 4680 chemistry can be wet - old style Panasonic - or dry (the new process in development at Kato Rd). So they may just be waiting for the Giga Nevada Panasonic 4680's to be ready in quantity. That would be my guess. There is much less of a tech hurdle for these Pana batteries.

    At 2:25, I’m not 100% sure but it seems like there are two different types of castings. One is the Model Y rear underbody casting that we’re familiar with, but there seems to be another part with a different geometry. It would be great if you could get a closer look at those stacked parts (obviously, without getting in the way of cranes etc.).

    Every time I see freemont, it makes me wonder if once teratx is fully built out&operating at scale. Probably in late 2022-mid 2023. I bet elon puts freemont up for sale. Or announces another us factory like he's alluded to. And once that one is under construction, sells freemont. Probably pulling all the equipment out to supply the next U.S. factory. Bet he makes a nice roi on it to, considering how little they paid for it back in 2010. 🤔

    That's the new TRX RAM Truck 702 horsepower , pretty sick truck if I'm being honest and it is ready for Baja. Probably Tesla is testing the body rolls and capabilities as well as tghe performance of the truck. Currently This is my favorite truck of all time, But i am sure im gonna like my Cybertruck more whenever I received it.

    @@michelangelobuonarroti916 I rather doubt it! Did you miss the scrap yard with piles of car frames, tires, parts? With office trailers and all, it looks like a full time operation. You won't find another car factory anything like this. Its a pig sty. Its also clear that the megacasting scrap rate is so high that they have dumpsters and on-site recycling.

    2 Palladium S at 7:42. One is white and other is black. Might also be a midnight silver one as well. There was another on the test track as well. Interestingly, there was a silver model 3 (the silver that was discontinued) at the top right as well at 7:42. White X also at the top left (not sure if this is refresh)
