Love these games. Soul Reaver’s opening intro cinematic made such an impression on me at a formative age that in my head the Legacy of Kain games are on a par with Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. But as much as I love them, and want them to be available for everyone to play them today, I don’t want a continuation. I know there are loose ends and a few plot holes, yet I find the ending of Defiance to suit the series better than any scenario of Kain destroying his enemies. That’s not as interesting to me personally as the story of Kain regaining a sense of hope.

@finntrovert7 күн бұрын
Indeed! For me, the PC versions "work", depending on which PC I use. For example, Soul Reaver 2 doesn't even launch on my desktop, but does on my laptop. The fan patches are almost a necessity, and at the very least, GOG should talk with the mod developers and have those implemented by default to have wider modern PC support. That at least would be a band aid in case Embracer doesn't care enough to re-port the games.

One of my favourite games ever and I'm not a D&D or CRPG guy. For years I was obsessed with the Ultima series after playing this and I'm disappointed that even with all the money and huge teams that are required for modern games very few games have come close to recreate that feeling of a living, breathing world. Regarding finding out early in the game that an organised religion that sees itself as the ultimate good is actually misleading and follows a secret agenda is not really an spoiler. It's more like a "duh... no shit" moment. For me the mystery still worked because you find out about the Guardian, the astronomical phenomenon going on, the magic failing, the appearance of Fellowship, the ritualistic murders, and the people throughout the land hearing "voices" as separate things but you explore the world to find out how all these are related.

1. I once tried playing this series of games, but I think the theme wasn't interesting to me at the time. But I do watch your playthroughs and reviews of them. One thing is that I never have patience for is platforming type puzzles, maybe because I never played them when younger. 2. Will you ever do a full playthrough of Planescape: Torment. The thing is, that like Ultima, and Baldur's Gate series to a different mode, it's a very personal RPG, so it's a question of whether you want to share the playthrough that you do, and/or whether you want to play for spectacle or not? But it'd be amazing if you did (maybe you already have? I will look through your posted videos after this and check). 3. Watch my take on the 1998 TV miniseries "Merlin" and 1978 Battlestar Galactica on my channel to humor me, I'm trying to say something with the composition. Good question, and I'm not sure. The obvious path forwards would be to follow Kain as he begins to learn more about the Elder God, whose nature even to players is mostly unknown. How does it connect to Nosgoth? Was it always there? If not, where did it come from? What power does it have? That could be connected with Kain having to thwart plans trying to prevent young Kain from ever reaching the point he is in now. As for gameplay? More like Soul Reaver, but with better combat and more puzzle variety. So a somewhat open-ish world that would unlock more as you gain spells which allow you to manipulate the environment, with those spells taking a major role in puzzles and boss battles, which would also have puzzle elements in them again.
