If anybody wondered, Reichelt was 15th after the first run, Hirscher was second after the first run with gap of 2.40. I was a kid, but I still remember that day, that was the best giant slalom run I have ever seen.

Yea, unforgettably strong run. Though IMHO Hirscher's two runs in Garmisch 2015 come close, and Michael von Grünigen in Adelboden 1996 is probably also nearly on par. ;)

Die Tina war ein echtes Rennpferd, auch von ihrer Statur und körpetlichen Stärke gesehen. Da kamen die meisten anderen Mädls einfach nicht mit. Aber nun ist schon alles Vergangenheit, Maze und Vonn sind Geschichte.

That was a bit coincidental. He was only the 2nd skier to go. And Raichelt was never good in GS. So the difference is a bit more understandable.

@@powderfull4858 Hirscher was on the rise back in 2012 and that season Ligety took the GS globe.

Reichelt won a GS race in 2008, had three GS podiums the season before and a 6th place for the season opener that year. Ligety on the other hand had already won the season opener in Sölden by 2.75s from Mölgg (after not even leading after the 1st run) and the 2nd race in Beaver Creek by 1.76s from Hirscher. Hirscher then won Val d'Isere and then came THIS run in Alta Badia with 2,40s ahead of Hirscher in 2nd, 3,70s ahead of Sandell in 7th, 4,14s ahead of Svindal in 11th, 5,02s ahead of Reichelt in 21st. Faivre just qualified as 30th with 5,98s and put in a best time in 2nd run to finish 10th with 5,16s of a gap. Mermillod Blondin was the first to miss out, losing 6,19s as 31st. Eventual result was still spaced out: 1. Ligety 2:37,27 2. Hirscher 2,04s, 3. Fanara 3.27s, 4. Dopfer 4,22s.

yeah most of the times he doesn't race SG :D:D:D let me remind u that he became the world champ in SG in Schladming ;)

Lol clearly you are not watching alpine skiing at all....Ted Ligety is maybe the best Giant Slalom racer for the last 3-4 years but by no means the best skiracer in general....and in Slalom he is nowhere near the best of the world. Thus he doesnt even race Downhill(the most difficult discipline) and most of the time he doenst race Super-G either....Overall nowadays Marcel Hirscher is the best with a podium-rate of over 90% in all races he participates in(though he also only races GS and Slalom)
