DIY Experiments

► Spark your curiosity!

Welcome on the DIY Experiments channel. Whether you’re science lovers, students or curious tinkerers, we hope you’ll appreciate our videos ;)
We’re Armand and Victor, twin brothers engineers passionate about many things, the first one being energy and, more precisely, electricity.

Now, quick summary of the upcoming videos, we’ll show you how to:

• build a coil gun that can shoot nails;
• make an inverter;
• transmit a music signal with LASER;
• create hydrogen using water electrolysis;
• make some electric arcs;
• make electricity with a flame;
• create a flash stroboscope;
• make an induction forge;
• transfer electricity without wires;
• make a lot of electricity using a bicycle;
• make a wind turbine;
• make a homemade e-scooter

And many, many other cool stuff!

Thanks for your interest and have fun watching!

    thank you for this. I work in trade related to HVAC, but sometimes I was thinking if we can use the heat of the condenser to generate power back. I know the power will not be enough to run the compressor itself, but It should collect some power back.

    i want to say that, it's not about the "power" , its about how much work we can do. even on low power we can boost the voltage to charge the battery, by lowering the current. we don't have to work like a giant bull, we have to work slow and steady.

    It kind of "stalls" because it's no longer synchronized with the rotating flux (there is not feedback), I have to search for the sync anew!

    Id wind EVERY LAYER the same direction, so the magnetic fields of each layer would be n/s, n/s, n/s, n/s, n/s You've wound it back and forth, so you're magnetic field of each layer will be n/s, s/n, n/s, s/n, n/s Do you see how they'll give totally different results? It PUSHES the magnetic field outwards through repulsion, Winding back and forth PULLS the magnetic field inwards through attraction within the coil layers itself Hopefully you might try a side by side, for others to see as that's one comparison not done yet ;) definitely 2-3x stronger

    ? What about radiation? Isn't there radiation that comes from wireless things? And if so, wouldn't the experiment be rather hazardous? It's just where my thoughts go whenever I hear of "wireless." ?

  • @DIYExperiments

    Very weak radiation, it's almost like a magnet (weak magnetic flux and unsignificant electric one)

    Here's some advices: The electromagnet coil is too long and too few turns, if you make it shorter and with the same or more turns it should work better, and if you want it to be this long you can make it with more turns and add more voltage, because if there isn't volage, enough current can't pass trough the wire. Other than that this coil gun is really powerfull and it would be interesting with a better coil.
