    2008 Nissan Quest----this was NOT the issue, unfortunately. I replaced alternator due to dead battery and low voltage shown when trying to start. I was also told previously that alternator voltage was on the low end. The new alternator was NOT the fix. I sure wish they had a god damn schraeder valve on this thing, that would save me a lot of heartache. In any case, I really appreciate your video.

    This code typically points to problems in the wiring. I would guess your original spice job may have come loose or got corroded. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors related to the fuel pressure sensor. Look for loose connections, damaged wiring, or corroded connector pins. If any issues are found, repair them as necessary. www.pacificaforums.com/threads/error-code-p018d-chrysler-fuel-pressure-sensor-b-circuit-high.48449/

    Did this all and the left 10mm was a real PITA. Happy with my work, except now it takes a forceful push to get the glove box to latch. Any pointers? From others with experience?

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiess8 күн бұрын

    It’s great that you successfully replaced the cabin air filter in your Honda Insight! As for the glove box latch issue, here are some pointers based on experiences shared by other Insight owners: Latch Alignment: Check if the glove box is properly aligned. Sometimes, the screws that fasten the hinges at the left and right back corners can loosen or be misaligned when reassembly, causing misalignment of the latching mechanism. Loosen the screws just enough to allow some adjustment, then tighten them back up while holding the position. Rubber Nubs: Ensure that you’re not missing the two rubber nubs on the inside of each side of the glove box. These nubs dampen vibration and help stabilize the box. Latch Mechanism: If the latch itself is causing the issue, consider replacing it. Some Insight owners have successfully installed latches from other Honda models (like the Civic) with minor adjustments. Keep the latch of your Insight for the key code engraved on it, and transfer it to the new latch if needed. Remember, small adjustments can make a big difference in getting that glove box to latch smoothly. Good luck! 😊

    How did you mount the solar panel?

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiess9 күн бұрын

    The solar panel was just barely too wide to use the OEM roof racks. I couldn't get it to sit evenly and I felt it was too high and would cause a lot of wind drag, so I removed the roof racks and was left with 5 OEM studs on each side of the roof. Then I attached 4 plumber galvanized hanger straps to the solar panel and mounted them to 4 of the OEM studs, 2 on each side: amzn.to/49UxgQi It is very secure and I've put over 15k miles on this setup so far and no issues. Then I run the wire down to the passenger side sliding door and it just gets pinched between the weather stripping so I didn't have to do any drilling through the roof. The air deflector I bought: amzn.to/4a4xjsT. Auto Ventshade (AVS) Windflector - Classic, Window, Fits Up To 41.5" and it's stuck on with 3M tape.

    Can you still get a proper alignment where the steering wheel is centered, nice video is it okay to install and get a alignment just to make sure everything is in specifications 🤔

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiess13 күн бұрын

    Yes, that alignment is done with the tie rod ends. These struts avoid the need for camber bolts and alignment. Yes, you can still check to see if your vehicle is still aligned after installing these, but it's most likely not necessary since you don't mess with the tie rod ends.

    What temperature can you get your van on that? Day vs night? Have you ever clocked it?? Have you ever left it on full blast? How many hours on full blast would it last? Thanks! I really enjoyed your video. I plan to move into a minivan asap and your build is basically the simplicity I’m picturing. I’m concerned about the ac situation. I work nights and so sleep tell 2pm generally. I can’t really adjust those hours with my schedule. Also I’m a whip and want to do everything I can to be able to sleep in the 70’s in this hot Texas heat!

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiess19 күн бұрын

    I have never clocked it, but in general, it will lower the temperature 10-15 degrees at night. As long as you're not in direct sunlight during the day, you'd see a drop, but probably more like 5-10 degrees. I've left it on full blast for my dog during the day, but only for a few hours on a hike where he wasn't allowed. With my EcoFlow Delta 1300, it would last 5-6 hours on full blast, so I always use the sleep mode where it lasts 10-11 hours to have some juice to run my portable fridge too. It's very good at removing humidity, which you wont' experience as much in Texas. Check FB Marketplace for a used one or an EcoFlow Wave. If you're sleeping by youself, consider a single sleeper setup: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHyqrbOOlK7JZ8Y.htmlsi=wklVM7G2h93UA2b0 Sleeping during the day could be rough, but if you park in the shade and start with a full charge each morning, you should be good. I've slept in crazy high, humid conditions and I got cold at night with it on sleep mode. I didn't know how humid it was until I opened the door. I was shocked how sticky it was. It will for sure be better than nothing or just a fan. It gets mixed reviews, but I'm very satisfied with the ZeroBreeze.

    Last one 😊 my van doesn't have storage "sump" under the bed like you do. Would i be better putting drawers out the back as well as the front or is there any benefit for lift up rear panel if there isn't a lot of height / depth under it for storage?

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiessАй бұрын

    The bed is designed to be as low to the floor as possible while remaining level, so the front end is about 8.5" tall while the rear end ends up being nearly level with the rear hatch opening. In order to get drawers out the rear, you'd need to raise the whole bed system up, but then when you sit in couch mode, your head would likely hit the roof unless you're very short. I'm 6'1" and my head nearly hits the roof now while sitting on the foam padding. You'd have to sit on varying heights and see if you could optimize a perfect height for you and storage/drawers out the back.

    Thanks a million for solving my problems. Trying to figure how not to lose all the width of my van as I'll be solo 80% of the time. Single is brilliant. Didn't think of it and great to see it working so well. Questions.😊 What width is the single? I was going to try 12mm ply but now considering 9mm.. Might this be ok? I was thinking about making the backrest piece 20"" deep to allow more space when in couch mode. My vehicle isnt as long as Nicks car . Finally.. does it matter how long the two individual platform pieces are , as long as the final length fits? Thank you.. You're a treasure👍 To have option of turning it into a double i was thinking of adding a piano hinge along one length and having a flip out piece.

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiessАй бұрын

    You're welcome! I loved my single sleeper setup! It was very roomy all things considered. The single width was 30" wide to allow you to keep the rear single chair in place. 9mm should be OK for a single sleeper setup. I went with 1/2" just to be safe. The couch backrest piece is 16-3/4" deep now, so yours would actually be longer. The two individual platform pieces only matter if you want one end to hinge up at a specific spot. This design is measured based on the rear storage area. The piano hinge idea is cool. That seems like it could work to easily turn into a double sleeper. The other edge of the van could have various legs or a ledge for the platform to fold out onto.

    Awesome build!!! Subscribed!! One of my designs is displayed in my profile picture. The front seat of a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan is reclined all the way back with a retractable aluminum ladder opened up to support a 4” thick memory foam trifold mattress. This ladder is supported with an 80/20 aluminum frame that locks to the second row seat anchors. No weight is supported by the front seat. More 80/20 is used to support the front of the ladder in the front passenger footwell. The mattress is trimmed to fit the contour of the passenger side dashboard, top glovebox is still accessible. A fully functional front seat when needed and the 80/20 frame and ladder fit in one of the second row sto-n-go pockets, when not needed. With a front seat bed, the rear of the van is open to many possibilities. This is one of six bed designs I have created for the 2008 thru 2020 Grand Caravan. Others include a rock and roll single or double chair/bed, built with retractable aluminum ladders. An elevated single bed that folds open up to a double bed. A leg less double bed that is suspended from the seatbelts, which can be raised, lowered or leveled if parked on uneven terrain. And a $20 hammock from Menards, which should be standard equipment for every minivan. With a cotter pin the hammock is attached to the passenger side hinge of the rear liftgate, and the other end is run through the front passenger seat headrest opening and tied off to the front seat passengers grab handle. For entertainment, the drivers side third row window was fitted with a perfectly cut 1/2” scrap piece of plywood wrapped with grey automotive carpet and outfitted with a large gate hinge to support the tv wall mount that holds the 12 volt 19” tv/dvd player. The gate hinge is the easiest way to level the tv from the tapered window. The wall mount allows you to swing the tv any direction for front or rear bed designs. A small bungee cord running between the second and third row seatbelt anchors, holds the tv in place when traveling. I watched tv for up to three hours a night off the van battery, without draining the battery. Menards has everything I needed to build these beds, except the 80/20 aluminum framing. If your next adventure brings you through La Crosse, WI, I would be more than happy to show you any of these builds. Thanks for sharing your creativity!

    @@susanlynn6545 I don't have any more bed design ideas other than my single and double sleeper. I've tossed around the idea of removing the front passenger seat and installing the middle row passenger seat. It will still fit with the double sleeper design, but then you could install a 3 drawer "dresser" where the front seat would be and put the middle row seat into it's sto n go locaton during bed mode, but of course, you'd loose all of that storage space and would have to rely on the 3 drawers instead, which could possibly be better. Another idea I had was design a couple swivel bases for the front seats, so they could swivel and face the opposite direction.

    I've got a 2009 town and country. This is a great idea. Just curious how much do you have in your solar, air conditioner, refrigerator and the eco flow. Doesn't have to be exact. Just something close so I will know about how much I will need to spend for a similar set up.

    Thanks! If I remember correctly, these are the rough estimates: 400 Watt Solar Panel - $275 FB Marketplace Zero Breeze AC - $450 shipped on eBay BougeRV Refridgerator - $150 FB Marketplace EcoFlow Delta 1300 + 160 Watt Solar Panel - $1,094.80 on eBay I'm using the 160w panel on my mobile mechanic truck along with an EcoFlow River 2. Prices on the EcoFlows have dropped significantly and eBay routinely has refurbished EcoFlows for sale. I got both of mine during their Black Friday days.

    @@georgecloninger3165 No, I didn't think so either. Last spring, my home AC unit stopped working, so I used my portable unit at night for a few days while it got repaired. Otherwise, I hung out in my basement. I use my portable refridgerator pretty frequently to keep drinks, etc. cold for cookouts and my fiance lost power for a couple days, so I kept her fridge running with my EcoFlow, so this stuff can definitely be multi-purpose.

    Thanks for the video. It gave me confidence to do the job. The longest part of the job was going to the HW store to replace the cheapo ratchet I had when I tried to remove the halfshaft nut. After that smooth sailing. The bearing did take a lot of hammer work, and I used a screw driver in the gap once it appeared.

    You're welcome. In the future, check out this trick I came up with to remove wheel bearings. It breaks them free 100% of the time and requires far less hammering: Short: kzread.infoKUZoCAPFo1Q?si=IK-IULexluGqX48r Long: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJ-tlLaGipq6iZc.htmlsi=NzNp5izQamFs0OR4

    The EcoFlows Wave blows Zero Breeze away. I have two waves, and 4 EcoFlow power stations. Three Delta’s and one River.

    That's good to know. The Wave wasn't out yet when I bought the Zero Breeze. I would have definitely gone with a Wave. If/when my Zero Breeze takes a crap, I'll go for the Wave.

    @@mjspiess they have the Wave 2 - I bought two of them with the attached battery. They were on sale. Bought one for my converted camper van, and one for my converted cargo trailer camper. See if they’re still on sale

    @@pfwinbar Nice! I've seen them go on sale. I only paid $450 for my Zero Breeze on eBay, so that was tough to beat at the time. With more competition on the market, I'm sure I could get a Wave for a decent price.

    Hi , Loved your design when I saw this and the bed on your previous video. It is ideal for for my husband's and my infrequent camping trips. One question, do you tie down the air condioner with sometime during travel. I am concerned that if you have an accident it will become a flying object that can cause serious injury if not death?

  • @mjspiess
    @mjspiessАй бұрын

    Hi, glad to hear! Yes, I use two thic, short bungee cords to hold the AC in place. One is looped around both head rest posts. The other is looped around the AC unit handle and then hooked to the one looped around the head rest posts. You can see it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mnyF27J9l5zaips.htmlsi=9gdxU_7Tc-sD9lIL&t=406 I think your concern is valid, but it can can't really fly anywhere with it strapped to the seat, but I would make sure you secure it somehow.
