Hey there, it's Anita. 👋🏼 Welcome to the Word Cortex channel.
Here, you’ll find tips, tools, and strategies to communicate with clarity and confidence.
➡️ A little bit about me:
I’m a former neuroscientist turned science writer and communications trainer based in Bristol, England. I created Word Cortex to offer actionable communication strategies to hardworking, ambitious professionals (like you!) who deserve to be seen, heard, and appreciated.
💡 Here’s something for you:
The first step towards effective communication is to know your audience. Often, that’s the most ignored step.
Below, you’ll find a handy 'audience analysis' worksheet to guide you toward knowing your audience before an important presentation. Hope you enjoy it!

“…I am a Manchester United fan”

OMG thank you so much! I have ADHD and I'm currently studying... But i don't have a consistent day to day schedule and am looking for an internship while also waiting for psychiatric help Until then, I'm coming up with new ideas what seems like every day and i just didn't know how to schedule or keep track of them. This will help so much, thank you 😍🥰
this is super helpful thanks so much Anita!
Anita, great video thanks for that work. As a nurse I can appreciate your evidence based solutions.
You did so well on this!
Hello Anita, It was a very useful video. I have done all those stuffs in my previous presentations - Company Logo, Page Numbers; Too much Text, Large Data, etc :-). Am supposed to make a presentation in 3 days' time for my audience and was scouting for some tips and came across your video. Planning to incorporate all you have said here. Thank you.
Well done! Love these ideas!
🤯 Wow this is really good stuff 😯👌
Great video! Thank you so much :)
Super insightful and helpful tips. I'm participating in a humorous speech today. I'd use the "I know what you're thinking" technique then come back here to share my testimony 😅
I personally do like to see page numbers in slides
You missed the authentic 'T' because I was drinking it.
😅 I love your humour
Too bad no subtitles/captions. 😞
You are very good. I'd like to know what kind of "telepromptor" lighting and camera set up you use? Thank you for all that you do.
Absolutely amazing video. Thank you so much
All fantastic I will try them
The audience stays connected and responds well. But on another occasion, different audiences disappoint with poor responses to the same speech.. In both the cases, the type of audience was same.
Lovely. I like all four tips.
I love her ❤
Thankyou mam
this is not how shit works in real life arguments
I like the vibes of your video. full of energy and easy to follow. thank you
Totally got the sound and image in HDMI, so to say. Thank you.great
I am always interrupted, both at work and home. I wonder if it’s me. Maybe I’m babbling but usually they interrupt to say what happened to them of similar circumstance.
This is great.. I also tried to provide a different perspective here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/kZiTqJN-ldLLeM4.html pls let me know dow does it sound
I listened to a stand-up comedian, at a Toastmasters meeting, and the subject turned into a traumatic experience, reliving the same personal event. He also used his wife's trauma. The speaker completely missed the audience's background. I was reluctant to continue with my membership. Another issue is foul language and sexual innuendo. Lost me after the first few words and embarrassed me.
So happy you comeback!
Hey hey! I’ve put together a handy worksheet to help you perform a detailed audience analysis. 😎 You can get the FREE PDF here: www.wordcortex.com/audience
One way to prevent being interrupted is to refrain from being long winded, and a gobsh!te.
This information is so clear, I love it!
❤ you are excellent
Very insightful video Anita! 🤩
Thanks, Andrea!
Have you been in a situation where you've heard someone share a superficial, fluffy story that left you feeling confused or concerned? This specific scenario appears regularly on the popular TV show, Shark Tank, upon which the investors quickly jump to ask for the numbers. 🙂
Very helpful, thank you 😊
I am EVIL So I am PROBIBLY going to use the W and the B
thankyou
Interruptions most of the time are not polite, so I am equally impolite when dealing with anyone but someone well intentioned.
I'll admit to thinking I'm a very lazy person when it comes to designing anything at all, especially PP (well, more so because I suck at it). I don't know how to make it tacky, or colorful or make it fun. I really thought for a long time that I just sucked in general because I every time I make a PP, I just make it as simple as possible. Now I know there's actually a term for this called minimalism. How very interesting, indeed. Thank you for the video!
TLDR: Tell the audience the reason for gathering the data. Then present the data. Then tell them the implications of your findings.
Your beauty kept distracting me. I had to rewatch six times. Thanks for the informative video.
Wow! your video really makes a great impact on me; I like the way you end it. That really was the destination: The Clifton Suspension Bridge. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing this great video with us Anita!
But how do I know what kind of effect it will have? Some I can guess at, but other times I have no clue.
