    Hi Nice informative walkthrough of Tp link devices. Thank you. I am thinking of having motion sensors and smart plug from Tapo. is it possible to use in the following scenario? 1. Govee Light strip plugged to Smart Plug from Tapo. 1a. Govee Light and smart plug are added to Google Home. 2. Tapo Motion sensor together with Tapo hub are connected. 2a. Tapo motion sensor picks up the motion. 3. Triggers the following automation in Google home only applies between 10 PM - 7 AM Motion detected--Turns on Smart Plug for 2 min. Motion not detected--Turns off Smart plug Delay Action 4 min.

    Don't buy this stuff if you live in the UK. The returns process is done by sending stuff to the Netherlands. Your products get customs charges for returns! This stuff is garbage! I was offered instore credits to cover the customs charges! I will not be buying more items to send to the Netherlands! Very poor customer service.

    Ubiquiti now states the “Max” too only packs 3GB DDR4 system memory just like the “Ultra” and NOT the 4GB as previously. Weird.

    I would hope the Max can function just fine with 0 NVMe storage or NVMe storage that has gone bad. My experience with the Unifi Cloud Key+ is that the disk is _absolutely required_ for proper function. If the disk fails the whole unit fails. This is a major flaw in the design of the CloudKey+. The fact that mine shipped originally with a cheap, discontinued Toshiba disk didn't help. It lasted 11 months then quit. I had to install a new disk, reinitialize the CloudKey+ and recover my configuration--not good in a 24/7 commercial environment. I think Unifi failed its customer base by discontinuing the CloudKey Gen2, which didn't have that failure point.

    My hope & guess is contrary to yours. I dont want something wearing out to be non replacable like emmc. When speccing a base model without a NVMe drive it mentions absolutely nothing about storage, unlike other gateways with non replacable storage which do have it specified.

    I love the look of this but, when would you ever need to use a power bank? I mean, how often are you away from an electric socket? I have another Anker power bank but never use it as I can always charge my devices when at home, in the office or when away, when I get to the hotel?

    Ubiquiti: "Here, we will grace you with 1.5 Gbps of throughput. No need to thank us. That's an entire HALF gig more than the Ultra!" Consumer: "Bro, I didn't expect 10Gbps from this small device, but I at least expected 2.5Gbps. What you think you Apple now or some shit?"

    thanks useful info and will be very interested to see full review when you get one! If you can upgrade the NVME using 3rd party devices this will be very good! I'm just about to venture into Unifi! What would you say would be a better option if only planning to run network and protect? Ultra + Cloudkey+ + u6 pro or max + AP? Both will need switches for POE any recommendations other than ultra? Shame they didn't add one POE port

    Love the express, but I find the processing slow. You gain wifi but everything in the UI takes long to load and it also takes a while to reboot so just keep that in mind. They are great for small deployments though.

  • @InsideWire

    Agree, it takes sometime to reboot and to do updated but small offices with few people and site magic makes it perfect setup at low cost or even just a small home office with minimal needs

    I have dual-WAN, so it was obvious which one I'd go with just as a starter unit. haha Decided to look around at options since I'm getting tired of IPFire/PFSense/ClearOS/Smoothwall/etc -- I've tried every gateway OS on the open market, even Microsoft's old Forefront, and everyone at work raves about Ubiquity so I'm going to give them a shot just for the wife approval factor alone when I'm trying to explain things 😅 If I enjoy the Ultra Gateway I just ordered, I plan to retrofit my whole home lab over time, and since I currently use Eero's in bridge mode, I'll probably eventually migrate those as well once I get to know all the features and such. Guess we'll see what happens! Thanks for the excellent video, loved the side-by-side comparison between the two devices since I almost went for the Express instead just to test it out, but the Ultra meets our needs a lot more closely.

    Nice video, thanks. The device I was after was the UDR. Unfortunately, I it has turned into a rather rude education in what appears to be the global Ubiquiti supply chain madness. The UDRs are impossible to find anywhere other than what appears to be a few retailers who are asking way over the official MRP. I am in Australia and even the distributors here have no idea of when they’ll see them again, from Ubiquiti. In fact, I have heard in the rumour mill that Ubiquiti have changed the UDR product name to be Unicorn Dream Router, they’re so hard to find. I am now having to buy a UCG and U6 AP to do the job the UDR was going to do. I have also decided to look for an alternative vendor for SME and residential networking clients, as a result of the craziness I have witnessed from Ubiquiti with their approach to product design, manufacturing and distribution. I simply cannot trust them, currently.

    I just got one after some debate. And it sure is amazing as your video shows! It's quite cool being able to watch the battery charge up so quickly on my 94w MacBook charger. I got it since my MacBook Pro is older and has a weak battery. Now I can go out with this and be able to last longer if I don't have access to an outlet.

    In sub-100Wh battery banks, I care about the input speed more than output speed nowadays, as almost all recent power banks now support enough output wattage for fast-charging smartphones & tablets. (You really wouldn’t wanna charge a laptop with a power bank) Also I want no USB-A and more USB-C ports! A perfect power bank for me would have at least 4 USB-C ports, and an input of 140W ✨so it can charge itself fast⚡️!.. (more is welcomed for sure)

    It's finally here. The ability to host all features of UDM and disable NAT altogether allowing you to front your internet connection with an alternate router/firewall. Something like pFsense, which is a far better firewall anyway. You could then trunk your internet through your UDM WAN port and keep all the functionality of Unifi/Protect etc Took them over 4 years, but it's finally here!! A Video on NAT and Translation would be great!@

    Do you think they kept its closed this long because they thought this would happen? People will bypass the gateway features of unifi

  • @gswhite
    @gswhite8 күн бұрын

    Possibly. Disabling Nat was always a feature of their Ubiquity routers. People have been asking for this feature for over four years. There see many reasons why disabling Nat has benefits if you wanted to place pFsense in front of the UDM. Even though the UDM is getting some great features a lot of their ad blocking and other features are a little fire and forget. There is not much output and you certainly can’t tweak the settings of you get falls negatives. I used to run pFsense. It’s excellent. I would certainly consider placing a pFsense box in front of my UDM. Much more granular control
