Walmart was such a cool place back then. The world used to have cool places. McDonald's had their play places. It's so sad seeing this, actually.

Walmart was something back in the day. Now, what with all these fights that take place in store and weirdos causing trouble on the premises etc., its like the kind of company that Jerry Springer should have been made CEO of.

What I remember MOST about the early years of going to WalMart? When you went to Kmart, everything was made from everywhere and there wasn't much quality in the products. BUT, if you went to WalMart, everything in the store was marked, very proudly, "Made in America" and it was marginally better. That was THEN. Now, you can barely find ANYTHING made in America. It's almost all CHINA, CHINA, CHINA!

Didn't they have syrup pumps (cherry, chocolate, vanilla) that you could mix with your soda? I seem to be the only one remember them having that so far. I used to mix cherry and chocolate with either my Dr Pepper or Coca Cola. I never used the vanilla because I hated vanilla when I was a kid. But someone please tell me if I'm remembering right or not. 😭

I remember when my town got a super center. We were the first in Tennessee and one of the first in the nation, I believe. It was like 93 or 94. It was mind blowing as a kid. They had a massive bakery and donut area with as many types of donuts as you can imagine. Fresh baked bread.. tons of live fish in tanks, toys galore. It was truly amazing for my small community to get such a big store. Unfortunately Walmart has changed so much over the years and not for the better.

My Grandmother was an intensely loyal Walmart Shopper and in the last 30 years of her life she was an equally loyal Sam's Club Member after they opened a location about 20 minutes from us. Whenever she was in Beaumont Texas whether she was low or not she would always stop at the Sam's Club there for gas.

Nothing is forever. I'm sure Kmart thought that they would never go under. 20 years and everyone will be saying Walmart who.? Some people don't live long after getting cancer my grandma died within three weeks of finding out she had it. I think a lot of people think they would have a year but a lot don't.
