    This video is amazing…best explanation of how it all works out there…so well done. I have a 2023 Z51 and I came to this video because of this chirping squeak I keep hearing from the exhaust at very low idle when backing up or just starting to pull forward. This is in Touring mode. Any idea what that would be? It seems like it must be something with the NPP valves? Appreciate any info man, thanks again!

    As a mechanical engineer…. I’m sooooooo tired of the mid engine is better that front. First, mid engine simply means the motor sits between the front and rear axles. The C7 is front mid and the c8 is rear mid, but they are both mid engine. This is inarguable. Now, as to performance the rear mid is NOT better than front mid - it is different. Both platforms have advantages and disadvantages. NO platform is “best”. Regardless of the marketing department hype that everyone eats like ice cream, real world results are the only measure that matters. As I type this the Mercedes AMG Black is the fastest OEM car around the Nurbergring - it’s front mid engine - followed by the GT3 RS - it rear engine not rear mid but REAR past the back axel - followed by the Lamborghini SVJ which is, finally, mid rear. These are FACTs folks. That’s not to say, for example, that the c8 Z06 or, more likely, the C8 ZR1 might take the Nurbergring crown but until then a front mid engine is on top in the AMG Black. This simply underscores the point that one is not better than another - they are different each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Frankly anybody who bought a c8 z06 and doesn’t have a lot of seat time on a track is gonna be awfully pissed when something like a Viper Acr (front mid engine) wipes the track with them with someone a bit more experienced behind the wheel. Finally, I own currently a 19 GS with a full NA build and the M7 making 545hp at the tires. I also own a base c8 z06. I’m very fortunate. Anyway, I actually like my GS better. It’s more torquey, it drifts miles better than the 8 and it’s much much more raw which for me is the important part of the experience. Am I faster around the track in the 8 all else equal? Yes but only by the smallest margins. Also - side note I personally think the Lt1 with headers, green cats and a quality cat back exhaust (corsa for example) sounds better than the c8. It is crazy loud and screams bald eagles like it’s a job. Obviously this is my personal opinion - everyone should by what they like. That said the performance metrics are 2x2=4 facts and 98% of corvette buyers can’t get to the performer capability of either an 8 OR a 7. It is true the C8 has a better interior. I personally couldn’t care less about that at 160plus on the front straight at my local club track. If you want interior stuff get a luxury car, but that’s just me. ✌️

    Amazing! Unfortunately, I'm having a couple issues that I believe are probably in the same module, wiring harness or relay. Every once and while and now more frequently, I press the start button and it will NOT turn over. Then the car will NOT shut off. I have to disconnect the battery for a minute or 2 and then it starts with no problem. The trunk says it's open when it's not, the rear camera sometimes doesn't work. every once and a while the car says key fab battery low, changed the battery and it still says it. Started using the second key fab and same thing. Any clue if they are all related in a certain area.

  • @2008M5

    Your videos are quite amazing. The freaking C8 is like made with legos. Mine developed a metallic 'slide' noise. When I make a sharp left turn something slides probably about a foot or less. Making a sharp right makes it go the opposite way. Both ways, it won't slide any further if I make 2 consecutive lefts or rights so I am think ing it's either in a channel or some kind of depression. Sounds like it runs along where the back of the seats are. In your dissasembling, have you seen any spots where something like that may occur if let's say a coin drops where the carpet is cut at the seat anchor locations? Thx

    Working on a wrecked 2020 as we speak. Found your video looking for an answer you may have. Previous owner replaced rack and pinion from a different car (it’s programmed to the other cars vin) is the assist motor on the rack what gets programmed? (Is that the module) If so, I should be able to just replace the assist motor and program it. Thanks!

  • @squirrelcagegarage

    I believe they are all serviced as one component, and once the vin is programmed it can't be re programmed. Meaning you'll have to buy a new one and program it.

    tech question: I want to install a fuel pump cut off switch strictly as a theft deterrent by wiring a toggle switch to the red wire going into the fuel pump module. Then run a longer wire with the in line toggle switch to a remote location. do you think this would disable the car when the cut off switch was tripped to off.

  • @squirrelcagegarage
    @squirrelcagegarageАй бұрын

    You have to be careful with this. There are many ways to wire up a kill switch and for obvious reasons I have not made a video on how to do so. Personally I would wire a kill switch on the ground side and not the power as the fuel pump control module has multiple sources of power input. And when you are doing this you need to be 1000% sure you are using the proper gauge wire, capacity of switch, fuses, relays (if necessary )and length of wire because otherwise you can damage some other components.

  • @squirrelcagegarage
    @squirrelcagegarageАй бұрын

    @@frankli9450 there is to a degree in the sense of there is baffling in the oil tank and on the valve covers. However there are still pcv lines that come straight off the valve covers into the intake as well as a like that comes of the valley cover and into the intake manifold. I ran a catch can on mine personally, some people will argue that they are pointless, I personally disagree and no one can argue that even if you run one, you certainly aren't hurting anything either, so they can only benefit.

    Very cool. The Frunk gets warm as well. One point. The largest source of heat on the Stingray is the two wells at each side. Probably 90%. I put squares of insulation along bottom, cut and fit, no tape, the wells. Put the Chevy Trunk protective liner over that. Pretty much done. Long trip, pretty close to ambient. Tracking, might get a bit more from engine.
