Welcome to My Channel!
Over the last 16 years I have repaired, modified, and upgraded numerous camping trailers and RVs. I'm not a pro, but I do have some knowledge and experience that I want to share with you. My current trailers are a 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express 233RBS, and a 2017 Flagstaff T19QBHW A frame. Follow along as I post videos of some of the work that I have done, and hopefully it will help you with your own projects.
Keep an eye out for videos regarding my other hobbies and interests, like DIY TV Antennas, Product reviews and more.
Check out my 5 minute Campground Reviews and Ratings They have all the important information you want and need to choose your next camping location, without getting long and boring.
I hope you enjoy my Shorts. They might not always be on topic, but I try to do some fun and interesting things for you.

that's pretty cool. I had made a dual that worked pretty well, but I never got around to making a quad.
Thanks for watching my channel
Very Professional.
Thank you, that's truly appreciated. Thanks for watching my channel!
Thank you sooo much! We’re thinking about a Aliner. We are nervous about it. We don’t do starter anything.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching my channel!
Simple but great tip - idea. Sometimes we just don't think of these easy tips to make our life easier. Thank you Mr Hoptoit.
You are welcome! Thanks for watching my channel.
Look online for a 300 to 75 ohm balun. Because that's what they are. So as not to mislead, it's 300 ohm to 75ohm impeadance.
Thanks for the comment
Have you tried the $3.59 chinese preamps.. usb signal boosters. What is your experience? Thanks
I have not. Looks like something I should try. Thanks for the idea!
THANKS!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching my channel.
Thanks for this video! I’m in the process of buying an A frame type camper; this helps narrow my search down…. I won’t be buying a Flagstaff. Particle board floor? And it appears the structural steel members are rusting pretty bad..
Thanks for watching
We're did you get the seal I'm having the same problem with my freedom express? Thanks your video iit s a big help
Here's the link to it - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BGH1465Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks for watching!
Sounds like a good place to set up if your visiting Boone. I'll bet the winding roads were a little scary! Nice video
We took it slow and managed to survive..lol
That's awesome! Gotta be a lot of books there...
Yup, a whole bunch.
I’m wondering how the KOA would handle a 42 foot fifth wheel?
They have a few longer sites that might handle it. I'd call and ask; they're friendly. Getting it to the campground may be a challenge.
How do I get free cable ?
No idea. These antennas will get you free over the air channels broadcast in your area.
Good job antenna is a good design
Thanks. Its been popular. Another antenna is in the works, so keep watching my channel!
Good honest review as usual. Great job Sophi as well.
Glad you liked it!
I was watching your top seal replacement video. Did you replace that skylight with lexan? It appeared to be flat.
Nope. I've replaced the two front skylights with regular dome skylights. The rear skylight, although not leaking, is next . Hopefully this summer. Thanks for watching.
Oh, what is the silo surprise???
If enough people ask, I'll post a hidden link to show it.
Thank you for the detailed information. Any one going to this area will benefit!
Glad it was helpful!
Just a point to clear things up: There is no such thing as an HDTV antenna.
Well technically there is no DIFFERENCE between an analog, digital, 4k, or HDTV TV antenna. They do exist. If its hooked up to an HDTV, then you can refer to it as an "HDTV antenna" just like an anchor attached to a boat is considered a "boat anchor". Of course, I'm making an accurate but inane comment. LOL Thanks for watching.
Beautiful video, you certainly know.how to improvised
Thank you very much!
thanks worked good
Good to hear
Hello MHTI, did you think of more improvements to the double hoop antenna Sir ??
Hi VF. I've actually been out on the road. More antenna videos soon!
@@mrhoptoit7835 I have to tell you Sir. You are one impressive fella with antenna making. I am bogged down with so much to do my antenna progress has suffered. Look forward to your new videos too. Peace v
As always VF, I appreciate your support and comments, and your thoughtful ideas. Keep watching, please!
@@mrhoptoit7835 Will do just that Sir. Nice videos for us all to see. Job well done too. v
Mr. Hop To It, would 10 gauge copper wire that still has its insulation and then twisted work better ?? Just an idea Sir. What would you say fella ??
I haven't tested that, but I doubt it would have any significant effect.
@@mrhoptoit7835 Would short perpendicular hairs 1/4 inch long made of copper on the outside of the tubing make a difference ?? How about coating the outside of the copper element with silver plating using electroplating ?? Just had these ideas floating around in my mind. Thank you so much for your time MHTI. Wish you health and wealth too.
@victoryfirst2878 always thinking, aren't you? Interesting ideas but I don't believe whiskers would help much. As far as silver coating copper, I don't think there is enough of a potential gain to justify doing it.
@@mrhoptoit7835 Thank you for your honest answers.
Good review. It is helpful to understand the good and not so good items at the different campgrounds, Thanks
I try to keep my reviews to the point, and based on what most campers would want to know. Thanks for watching, more reviews on the way!
I want one! Who can make it?
Thanks for watching
This is a KOA that I am considering on my next trip to the outer banks. Nice job.
We liked it a lot, but remember this campground can be a different environment when the camping season is in full swing and its wall to wall. Thanks so much for watching.
I’m sure this antenna works, but I am confused about the length of wire used. I though the calculation for full loops is Circumference (ft) = 1005/freq (mhz) 1005/525mhz = 1.91’ = 23 inch circumference, which is about 7.3” diameter. Your antenna is about 3x the size. Am I calculating this incorrectly?
Very good show
Thanks for liking
Sim chip and a peice of cable batteries wire combine them for free cable
I'm not sure how that would work. Thanks for watching.
Got my hoop antenna built, now to try it out!! Thanks!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Have you had to replace the rubber seal on the top end of the same wall?
No I have not. I have another video where I discuss how the top seals can stick and tear, and how to prevent that from happening. Check it out here - kzread.info/dash/bejne/nK2mpM-JnbndmZc.html. If your seal damage is a clean tear, it can often just be repaired with a bit of Super glue. Thanks for watching.
Did you install those corner L-brackets between the front and side walls, or did they already come on your trailer? Also, what size rivets do you use to re attach the sleeves? My side wall is separating and I am wondering if it is being cause by these tension bar / roof springs.
When I purchased the camper used, the brackets had been installed by the previous owner. I don't remember the rivet size, I basically matched up the new rivet size with the old ones. I have seen side walls separating before. Although the tension of the torsion rods is forcing the wall apart, there could be water damage to the wall frame. Be sure to check it over.
Hi again, I have tested this antenna on the boat with very satisfactory results. I was also wondering if I should add a couple more arm on it to cover the full 360 degrees circle. Would this work as well as the circle aerial.? your thoughts please.
The three elements usually do a good job pulling in signals from 360 degrees. If you want to try more element arms, I'm not sure of the results. This antenna normally gets better reception than the hoop antenna.
@@mrhoptoit7835 ok, Thanks heaps.
I have a 20 year old aliner expedition it is still like new. The build quality is amazing. It seems like the flagstaff is a poor imitation in the videos ive seen
There are things in ALiners that I like and things in Flagstaff I like, as I've owned both of them. Thanks for watching
Will this work with just aluminum foil?
If you make a disc out of aluminum foil it should work. Pie pans are just easier to use
@@mrhoptoit7835 Thanks!
I've watched all of your repairs and the pros and cons and want to thank you for them. Knowing all of this, I have a chance to buy a used aframe at a reasonable price but am wondering if you would still recommend an aframe in general or a Flagstaff in particular? (The camper I'm looking at specifically is a 2014 Flagstaff with no water damage thus far. Bubble windows have all been eternabonded.)
I'd always recommend an AFrame Camper. They have a lot going for them, but they do take more TLC and upkeep, so they are not for everyone. I have owned both Flagstaff and ALiner, and there are things I like and dislike about both. The decision is yours! Good luck and Thanks so much for watching.
@@mrhoptoit7835 Thank you. I appreciate your response and advice.
Good video and maintenance tip.
Thanks 👍
Ours is a love hate relationship with our aframe
That's understandable!
I like your decision for buying the camping trailer. Nice choice fella too. Enjoy the ride. What would you suggest in buying a camera Sir ??
That depends on what type of camera you want. Video? SLR?
Thanks Sir. Have a Happy Easter too.....@@mrhoptoit7835
MHTI, you and your better half are just "FRUIT A HALICS" !!
YEP! Good news, strawberries are in season!! LOL
Just love the berries fella. I got a PORCUPINE, A. K. A. PINEAPPLES, 3 and they are literally all deep golden, they tasted like crystalized sugar. YUM YUM !! Peace ..
I just cut two pineapples up this morning!
Fella, these pineapples are the best tasting and nicest smell I have had in about a few years. This is really super food. PERIOD !! YUM YUM @@mrhoptoit7835
I have seen an antenna on line that is called the FF6. The large tena supposedly gives the best performance PERIOD !! That is what they say about this on line. I am wondering if you have heard of this type of unit MHTI ?? Since this FF6 is basically a UHF. I would use the Low VHF antenna you used in this video for a more rounded reception. Could you please tell me your thoughts on my idea fella ??? Thanks Mr. Hope To it and have a Happy Easter too. Peace v 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I don't like to comment on other DIY antennas, but I will say that bowtie antennas like this are basically good designs. They are more difficult to build than hoops, and their performance is very dependent on how well they are made. Thanks, VF. Happy Easter to you!
Thank you for your honest response. I will keep that in mind MHTI and decide which direction to go with. Have a Happy Easter to Sir. Peace v@@mrhoptoit7835
Hello Mr. Hop To It. Nice video for the low VHF signal. I live in the Philadelphia area. My channel 6 is known for really being a pain in the neck for reception. This should really help me with making the antenna Sir. Do you think if I double loop the antenna, the size would be in half, would this make the antenna a better reception unit Mr. Hop To IT ??? Also, would winding three copper wires, gauge 12 which you stated is best size, if my memory serves me well ?? Thank you for your help and job well done with this second video MHTI. Look forward to seen more great videos from you Sir. Good day and peace too. vf 😀😀😀😀😀😀
For a low band VHF antenna, I would not try modifying this into a double loop. I don't think it would help reception, but there's a better chance you would decrease it. For maximum gain, either use a one piece 8 or 10ga wire or twist three 14 or 12ga wires as a bundle. If your channels for the antenna are all in one direction. You could attach a reflector on the back side to help get max signal.
Now that is an idea Sir. I will try the reflector idea MHTI. @@mrhoptoit7835
Thank you for this
My pleasure!
Well done, keep the vids coming.
Thanks!
I have an idea MHTI. Would short wires protruding from the main reception element going around the perimeter, very similar to barb wire increase the signal strength ?? Just wondering.
Interesting. I have no idea what that would do. Thanks, VF
good info. thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your content, Have you done a comparison using the double hoop, with and without the reflector?
I initially did. Without the reflector it performed well and was able to receive signals from "front" and "rear", but I did not get the really far stations. Im currently working on another antenna video, so keep an eye out for it - hopefully within the next week or two.
I wonder how beneficial using copper tubing as the hoop would be. Maybe not enough performance for the price 🤔
I have an episode where I compare different element metals and gauges. Check it out here - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKGTlsebZ5vIp7Q.html. Thanks for watching!
Just a short note, I forgot to mention that I used household power wire 3mm twisted copper for my aerial.
Thanks for the details
