My name is Bryce Anderson, and I have collected coins for a while. I have always had a passion for artifacts, antiques, and history. Coins bring artifacts and history together through dates and age creating a "timeline". On this channel, I would like to use historic coins to recount history, while examining coin's composition, design, mintage, grading, past face value vs. inflated face value, and numismatic value. I hope you find my examination of these historic coins interesting while recounting historic periods in time. Thank you so much for your interest in my channel! Trivia question. Why is the Eagle so small on the reverse if the Franklin Half? Answer - Ben did NOT like the Eagle and thought the National Bird should be the Turkey. He finally agreed on the Eagle...but a much smaller version.
Interesting! Here is some more information from pcgs.com- “For my own part, I wish the bald eagle had not been chosen as the representative of our country,” Franklin decried, suggesting that the eagle was “a bird of bad moral character” and “does not get his living honestly” because the bird is known to steal food from other animals. Also apparently, to fulfill the legal requirement, half dollars must depict the figure of an eagle on the back of the coin. Thanks so much for your comment!
Thanks
Nice Franklin Half 😊

Yes!
I thought the inflation comparison was much higher than that during the 1850s.. For example, couldn't you buy a loaf of bread for a penny back then?
It definitely was a lot different, but according to an online inflation calculator that was the inflation value. Thanks for your comment!😀
WoW that's,91 years ago now! So long ago! So classic of a era!
Cass Elliot
What a classic! Wish I could have been around in those days. A much simpler time!
