Tech lacked a dynamic front court player last season. Toppin was/is desperately needed

As a graduate of Tech and a fan, I'm very happy Toppin chose to continue his collegiate career at Tech and think it will greatly enhance his value in the 2026 or beyond NBA Draft. Grant McCasland has impressed me so far and the Staff he has around him has done a great job of identifying talent not only at the high school level, but just as importantly in the transfer portal. As far as style of play goes, I remember several James Dickey "run and gun" teams, Bob Knight's methodical Triangle Offense, and the Defense oriented Beard and Adams teams. Personally, all I care about is for Tech to be the best at whatever style they choose or need to play to be successful!

Darrion Williams is also a building block for this team with two years of eligibility left. Excited to see what McCasland does with this roster. ❤️🖤

Not landing Ivisic is going to be fatal if they don’t hurry soon. The limited amount of ACC caliber or potentially ACC caliber starting 4/5 options are drying up so fast rn. And yet we really don’t know where they stand in that department…gotta find somebody. Otherwise it’ll almost be like being a man down vs most ACC starting lineups.

Oquendo at UGA was better than Harris. Maybe both start, or Oquendo doesnt figure it out, but Oquendo has more talent and could certainly start over Harris. - MB

However, Rob Lanier can’t scheme an offense that can score in the half court against an NAIA team in SAGU outside of free throws and second chance points, so maybe it doesn’t matter how talented the players are!

You guys kept saying A&M returns everybody but Dexter Dennis is now in the NBA with the Mavericks, a very big contributor they will have to replace. Looks like Carter can help there but it will still be sizable hole to fill.

The offense was predicated on Fardaws being THE GUY, and when he was hurt, and took forever for him to even play. 5 Freshmen and 3 sophomores were having to step up. Adams being chosen Coach in the first place caused McCullar, Shannon, Batcho and Santos-Silva to stay, then Mark went out and won all the tough recruiting battles, and recruited KObanor, Bryson Williams, Adonis Arms, and later won big recruiting battles for Fardaws, Pop, etc. Their best creator and player after the Sweet 16 Season, Jaylon Tyson, opted to come back to play for Mark Adams, had to sit out a whole year on the bench.......and I hear that one big Donor who will go nameless, didn't think Mark Adams was "sexy" enough, he was a West Texan with a drawl, was a Christian, was 64 (like me), and so, after Fardaws (the MAIN GUY) was out and Freshmen and Sophomores were FORCED to step up in a tough big 12....... Basically, Mark Adams was railroaded, with a Bible Verse being the ruse to get rid of him. If he was some "racist," then why did McCullar, Santos-Silva, Shannon, and all those guys who hugged Adams after Press Conferences---D'avion Harmon, Jaylon Tyson, etc.....bottom line, Adams got the Mike Leach/Rick Barnes treatment. When Big Donors want you gone, you're gone. No allegations make any sense based on players wanting to play for him, and come from other programs to play for him: KO, Bryson, Fardaws, etc. I hope McCasland does well. Seems like a nice man. Seems like a good Coach. But Mark Adams was the reason for the success Chris Beard had. Last year, they were a possession away on both KU games, BU games, TCU games, beat UT.......and won 6 of 7 I think, and were on a roll. . . .but the Big Donor Man wanted Adams gone, so he was gone. Sad. Love the Red Raiders. But Adams is NO racist. That was a ruse.

The BMD did not cause Mark to have an affair with his deceased twin brother's widow. He then divorced his wife, got married, and treated the basketball tournament in Maui like a honeymoon. He left practices in Maui to his assistants, and did not show up.

Is there a reason you guys didn't say anything about Ashton Smith, Ethan Henderson, or Javonte Brown on A&M? All of those guys look to play a lot and are all frontcourt players. Was than an oversight or do you honestly don't think they will contribute? I mean Ethan Henderson played quite a bit last year and Javonte Brown got more and more minutes in that late run at the end of last season. And he's 7' tall. The only true 5 on A&M's roster. Ashton Smith is 6'9" and 270lbs. Just weird you guys didn't mention any of them.

  • @DaveCampbellsTexasBasketball

Henderson averaged 2 points and 2.3 boards, Brown averaged 1.5 and 1.6, Smith redshirted. Not saying Marble lit it up at MSU, but I think there's a reason they brought him in. They're all going to have to prove it to me. - MB
