Hi. As a Lorex user, can you record from from the phone app and save to phone? Or do you need to pull saved video from actual NVR unit via a memory stick? I need to save recording easily but I know "older" Lorex systems you have to save from main unit. Hoping they've updated tech to save/share from phone app. Thanks in advance!

I have the Lorex 400 series 16 ch cameras with 12 cameras installed. 8 of the cameras are Lorex dome PTZ cameras, 3 Lorex bullet cameras and one Dahua fisheye ONVIF protocol rated camera. I have my NVR since 2020 and gradually upgraded cameras through 2022. I am overall pleased with the purchase though not without its challenges. 1) the non-Lorex Onvif fish eye camera required configuration to work with Lorex NVR. Yes, it is doable and non Lorex cameras as long as ONVIF compliant works with the NVR. However for any power interruptions, it kicks it offline though it is a quick switching back to Camera to ONVIF setting from the NVR. The only reason I pick up a fish eye is to cover 360 deg on my 2nd floor without having to invest in 2 cameras. 2) the HDMI port got damaged because my NVR is placed in an area where the cable is curved at an angle because of the tight space. I tried to replace it but the HDMI itself is Lorex proprietary and not available to purchase. Soldering is out of the question because the pins that connect to the board snapped. My fix is using a VGA to HDMI adapter to hook the NVR to my TV. Also I highly recommend to plug your NVR to a good power surge and UPS to protect from power surge. Learned this when a power surge fried the power supply of the NVR. Quick fix but a hassle. I used APC UPS 650 VA. Down the line, I’d probably upgrade to the Lorex Fussion to allow wireless Lorex cameras to be saved in the drive.

After you did the camera registration, do you see two doorbell applications in the app? One for the initial setup and one connected to the NVR? I tried connecting directly to the NVR during the initial setup but it wouldn’t give me the option for mechanical chime. Not sure why. I had to do a setup not connected to the NVR in order to select mechanical chime and then perform the NVR registration but I see the doorbell twice in my app.

Thanks! Covered many things I'd struggled with over the past month or so before I figured them out on my own. YOu explained those really well. One thing that I asked Lorex about is how to not showing unused channels. I have an 8 analog/4 IP Fusion DVR which replaced a 4 camera no-longer-supported-by-the-manufacturer analog (BNC) system. The Lorex DVR uses channels 1-4 for the analog cameras and I added 4 IP cameras, but they use channels 9-12. Unfortunately, on the main HDMI display, it shows the first 4 (BNC) channels, then 4 blank channels (5-9) and then the 4 IP channels (9-12). I'd like it to show only the 8 in-use channels and not the unused channels. Doable?

I bought a 4K 8 channel NVR system from Costco & 2 4K “wireless” cameras & a wireless 2K door bell direct from Lorex. The 4K “wifi” cameras aren’t exactly wireless & require a USB cable & power supply - OK, while I can’t do Cat 5e from the 2 4K “wifi” cameras to NVR, but I can do the USB cable to a plug, but the cable is too short, so I’ll need an extension USB cable. Maybe I can use some of the extra length of cable I don’t need from the other 4K “wifi” camera. Surprisingly, all you need for the 4K “wifi” cameras is the Lorex Home app on your smartphone. I found the setup instructions lacking. The wired cameras want a password when I connect to NVR & it’s not “admin”, but If I remove the cover on the camera & press the reset button, it will then connect. When it asks about adding to POE, just cancel or you’ll be asked for a password again. Another issue is that the “smart sensor” functionality can’t be narrowed with the functionality that limits the sensor areas. If it’s activated, I get notifications all the time when cars & persons pass by on the street, regardless of adjusting the sensor area. Lastly, only one person can be logged into the app at one time. Would I buy it again? In spite of the complexity, better than my Q-See system at my office. Now that I’m familiar with it, I’d probably buy it again.

Probably the most informative point you should have brought to the attention of your viewers is 30 FPS (frames per second) vs the blurry 15 frames per second 4K systems >> junk systems being pawned off on the unsuspecting consumer. You can have all the 4K you want but "movement blur" reduces the footage to cheap dime store surveillance videos, worth nothing. 60 FPS would be twice that of 30 FPS giving added clarity per frame. I would have mentioned that in this review, to warn your viewer/buyers from purchasing 15 FPS systems, pushing Lorex into recognizing the necessity of... higher end 60 FPS systems. In my neighborhood, we are not only fighting the criminals but the cops who act ignorant to Felony Vandals claiming the video is not clear enough! In our videos we prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that the cops are RICO racketeering agents, allowing the criminals to get away >> stalking and harassing our information against their unlawful activity. Otherwise, it was a good video.
