The Dad Bod

The Dad Bod

After watching hundreds of style videos all across KZread I realized something. Most are geared towards the slender or fit man. But not everyone falls into that category.
So I created The Dad Bod to have a place where everyone can come to elevate their style. I am working on reviewing online companies for their off the rack and made to measure clothing, subscription boxes to help you try out new products that you may love, and even style tips to help us all look our best! So make sure you subscribe to my channel and have your notifications on because I'll be uploading videos a few times a week as much as I can.

I just came across your vids and I especially appreciated your take on Suit Supply. I was contemplating getting a suit from them for my son’s wedding as he got his suit there. He’s 6’1” 180 lbs and his suit looked spectacular. I’m 5’8” and 170 so they were not for me. However, this comment is not for Suit Supply. As a guy who was once was 265 lbs I can relate to your fit issues. One day I looked in the mirror and decided enough was enough. I decided to do something about my weight. Long story short I lost 100 lbs. Not easy but I did it. I now can shop for a suit anywhere and it’ll fit almost perfectly. My advice to you is if you want a well fitting suit lose that excess weight you’re carrying around. Not only will the suits look better but you’ll add years to your life.

According to the Tailor I had, Indochino's algorithm is janky and the suit will come out better if the algorithm doesn't think your body can exist. At that point the Tailor is able to submit their own measurements to be used cause you obviously do exist and the suits tend to come out better.

My mom got my kids some new clothes. Sure enough one of the items still had the security tag. I don’t even have the receipt for it since she bought it and I didn’t realize it still had the tag till a week or so later when I was removing the price tags and getting all the clothes ready to wash before my kids could wear them. Glad I found this video

You and I have the same problem - we're not very young, slim, and nor are we ignorant of how trousers are supposed to fit. I looked at the Suit Supply website and knew as soon as I did that nothing they had to offer would fit me, because - like a lot of online tailors AND outfitters these days, they cut the trousers to sit on the hips: without exception; they know nothing about waists, and they also know nothing about traditional tailoring. They work on the basis of an assumption: that being that their customers are likely to in the 26 to just on 40 age range, with no experience of good tailoring, who will accept the cut offered because they know no better. In consequence, you see lots of younger men waddling around in garments that don't fit them, running a considerable risk of immediate emasculation if they sit down suddenly. It's fashion that has done this - youth-based, ignorant, incompetent fashion has bred a generation of tailors and cutters who can't tailor or cut to save their lives. Maybe this is what the younger generation wants.... I think it's more that they're leery of dressing like their fathers and grandfathers: but as a business model, I doubt that there's a longer term future in it, because these young men will get older, find that they can't squeeze their wedding equipment comfortably into trousers like these, feel the need for movement in the arms and shoulders, can't get it and will demand better from an industry whose skill levels have so declined that only the very best and very expensive tailors can make comfortable or appropriate clothing; and that's just a penance on all of us older men who just want a suit that looks good but doesn't throttle our essential organs. Fight them, Dad Bod, make them see how bad their cuts are, or they'll carry on churning out the same rubbish until bankruptcy hits them: as frankly, they deserve.

I'm thinking about going with a standard size and then having a tailor adjust to fit me. Sure, it defeats the purpose of having a made to measure suit, but i look at it as having a "custom designed" suit, and then having a tailor work their magic in person to work with all the nuances of my body

So I ordered online and got that tag with one of the jackets. If I have to go to the shop again it defeats the entire purpose of online shopping.

lol I just tried this trick and it really worked, I was going away and my tag was still on, since I was in a different state I really needed the outfit so I looked how to remove the tags and it didn’t take long after all. The pin didn’t even separate the whole tag came out thank you

True Classics suck, I have pilling under the arms after a single wearing, the light gray shirt looks like it has been bleached after one washing and the return policy is a joke, unworn, unwashed, in OG packaging and you pay the shipping. I have same sizing selected but depending on the shirt they fit differently- just say no to their stupid scammy clothes.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MySuitTailor Based on this review and the other budget suit video on this page, I bought my first suit with this company. I am a graduate student with limited money and needed a suit for my summer internship. It took more than two months for my suit to arrive. I was originally sent the wrong product. I have never put on a pair of pants this uncomfortable. The jacket had a strange fit, bubbling out under the arms in the back. They emailed me to confirm some details after my purchase. They had a few details incorrect, so I told them the correct details. When receiving the suit, I could see they did not make the corrections. An example is my I initials inside the jacket. They also emailed me about some measurements they thought were wrong. So I remeasured and compared the measurements with other clothes I have. They did not listen and still made the suit with the measurements they believed were correct. For example, I have short arms for my height, so I wanted the sleeves a little shorter than the recommendation for my height. After receiving my suit, I emailed about the problems and sent them various pictures. They told me they could reimburse me for alternations up to $50. I went to get alterations. The cost of fixing all the problems was well over $50 dollars. After receiving a single alteration, I have emailed them two or three times now with no response over the last month. Now I am stuck with a suit I absolutely dread putting on. By the way I probably have one of the most basic body types, so that was not the issue.

I wish i had seen this video before i bought my pair. I bought a pair of "Gatsby" shoes from Amazon because they were cheaper. I understand why now. I figured it was just a knock off and bought from the actual website. Now I'm waiting on the new pair to arrive but going based off of this review I have a bad feeling. They also are trying hard to get me to affiliate market the shoe 😂 idk if i could stand behind this if they are just as bad.

thank you for saving me from wasting time and money, is there a company you would recommend for business/business casual attire, I’m 6’2 235ish and definitely need tall size shirts and potential 12.5/13 dress shoes depending on the brand.

did not work for me. The plastic circle kept growing in diameter rather than height to push the pin out. Plastic loops made a disc and out of the gap.

I'm not sure whether the issue is the fused canvas or my local dry cleaner but I have only had my Pronto Uomo for about 4 months and the exterior fabric is already starting to separate from the fused canvas...I definitely am going to stick to only floating canvas suits from now on after this experience. Also I have noticed a few places where the seam has a loose thread. It definitely looks and feels like a cheap suit :/

A way faster way to do it is to use a multi tool all the way around the seam. Then use a flathead screwdriver to pop it open. Took about 30-45 seconds

Didnt work for me, wrapped it like 30+ times and now there's a hole in the garment cus they put the tag right on a seam. Thanks! If you have a relatively strong magnet just touch it to the the big side and the needle releases effortless. Or take it to any nearby clothing store with your receipt and they'll take it off for you.
