Ekufilm is a tiny indie film production company from Estonia, founded and run by Ekebert Esken.
Our goal is to create original films with emotional and truly meaningful stories. We strive to create our films of the same quality as what you would see in the cinema - we just do it with cheap gear, just a few people and very little budget! It is both challenging, yet refreshing, as we want to prove that you can create just as powerful and thought-provoking films with minimal people, gear and budget.

I would recommend trying to not take so long static shots. For example - when they are having the conversation on bed. It feels very drawn out and becomes very dull. Nice short film though, good luck in future! :)
Thank you! Yeah, I see what you mean. Just for context - the couch scene we also filmed close ups of however on the girl's angle there was a light on so we couldn't use them for continuity errors but I found that the scene worked powerfully with just the wide angle and unnerving music. Cutting to the close ups made it more fake with those particular performances however I found that using only the wide angle made it the most real and authentic, which is what I was ultimately always going for in the film. The bedroom scene we deliberately only filmed with one single shot. I had planned that earlier already, since the bedroom also was very tight and little space to work with the equipment. However it ended up being a long scene so yeah, could have used close ups and editing. But at the end of the day the story didn't quite turn out as I had imagined it to be... I was relying a lot on the story itself to be as interesting and meaningful as possible so that even those long single shots would be engaging. But I just failed somewhat with the story, will do better next time!
I do agree with being authentic. I think in this rush world we need long shots, it feels more realistic. If you look European movies they usually have these kind of emotions and long shots to give the feeling of it. Also, as estonians I really hope that the actors start to be real instead of acting. I feel like watching it made me feel something. Usually watching estonian movies I do not. So this is special :)
@@taevanelill Oo aitäh! (thank you). I think the realism came mostly from me (director) giving the actors a lot of chance to improvise, and we actually improvised quite a bit of the film on the spot, so it felt more natural. If you read the script for the film while watching the film, you will realize how much is different from the original script, not only in dialogue but also camera shots and so on. But it came out natural!
