Motorbike related videos mainly, I try and post when I'm modifying my bike or to give a review of a bike I've tried or new piece of kit I've bought..especially if I can't find a video covering the topic!

Thanks for the video. What a pain in the a…. I was trying hard and carful but still like you broke one of the „connectors“. They made it really hard to take it apart….same goes for the front part with the windshield and the „nose“. 😅🤦🏻♂️
Sorry I didn’t manage to help you avoid breaking a clip! Hopefully yours is like mine and it’s invisible that it’s broken once back together. Haven’t tried removing the nose cone yet…..something to look forward too! 😬😬😬
do i have do slide the fairing to the front of the bike or to the back?
If you are holding the fairing you move it towards the front of the bike….it is very stiff and fragile so be careful ! It maybe if you loosened the front fairing around the screen/headlight it might be a bit easier but I haven’t yet tried to see if it’s possible.
Build quality of your video is a bit suspect, why did you film in portrait when all computer and all TVs are in landscape and you can hold a mobile sideways for landscape? Just bought a new G310R and sold my R1250RS as I don't see myself doing any big tours anymore. The wife will be doing the same and getting rid of her S1000XR. The 319R is a fun little machine, had it 2 days and have put 150 running in miles on it so far, most impressed.
Re the aspect ratio of this video, its because I shoot the "5 reasons to buy/not to buy" videos primarily to make into shorts and shorts have to be filmed in portrait as they are meant to be viewed on phones. The shorts also can only be 1 minute long so they are heavily editied down. Rather than waste the extra material, I used the full material to make a longer version as a "normal" video....but by that point I was stuck with the portrait content (I don't have a way to shoot with a safe area so I can produce both at the same time) I agree its not the best look and on my more recent videos I've switched to generally doing it as a landscape seperate piece of filming for the longer reviews. As to the the G310R, I don't think anyone would be wrong to buy one if it suits thier needs, I found it great fun to ride and put about 200 miles on it it the day I had it......and for the use you have it sounds like a good choice.
Interesting video - the 5 pluses i agree with, from the 5 negatives the screen is the only one that really matters the others are nitpicks that don't bother me...and oddly enough at 6ft the std screen doesn't give me any issues on my RS..it seems to annoy taller or short riders...subjective I guess. Out of the 8 or so BMs i have owned over the years this one is the best all round package ...just progressive development showing i guess. It is smooth, powerful when needed, quiet and fast ...and has the best gearbox so far....but my 1200R seems to have a better gearbox...it is silent into 1st gear, the RS only sometimes is. Probably oil type and weight perhaps ?
I do mostly agree with what you say, it’s one of the hardest bikes I reviewed to find negatives about and it is to an extent nitpicking, none would stop me buying the bike.
So, to buy or not to buy? Personally, I think it's a nice-looking bike, decent quality, and does enough for a 300. I think the GS310 edges it for me, though - the big question is, servicing costs - reasonable or not, given its a BMW?
Problem is you will be paying BMW labour rates so it’s bound to be relatively costly. Personally I think it’s kind of a half BMW (not in size, but quality cache etc) so not convinced it’s worth BMWs pricing
Its a bike for real riders. I mean people who ride everywhere, everyday in all seasons and all weathers. Its not for the nice weather only, weekender, coffee shop leather jacket matching helmet horsepower/penis size brigade.
Couldn’t agree with you more 😀
Very good touring bike if they had put a good seat on it . But they didn't 🦧
I did loads of touring on my 2016 & 2019 750x with an upgraded seat and thought it was great for touring, but I think the post 2021 bikes suspension is too harsh for touring. In trying to make the bike more sporty, they have taken away a little too much comfort for me.
I just purchased a "cool cover" for mine and found it quite helpful.
Sounds a good idea.
I prefer the 310GS and considering one for my daily commute and a bit of weekend fun - it has more road presence too
Haven’t had the opportunity to ride one yet, but it’s definitely an interesting option.
Normal clutch works fine and shifts more than fast enough. Auto gearboxes belong on scooters only. But more importantly how safe is it to do wheelies and burnouts with those gearboxes because i trust my hand way more as its under my control. Just seems like a gimmick.
It’s a normal manual when you want it to be, has a normal clutch system etc, it’s just an addition to a normal manual bike so should make no difference to wheelies or burnouts if that’s your type of thing. As to speed of gear changing…why do pretty much all race bikes use quick shifters if a standard manual is quick enough? There’s a contradiction in your argument here, you argue pro wheelie,& burnouts but anti speed of shifting on acceleration which is kind of pro laddish behaviour on one hand but against it on the other. Regarding autos on anything other than scooters, I’ve done 10s of thousands of miles in London traffic and a powerful bike without constantly needing to use a clutch is a godsend…it’s all horses for courses….hard statements like autos only belong on scooters don’t deal with the massive variety of uses and preferences of riders, if they did both BMW and Yamaha wouldn’t be following Honda’s lead of preparing to offer Autos on big bikes.
@@whojamaflip7997 for racing a quick shifter makes sense. I don't wheelie like a hooligan in the street. I wheelie on closed off roads at low speed so clutch control is very essential. I suppose in heavy traffic in London that would make sense for something to be more auto. But I still believe autos belong on scooters that's just what I think.
35 mpg....wow you must be caning it, unless its the dct, over 4 seasons 23,000 miles im around 44 mpg, and i dont Pootle much. Cheers
It is a DCT, but not excessively ragging it! In discussion with various owners of manual version it looks like the DCT makes the engine less efficient as it causes it to run lower in the rev range, so more laboured
Btw, watched loads of your videos over the last year or so and got a whole load of good tips off you…..thanks matey 😀
@@whojamaflip7997 That's really appreciated thank you 😊😁😁, you've a great bike their.
@@whojamaflip7997 yes although I really fancy a dct, I'm aware it's best in sports mode for the reasons you mention.
Really like the DCT, but it’s much smoother in normal than sport for day to day driving….so you kind of can’t win….that’s just me though, lots prefer it in sport mode!
I love that colour scheme 👍👍
😀
I have the manual one for more than 5 years, great bike, will never sell it, some riders maybe too fussy
I do a 5 reason to buy video as well, the idea of theses videos isn’t to suggest you shouldn’t buy the bike, just perhaps to help people consider the ups/down. Personally I had mine for 12000 miles and just over a year, but found it a little too heavy for me when trying to squeeze through London Traffic….Think it’s a brilliant bike for most everything but the very heavy filtering I have to do.
Jump cut for literally every point you read 😂
Thanks for you critique, I’ll have a look at your content so I can get some tips……oh wait, you have none 😂😂😂
The gs is a lot of fun and very versatile. Great bike.
I certainly enjoyed my time with it.
Just ordered one to sit with the 1250RS and the S1000XR. Spent 3 hours on the test G310R today and find it perfect for the country roads around here. Lot of time spent talking about the price and the fact that you can get a more powerful bike for less money. I have more powerful bikes, 136 and 165 bhp, but 34 is fine for the little one. Who cares about money in this price bracket anyway?
Think it will be a great addition to your garage, I really enjoyed my time with the bike and it sounds like you have the perfect use for it…..just wouldn’t want to have it as my only bike.
No1 reason is the buffering…other than that it’s a great bike.
Have you tried the connected app? 🤣 Overall I do agree with you that it’s a great bike, I just think at £17.5K with luggage and a decent kit level, there shouldn’t be niggles.
great detailed instructions thanks, I am also interested in a link to the front and rear camera system you have if you are able to share the link. Thanks
thanks for making this video, any import or customs charges you paid? cheers
Nope they were sent from within the uk so nothing like that. On my purchase it was definitely stock they had on the UK and I assume they had already paid the import duty.
Thanks dude, you helped make a decision. Just saw one passing by, nice looking, but I remembered some of these niggles. Poor by Honda ‘s standards. Ride hard, ride safe.
Kind of sad to have put you off because I love mine….but it’s better to make an informed decision not to buy something than buy it, find out about the niggles and regret it later.
That doesn't look like it meets the size requirements of 180mm x 133mm. Can you confirm please
The 180 x 130 size is for car UK stickers rather than motorcycles. The uk badge shown is a motorcycle one at 80 x 50. However, apart from the packaging stating this is the legal side for a motorcycle uk sticker, it’s very difficult to actually find an official page that details the correct size for a motorcycle, they all only talk about cars!
@whojamaflip7997 yes its the problem ive found. Nowhere does it state an official size for a Motorcycle sticker. Tbh its a complete nonsense but there it is
It’s a good bike I enjoy it better than any Honda models. I take trips cross country on great gas mileage. Don’t understand this video.
There’s a sister short which talks about the good points. I agree with that it’s a great bike, but it also divides opinion and this short is there to give that opinion. The bike is that different in character to most bike that a lot of people actively dislike it.
This has been really helpful. I’ve been installing the 3p rack and Shad panniers in the garage today on my 23 NC and been using this as a guide as the kit instructions are not the best. Cheers
Glad you found it useful 👍
the 1. reason is bullshit: my bike burns 4,5 lt per 100 km, so the range ist nearly 400 km and thats enough for a tourer...
We got the figures quoted over a >3000km tour with the bike being ridden very gently but loaded for touring. On the same trip the other bike we took (an R1200RT) is heavier, carried a heavier rider and more luggage, yet returned 8% better economy. Which to me suggests a backward step in design. The 370 km range I was quoting is a realistic range, after all you are not going to run your tank dry. Also the main point is there is the room on the bike to easily have a bigger tank, so why not do it? If you are happy with the range, no problem, the video isn’t a saying you must not buy the bike, it’s giving things which you could consider reasons not to buy it….every bike has its faults, the question is do those issues matter to you.
I'm on my 2nd NC750X, both manuals as I wanted the 10kg weight saving and full automony over gear changes. Its a quite brilliant motorcycle, genius engine and gets a right move on once you get used to how the engine delivers its more than adequate torque (ignore the bhp figure)
Agree with you completely about the engine and the overall brilliance of design.
One thing I didn’t hear you say but I think is very important; this bike, (to me) is very comfortable and has a very accessible seat height. Otherwise thank you for the quick review. I have rented this bike for a day (the DCT version) and I am absolutely sold on it. Never thought I’d like an automatic transmission motorcycle that much.
I’ve ridden multiple DCT bikes and love the gearboxes. I’ve now covered over 55000 miles across 4 different DCT bike! I’m sure you’ll love it if you get one. Re the seat, it’s something that divides opinion. My other half had a post 21 NC and found the seat uncomfortable, but when I rode it and rode the one I used for the review I got on really well with it, plus online comments appear to reflect this divide in opinion. Seat higher is good though you are right, I’m 5’9” and can flat foot easily. You are also right that I should have commented on seat height and feel in the video! Afraid I’m only an amateur and still learning 😀 Really appreciate the feedback, thanks for taking the time to comment.
My only bug bear is the absolute awful bolt, screw whatever they are that hold the battery cover….I had a mixture and caused me huge issues…absolute pig to take off…I have now attached Velcro to the cover and inside the frunk……works for me now…I have the DCT version….a joy to ride…got some goodies too…I bought my bike with my head and heart though, returning to riding after 43 years…nasty crash on my LC250 hit by a drunk driver…I ended up rather broken….hence why I ride a DCT, my wrists are weak…..as I say I love my bike, it ticks all the boxes, of course we all have a wish list of extras, but this adds to the cost….so yeah….a brilliant bike…never going to change it………..unless a shaft drive version comes along hehe…
@karlhoward2737 couldn’t agree more about the battery cover, I lost the fastenings a couple of times and kept spares as a result.
Loving mine. The only issue i have is the seat after say 100 miles. I have had it padded out which has helped but Honda should sort this out as for me it is the only weak point. I must add that other NC750X owners I have talked to do not have this issue,so might just be my boney butt lol.
Had the same issue with ours…didn’t find a solution :(
What warranty do you have? If a fault develops would Apple repair it or the seller? I assume both iPads update the same no different to UK models and can be registered with Apple? Serial numbers reveal info to Apple? BTW, thank you for uploading your useful video👍🏻
The iPads work just as any other, updates via apple normally and as far as I remember normal Apple 1 year warranty (I did check at the time I bought them, but have forgotten since!) They are exactly the same as one bought in the UK except for the plug. My iTunes account recognises them as normal when I look on my list of devices. I assume the serial numbers would show the model as not being directly purchased in the uk though (if apple track that) so I guess if the warranty is better on the uk than their country of origin you’d only get the lower of the two.
@@whojamaflip7997 Thank you for your reply. That's very helpful 👍🏻
I have the 1200 x Dct crosstourer and it’s superb. Built like granite. Enough electronics for safety ie ABS/TC . Will never sell it . I had the manual model then changed to Dct
I’m very tempted to get an X, the only thing that puts me off is I find my F a little top heavy and have read the X is even more so..and as I’m only 5’8” , that’s a bit worrying!
@@whojamaflip7997 You can get a lower seat for the X . The weight is not an issue once you move.. It also has more low down torque than the F. Try one you will be surprised.
@TheZanshen I use the F for commuting to central London so do a lot of very low speed work, I also have a bike for touring and was thinking if an X for that but went for a R1200RT BMW for that do I had a completely different type of bike…though I do miss the DCT when on the BMW.
I've not even got TC, i have a 2021 dct. If you want to improve handling throw the rear shock in the bin and fit maxton. Tyres make a big difference, ive had angel gt2 and im now on t32 GT. The T32's feel more agile straight away but the angels were still good
Are you in the US, in the UK I’m sure all bikes come with TC. : Edit, did you mean 2012 DCT…if it was a last one before the minor changes it wouldn’t have TC in the UK either.
Sorry typo on my part mines a UK 2011. Tc was introduced in 2012, mines flashed and I don't seem to miss having TC
To be honest’ I’ve never found the TC particularly good, its gone off occasionally on mine but only when I’ve been accelerating and hit a manhole cover, nothing which would have caused a real issue
Hate those fron indicators there on like every bike though
It’s definitely a widely used part across the BMW range, the G310R I recently tested had the same indicators for example. It’s also not solely a BMW thing to have indicators with the fixings showing. However a lot of manufacturers hide the fixings or incorporate the indicator better. As an example my Honda VFR1200F has them as part of the wing mirrors and use the same mirrors on a number of models to cut costs. I just think on a bike at this be price point, those indicators look poor. That said I am really picking fault with the bike aa it is a very good bike.
Actually, the Honda has 670cc so it practically runs like a scooter
Depends on the country, in the US you got the 670 from the NC700 range, in the UK we got the 749 from the NC750 upgrades…..a very rare example of the UK getting a bigger engine than the US! (Not that it makes that much difference to power!)
@@whojamaflip7997 id say the disadvantages is that the bike doesn’t have a clutch lever. But as someone who’s used to riding an Ebike. It’s sorta an advantage. But in the US. A motorcycle with a 600cc engine is really good for beginners.
@-wack personally I have had 4 bikes with the DCT gearbox and love it, but it’s a real love it or loathe it feature on any bike.
@@whojamaflip7997 well she is my first bike. But I already love her because she’s so different and she feels like a scooter more than a motorcycle.
I’m seriously jealous :)
I think I disagree. My last 3 bikes had 17 liter tanks and got way less then 65mpg. So I think 18 litters at 65mpg is fair. They have things called gas stations anyway, that you can fill your tank at. The rest of the points are pretty meh if you ask me.
I would completely agree with you, except that (in the uk at least) the bike is £17.5k (as shown) whereas similar competitors start from around £12.5k, for me if you are paying that kind of premium you can be picky ! That said, I do think it’s one of the best bikes around and the number of negative points is a lot lower than most other bikes I have ridden.
So i should go for it?
As in use them? I had no problems and got exactly what I ordered…but then there are a fair few unhappy reviewers. I think as long as you order using a credit card (if in the uk) then at least if it goes wrong you have a chance of getting your money back
Okayyy, Yes im in the UK
I bought it with my heart, not my head 😂
Good on you, It’s one of my favourite bikes too 😀
You forgotten the most important feature!!!!! The Dual Clutch Transmission!!!!!
I know what you mean. I personally love the DCT version, and debated about including it, but it’s such a love it or hate it thing I thought it was wrong to include it on this video.
@@whojamaflip7997 Well In my view thats the outstanding feature, if one doesnt like it look for other motorcycle. At the end of the day Honda has many bikes with the features you highlighted but the extra tank space. If a blond tall girl is what one likes is because she is tall and blond...while others dislike blonds and or tall ones is irrelevant.
In that case you are arguing that Honda made two motorbikes; the manual and the DCT version. The problem with that then is you have the manual version which is a not so cheap commuter/all rounder, or you have the DCT version which is near unique…but pretty expensive.
What about ninja H2r😈😈😎😎 👇
It’s a lovely bike…but I’m of an age where it aches if I ride a sports bike for too long 😂😂😂
Totally agree, got one, DCT Model, love it
I think it works better as a bike with the dct….now if it was dct & shaft drive it would be near perfect!
@@whojamaflip7997 Agree with that, but another 20hp would be jun too
@flexywing take your point there, though I wouldn’t want to loose the low down torque and lazy nature of the engine in the process….maybe an NC850x is needed?
@@whojamaflip7997 Sounds good, But just had a test ride on the new Africa Twin Adventure Sport DCT, wow great bike, but £17600, and still no centre stand!
@flexywing unless you really want an adventure bike, try the NT1100, I’ve had an AT and borrowed a NT for the day from the dealer….unless you want to go off road I think the NT is much better plus a lot cheaper. Also the DCT box on both is amazing too.
Thanx4post
And to you for your comments.
As to 3 of the 'not' 5: the perfect gearbox is audible, we live for function over aesthetic. Only egoists care about visuals. No need for a tv on a bike. The front forks are a part of the best touring system in the world. Go ride ANYTHING ELSE for 10,000 miles and redo your review.

If you are commuting 22 thousand mile a year into central London cost size and fuel economy become very important, the NC750X beats pretty much every other bike as a commuter bike if cost is an issue. At the moment though I commute into central London once a week, the RT is too wide to easily filtre through traffic, the VFR cuts through it like a knife through butter. So is better for that purpose, the RT however is much better as a tourer. I’ve has both a BMW F800GS and a triumph tiger 800, the Tiger was by far the better bike Lastly if you look at most data on reliability, BMW are trounced by Japanese bikes. I’m not saying BMWs are bad bikes, but neither are they universally the best. Bike are all about what suits your specific requirements and size shape etc. Every bike has advantages and disadvantages as does every bike brand. It’s plain ridiculous to state one brand is better than all others full stop.
Nobody buying it don’t worry
In the UK it’s the highest selling 500-750 cc bike, it sells circa 6000 units a year which about a third of total bike sales in this category across ALL manufacturers. Excluding Scooters it’s one of the best selling bikes in the UK as it is in most of the western world.
It’s a worthy bike on maintenance, cost and fuel
There’s a sister short to this called 5 reasons to buy, and I make many of those points in that one.
yea on point

3.5l/ 100 km very carefully - normal drive 3,8-4.0 / 100km - anyway a fantastic bike -
Unfortunately, as I’m English and of a certain age, I’m only able to understand Miles per imperial gallon (Even though I buy my petrol in Litres!) (Google has shown me that’s a pretty good mpg 😀 I gather those that get more are seriously obsessed and probably sacrifice safety for fuel efficiency)
Ugly ugly bike .
Well I have just bought a nc750s which is 6 years old and has 4000 miles on but it came with the full original honda luggage and the honda heated grips so for £3800 or £2800 after trade in I think it's a cracking deal 😊
Does sound good, never ridden the S and would be interested in how the more road focused suspension is on that..the suspension is the biggest problem for me on the latest X but was fine on pre 2021 bikes.
Totally agree a shaft drive would put this bike in a class of its own
Or a belt drive….but a chain 🙄
Even a belt drive would work…..but a chain 🙄
Yup, shaft drive would be great.
@@motardsquid Would compromise ride quality though
I don’t follow why you say that? The extra weight or the potentially more agricultural feel? I have a Honda vfr1200r and a bmw r1200rt, (though both a lot more expensive bikes when new) I don’t have issues with either of those. Plus I have ridden both a 650 & 700 deauville and not noticed ride quality issues there and they were a similarly marketed bike to the NC……the deauvilles were a bit clunky changing gears, but super comfortable. Not having a go at you, or saying you are wrong, just intrigued why you think that it would impact ride quality.
I traded in my Honda Rebel 1100 for this bike mostly due to my height. I looked like a clown on the Rebel! It took a while to get used to the lack of power compared to the Rebel, but since I use my bike for commuting and running errands on the weekends, I'm satisfied with the trade!
I went from an NC to a Africa Twin then back again, I know what you mean about the power difference but I also found the NC more flickable
Give it a shaft drive, and it'll be the Honda CX500/650 , or Honda Deauville 700 for the 21st century !
Couldn’t agree more, a shaft drive would make this an unbeatable bike for so many people…even a belt drive would be better, don’t get why Honda opted for a chain!
I’ll give seat 4/10 on comfort. The mid controls add to the monkey butt

No mid controls on this bike. Monkey butt is your mother's fault: HYGIENE MATTERS, she failed you
