Love seeing other people’s stories! I have LQTS and everyone on my family who has been tested has the same (previously unknown variant). I’ve got a loop recorder too, and I know the frustrations! My second one is so much better than my first, but it is now dead too! I’m so in awe how you handle flights. My Beta blockers make me very light headed when taking off!

Hi there. I used to be like you since I used to have no fear of flying. But that all changed when I was on a flight that crashed. I survived that crash, but it left me with a fear of flying. Have you ever felt scared during a flight? And do you know anyone who is like me?

Wow that is a pretty scary story, im sorry you had to experience something like that! For turbulence I’ve never been afraid of flying. If I ever get “nervous” I would say it has more to do with when I’m in the aisle with the heavy cart out. I would hate to have unexpected severe turbulence with that situation

What major or regional airlines bases in the midwest? I live in Kansas City, and the cost of living is good here.

  • @TheDailyDeparture

United and American have Chicago. United had Cleveland but I believe it’s senior and delta has Minneapolis and Detroit for closest… for regional many have browse same bases if they do contracted flying for a major and republic had Indianapolis at one point, but if they still have it that’s another option

To be precise, here are the actual definitions. Some airlines fit multiple categories. Regional: Operates in a smaller geographical region. Typically operates under the umbrella of a major airline. (ie: Skywest, Mesa) Major: Airline with more than 1 billion dollars annual revenue. (ie: United, Southwest, American, Frontier) Mainline: a major airline that operates subsidiary or contracted regional carriers under its umbrella. (ie: United, American, Delta) Legacy: An airline with interstate routes established prior to the airline deregulation act in 1978. (ie: United, American, Delta)

Thanks for those! Cool how many definitions there are and how it all breaks down. My intention for the video is more of less to educate those unfamiliar with the industry how there is different quality of life/ routes / pay for different airlines! When I started I had no clue there were so many categories and types of airlines 😂

Facebook has groups for prospective Flight Attendants for each airline. You must have the legal right to work in the U.S. as no U.S. airline will sponsor you.

Love your channel. I'm a former FA(not AA). I first flew 20 years ago so I'm a lot older now. In your opinion, is having previous flight attendant experience a plus? What about coming back at an older age(50 plus). Is that going to be a negative to getting hired? Also, I live in Chicago so I would want to be based at ORD. How easy is it to get Chicago out of training? Thanks!

Retired American Airlines Flight Attendant who worked 34 years and retired in October 2013. It is very brave of you to tackle two of the most challenging things to learn and understand. It takes about five years to fully understand: 1. How to bid so that you have a chance of a normal life. 2. How we are paid. I was a recruiter and instructor for some periods during my career. I remember students always wanted to know how to bid. Yes, we did teach the very basics. As for pay, I can tell you only the basics. I do not know about your airlines, but we have three formulas that were "checked" at the end of each trip. The one that paid the most was what we received. As far as bidding for schedules, I will say this. It sure was nice to accrue seniority. When I retired, I was number 10 at a base of 3500. It was easy. I always told people not to fantasy bid. Some of the more junior people would study and bid 200 hundred lines; unless 2000 others forgot to bid, there would be no chance. Do not "fantasy" bid. But keep trying. I suppose you have to pretend you are on a television game show that you have a chance to phone a friend. Have fun. Stephen✈🛩🛫🛬

Most airlines allow you to fly as many hours as you want. But legally, you must have 24 hours rest within a 7 day period.

My friend in Rodgers Park Chicago, owns a HUGE 2b 2bath and wants a flight attendant roommate. My mom was a United FA gor 52 years- she recently retired or I would have her put the word out in the crew lounge…. Any one need a roommate? My friend is a PhD published professor and a wonderfully polite, brilliant, liberal single female. Lmk!

I’ve had this since birth. Was constantly fainting as a kid. Was diagnosed as epilepsy. Only was diagnosed correctly in 2018 when I fainted on a flight and ended up in a cardiac ward. I need an implant. I’m constantly nervous about raising my heart rate and dying.

Govt say av salary 34k more like the 21 to 23k before tax..laughable..😢❤ What are comparable rent costs in Chicago please. Love Pulp Fiction ..

But, you are, essentially, paid for those other hours as your hourly pay reflects the "down" time. Normally, a flight attendant wouldn't make $40 or $50 or $60 "real" dollars per hour - no offense meant here. The job isn't worth that hourly rate. So, the airlines are "baking" in the "down" time into the higher hourly rate. Moreover, there are other pay add ons, etc. For what you do (what I used to do), it's a decent paying job with lots of autonomy and flexibility. If you want high pay, be a lawyer/doctor/software developer, etc.
