This interpretation from 1969 is the way they played in the sixties and before that time. They thought, also Dupré and others to play the Baroque music almost tied to the law of the metronome. Bach is straight on going to the end they thought. We have overcome I hope this vision. It is odd to think in the Baroque they had no accelerando or ritenuto. I am sure in the mode of the magnifique play of Buxtehude (Stylus Phantasticus) we may Bach play with all the possible accelerando and ritenuto. Although I appreciate this performance, but as I said, we do it differently these days.

McLean Stevenson sounds like someone I would have enjoyed meeting. He seems here to be enjoying life, despite his career setbacks after “MASH.” His three years (with Wayne Rogers) were my favourites of the series. It was also nice to hear him praise Larry Linville for his acting ability. I was hoping one series of his, “In The Beginning,” would be a lasting success. He played a conservative Catholic priest matched with a young, liberal nun. That one sounded promising. He was also a terrific host of “The Tonight Show.” Another noteworthy point: McLean was a second cousin of the great Adlai Stevenson - governor, presidential candidate, and UN ambassador.

As a new believer I went to a movie called The Rapture. During the movie Dallas Holm sings "Looking Back" on a talk show. Near the end of the song he disappears and the background music keeps playing. I bought this album after the show. My first Christian recording. One evening I was playing "Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt". My mom was surprised I was listening to good music. She wasn't a believer at the time. It took seven years to get her to come to my church and she and my Dad got saved there. They went to heaven about 10 years ago.
Never heard this in full. Class find. Do you have anything further on The Final Curtain record by the Blackwood Brothers?
