Not american, but why would the rank of the school matter. If you get a Master's degree in machine learning or any degree that has an insane demand, wouldn't you get a good job regardless or the rank at the school you attended?

You don't need a Masters Degree to do machine learning. I have a non-tech ivy league degree - retrained myself with online courses in 6 months, and now work in big tech building ML models. Nobody cares what your degree is in if it's a high quality degree - the competitiveness of those programs indicate how capable you are of learning and adapting. But, if you can't get to those programs, then with an associates/ vocational degree or certificate, you get a 2-3year head start in the job market (often with immediate industry placement), and far more experience than your peers of the same age by the time you're 25.
