    In the last few days my pylontech batteries will only charge to 87% from the grid during my 7 hours of low price time at night and shows a red light on what i think is the master battery. (They always charged to 100% before that). I have the On-grid Cut-off set to 10% as set by my installer but the day this fault started the SOC went down to 9%. Could that have been the cause of the problem? However they will then charge to 100% later in the day when the solar panels kick in and no red light. Any suggestions for a solution? Thank you

(i mean use both of electricity from solar cell/battery and grid in same time. ex. house load = 6kw and inverter can divide into 3kw from solar cell/battery + 3kw from grid) 2. this inverter can schedule/program charging/discharging time right ? lastly in my country it's so fuxk shit (bad) when i want to sell electric from my own solar cell.

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation2 ай бұрын

    Force discharge is when the lux will just discharge at max rate (unless reduced in settings) irrespective of the load so useful if you have export tariff. System discharge will only discharge what the house needs giving zero export. If you want to keep the batteries topped up in evening them use charge priority for those hours OR set up a charging schedule for those hours but keep %level to a low level so it doesn't use grid to charge up.

    Great Video, I do have a quick question. I am on a Luxpower hybrid 8-10K inverter with 2 x 10Kw Hanchu Batteries, I am on Octopus Flux and with flux I have setup the batteries in the inverter config to charge them between 2am and 5am as it's really cheap. Is there a reason why when the batteries get fully charged say approx 4am the inverter does not swap over to batteries but keeps pulling current from the grid right up to 5am and then swaps onto batteries.

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation5 ай бұрын

    That's because you have specified to charge them from.2am to 5am and so they will remain in charge mode only. They cannot work in both modes simultaneously. If you know that they regularly get to 100% by 4am then amend them charging schedule to 2am.to 4am instead .

To add solar to charge my batteries i understand we need to add a CT clamp on the primary Lux inverter that sees the power on the live of the PV inverter. The solar installer is thinking the CT clamp needs an Eastron SDM120CT. Is this correct?

  • @YorkshireAutomation

    We've installed a LuxPower hybrid solar inverter in our security estate in South Africa due to our country not having electricity for 12 hours of the day from the grid. At home I have a Victron system whereby I can just set the SOC to say 40% and the system will use the battery power at night when the sun is down and discharge to that setting before the grid is allowed to be used. Should the grid be out during Loadshedding (rolling blackouts) the batteries can dip below 40%. This is simple. But I have not yet figured out how to get this to work on the LuxPower inverter. The grid was out for 2 hours tonight and the battery discharged from 100% to 95% in that time. Now the battery remains at 95% while it is using grid power. There is enough battery capacity for our estate's security systems to be up all the time on the battery, after which the battery will recharge via solar again starting in the morning. Does anyone know how to set the LuxPower inverter to operate as with my Victron described above?

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation5 ай бұрын

    i believe that in order to get the Lux to behave in the off-grid format needs your installer/distributor to change some settings for it to do that. As far as i know the defaut setting is as grif-tied

  • @Zangettsu_ZA
    @Zangettsu_ZA5 ай бұрын

    @@YorkshireAutomation Ah thanks. I actually managed to figure it out. The interface seems a bit different than in your videos. On our inverter's maintenance page you can now set the Charge to take place within Timers, like it used to be, or set it to a certain SOC, or in fact, a combination of both. The first evening with the new settings the batteries reached their SOC setting at around 2 am, however the grid was off between 2am and 6am. So unfortunately the battery depleted and our security to our estate went dark. I then tweaked the settings again and last night it worked. When the grid came back around 6am there was still 50% of the battery left. And shortly after the sun was out and started charging the battery. So, it seems like there was a firmware upgrade which added the SOC setpoint, which in my opinion works 100% better than timers. Especially if you have an unstable grid like us where your power can go off without any notice.

  • @YorkshireAutomation

    @@user-zx4kw5lo8y the eps is connected indepently from the existing house. so the circuits are wired into a consumer unit directly fed from the EPS port. it has nothing to do with the grid. He is correct. The system does have EPS mode but they will have to re-wire existing house circuits through the hybrid inverter and also make provision for an external earth rod too.

    Hi, is there a way to set the start % for charging, as during the spring and summer months my batteries will go through the night and start charging via solar in the morning. So if the battery percentage was below 40% the inverter could charge them to 70%, thanks

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation8 ай бұрын

    as far as i know the system can only be set to charge based on time and then it will check percentage. So you could set the charge level to 70% and set a time period for tfor the morning. This would mean taht even if it was at 69% it would charge for 1%. During that charge times you have set would mean that discharge is disabled. I think a third party integration would be needed for what you would like to do.

    The web interface I see on the Africa server differs a lot from your video. Not sure if different regions have different versions, but I can't apply settings as you have. My actual problem is that an inverter is set to begin AC charge with both SOC and TIME - to begin 55% SOC and Time 18:00 start to 06:00 end. It charges fine during the specified Time range but not when it reaches the SOC percentage during the day. It does, however stop discahrging at the 50% EOD SOC I have set. Is there an explanation as local Lux support are unable to provide answers as to why it's not beginning charge at the SOC 55% point?

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation8 ай бұрын

    From my understanding the SOC rate is the minimum SOC required. So if the SOC drops to below 55% it will charge up. However if it goes above then it wont charge at all. I can see from your email that the interface is different and you have different options to us here in UK. But as far as we know that we cannot set the batteries to charge/discharge at same time. its one or the other in that specific time frame.

    Hi, thanks for this video it’s very useful. I wondering if you can help, My battery will only AC charge IF it has some charge left in. If it’s empty at (at 11% SOC) then it will not auto AC charge. Should I try increasing the on grid cut off SOC a touch do you think?

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation8 ай бұрын

    Hi It should still charge from AC if that is the settings you have set. I have mine set to 5% with Lux and Greenlinx batteries. 10% if lux and pylontech batteries. The only time it needs solar to charge up is if the battery voltage drops down. Best to ask your installer to take a look and escalate to tech support if they can't figure out

    Is there any way to set the batteries to discharge at peak times, but not export to grid (only discharge for what the house is using)?I'm finding that the batteries are dumping out to grid and fully discharge before peak time has ended, therefore I'm still paying for peak time electricity towards the end of the peak time window.

  • @YorkshireAutomation
    @YorkshireAutomation8 ай бұрын

    The default setting is for the batteries to discharge only what the house needs. Unless you have enabled force discharge then it will just supply what you have specified in the settings.

    @@akaGoolash fortunately i can hide mine in loft space. In living areas i have placed my ZXT behind the sofa under the AC unit itself. This is a nice looking unit for AC control too. Hopefully i will get one shortly and present it on my channel

    Very useful. Tiny error, max power for two luxpower / squirrel pods of 7.2 kW does not equate to "40 amps". More like just under 32 amps. Hence my 32a MCB they are on, won't trip. But I have throttled charge rate to 57%, as I too have 19.2 kWh, I too have intelligent octopus, 6 hours to charge in, absolutely no need to go berserk and charge at 7 kW. 4 kW charge rate is plenty actually, and a shade kinder on the batteries.
