Welcome to Time To Hunt!! These are the adventures of our family and friends hunting and harvesting game animals around New Zealand. The BRB is a Master butcher, with 40 year's experience, my main passion is hunting Sika deer in the Kaweka Ranges. Little Red is also a passionate hunter, famous for her ability to call in Sika stags during the rut. We both run deer indicating dogs. We try to showcase what NZ has to offer, these are real adventures with all of our mishaps thrown in! We are happy to share advice on any local areas. Hey BRB, enjoy your videos, well done! Just wondering which Hunters Element gloves you use for bush stalking and how do you find them? Cheers
Hi Sam, really enjoy the Hunters Element Crux gloves, helps keep that nasty bush lawyer away and its amazing how much your bare hands stand out in the bush (deer really pick up the movement)
Awesome, thanks. Do you find you are still able to operate a phone, and have good trigger control while wearing the Crux gloves?
Not sure about the phone, but can definitely shoot with them on
No pressure!!!
good watch again, not sure about the encouraging more hunter into the hills in winter, lol😝
There’s nothing like your son in law thinking you’re a legend and keen on a carry out…
Awesome hunting trip Glen, awesome footage and video mate, thanks, thumbs up and greetings to all,, ,Tony.
Mate.....just another great watch... cheers
Thank you 😊
Now that looks like a great trip out.... just another great watch I thought. Awesome 👌
Bloody awesome work again Glen, thanks for sharing
Cheers Mark, planning some winter adventures now
Great video guys looked bloody cold, loved the footage from the trail camera.
Those trail cameras are just the bomb mate, so cool to see what's happening when we aren't there. Game changer 🙌
I enjoyed that. Mint vid. Looks like Brooke is a great addition to your extended family!!! Cheers to your success. 🍻😎
Thanks mate, he won't be going to the train station anytime soon lol
The hunting experience in these valleys are excellent, good experience brook hunting with a good man sika. To show.
We all forget how cool our first ever hunting adventure is, hopefully Brook will always remember that one!
@@BackridgeButcher choice one.
bloody brilliant!- Brook was rapt!
Yep my mate has lost a few top stags, the last 180 to 200DS, we had it on game cam, he was broken for a week after that & needs "on going therapy" sadly that stag was a hit & not seen in 2 years,,☹
Ouch, I feel your mates pain
cool stags team, love that old hut bet that could tell some stories
It would have been an amazing hut back in the day, incredible location
Epic missions goodwork,🎣 cool soundtrack🎵 need to get the sons guitars lessons🎸 ⚒🏕
what awesome country, bit different from what i play in. cool as
Living in the Bay's tough ay.
Yep
Awesome video and footage Glen and great fishing trip team, thanks, thumbs up too,, Tony.
Cheers Tony, winter is coming, trying to make the most of it!
Another great vid. Gotta love those shooting sticks. I have a bog tripod. Game changer for standing shots.
Ill look them up thanks
Dogs must piss ya off
Well...ones a pup, and running two together is always a challenge! But wouldn't have it any other way
Hard case how that area can produce massive trophies and then on the other side of the coin, real mongrel heads also. I'm surprised NZ can produce good sika heads in the wild because the original gene pool is fairly small. Awesome to have access to Ngamatea, you obviously got told to leave the crackers for the guys paying the big dollars and shoot out the shit heads...
Grouse work team. Couple of characters there alright. Thanks for the watch as always. Hey if you don’t mind me asking - what breed are the shooting sticks?
the sticks are called Accu-Tech, picked them up at our local GunCity
Nice place to hunt and a good character sika stag by little red.BRB thank you for the video.
An amazing place, a real privilege to visit
To much alright I enjoy these videos!
Jonty is experienced with the hunting business now beautiful.
Slowly learning his craft
another good hunt mate
Cheers Phil
This is a good memory hunt to look back on BRB.
We still talk about it
Enjoyed that thanks Glenn. Nephew has invited me on a fly in kaweka trip next year so looking forward to that.
You will enjoy that Ian
I think about the 16th mate, apart from the wind, it was still good fun out there
Awesome videos Glenn and Little Red, that wind is a pain. I reckon it is the ones we don't secure that we remember the most, and it churns away in our minds over and over. It was neat that your old battler kept coming in to you, as you say they don't get old by being silly. We were in the mid Kaweka's and the 19th was the day they went off, it then rained and they stayed quiet for the next 4 days, I was wondering what the date was you had your encounter with those 5 stags? Take care and look forward to the next edition, very much enjoyed and looked forward to!
I think about the 16th Rod
Awesome Glenn, great result in the end. Shame about the 8 but he will be there next year! Another primo vid mate nice work.
Thanks Reuben, I recon I hardly ever see the same stag twice 😢
Good watch 🤙
Thanks 👍
Bloody good mate 👍
Cheers Greg
Part 1 & 2, both awesome vids Glen, (as usual) enjoyed by us all. Cheers mate, Phi
Glad you enjoyed it
So many memories watching that trip, was my stamping grounds back in the seventies and early eighties, you really did well .I know how long and hard that trip was. What an awesome achievement that tramp was for you. On a side note I recently went back to an area I hunted in the Kiamanawas 30 plus years ago with three of my sons for a look around with a rifle. I could not believe how many Sika we encountered over 4 days (20+) was a great time for us came back with heavy packs.
Cheers Glenn, first couple of days knocked the stuffing out of me a little bit, slowly came right after that! It's magical country and I'd do it again. Good to hear there's a few deer about and you had success 🙌 Cheers BRB
Brilliant lot of sika stag encounters BRB,still a good day on the hill.beautiful, heartfelt and honest thank you both.
Cheers mate 👍
Another quality production thank you mate. Dog did well. It took me a few years to learn but I always trust my dog. I'm pretty sure she'd have found it if you'd smacked it.
I think your right mate, dogs love there job and generally get it right
Thanks for the video, your content is always enjoyable to watch, and informative, often seems like theres items missing or forgotten in the old pack!?, touch wood i havnt forgotten the bolt YET!, like most ppl ive gotta wait another year for the next roar 😢, keep on truckin, cheers, greg
Thanks for watching!
Had a chuckle about forgetting the gps... "geographically embarrassed" comment. My roar involved a big overnight walk in andI developed a sneaky suspicion that something was missing from my pack. Sure enough, turns out it was my kill kit including my only knife. Specialness. I now pack two knives packed separately. Funny that.Interesting to see deflections from a 308. Had it with 223 and 7mm08. I feel your pain. Great stag, well done!
Cheers Snoop, I have a phone app/map, but honestly it's all over the place sometimes. I'm now stressed I might have hit the stag and relying to heavily on my dog? Who knows, another chapter in the hunting book
@@BackridgeButcherAlways trust the dog. He's gonna follow the deer until he either finds it, or it keeps on moving away (depending on the lethality of the shot). I've had a couple I've had to follow up with the dog. One hind we trailed for an hour and had two sightings before I pulled him off (it was moving well). The other, a stag, we got in a river about 30 minutes after the first shot. You just don't know sometimes what's happened with the bullet right.
Quality viewing BRB, good effort!
Thanks Jim, world loves a trier!!
bloody good alright, a great watch.
Cheers Ants! How was your roar
Team BRB ya making damn good videos 👍
really good video ,can only sit at home at the moment and watch you lucky buggers out there doing it
That's no good mate, hope you recover soon and are back out doing what you love! In the mean time we will keep making vids for you...cheers team BRB
Awesome video BRB! Great tips, great footage and it felt like I was there. Love your attitude mate! 👍Really enjoyed it especially after having a poor roar this year! 👍
Where did you adventure to this roar Darrell??
We have a week in the Tauranga Taupo every year. We just got out on Monday. Last there were plenty of deer around and shot a few. This year we hardly saw any or even heard many.😥 Most of the ones we heard were quite distant…. Next year!
Do you think you possibly missed the peak rut?
Possibly although the huts around us seemed to do well. We were here last year at that time and did well. The other possibility is that there are some wild dogs on our block. We didn’t take any notice of the signs in the hut about that but I noticed a comment in the hut book about mauled dead deer on the ridge behind the hut as we were leaving… Don’t really know to be honest.
hunting with you is always like being there, i can almost smell that wet bush ! that "patch of bush" almost always delivers a deer , but always delivers a great hunt. thanks for taking us with you.
No worries Greg, it's frustrating at times with the camera, as I feel there is so much I don't get to film at times. Then its what to edit out to make it interesting for people to watch. Hopefully getting that mix right ✅️ . Cheers for watching and appreciate your comments 👍
Been wanting to tell you this for awhile. Get some 168gr ballistic tip .I have used them for about 10 years 👌
Thanks mate, I'll look into them 👍
Good day Glen, awesome video and footage mate regardless of the getting deer or not mate, enjoyed the trip with you, thanks, thumbs up and regards,, Tony.
Cheers Tony, just how it rolls some day's!
Great video of real sika hunting, I know how you feel about young stags, did the same with a lovely little 8 in Harkness. No time and had to shoot! Great that your video's are so real and honest. looking forward to episode two.
Thanks Rod, really just trying to show how our adventures roll, no two trips are the same and plenty of highs and lows. Unfortunately some channels only show their best stuff and can give a false sense of reality for up and coming hunters
Another great hunting trip Glenn, enjoyed the trip, thanks to the team,, Tony.
Cheers Tony, how's your roar going? Really enjoyed watching your son on the NZ Hunter Duckshooting episode this season 👍He's a master in the kitchen
@@BackridgeButcher We had a few hunts for Reds and all went well Glenn, they did not want to be on KZread.I saw the program and very proud of him mate, he had take over the Cazador Restaurant 12 or so years ago that me and the wife set up in 1987 and served only Game meat.He is great with shotgun and i am so terrible at it, hahahah.Have a great weekend and best regards to all.
Another good one mate.
